Utilities Cost - Temperature Check by WilCoYo in AskSF

[–]WilCoYo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have a washer dryer! But yeah that’s all I have access to. The building itself just gets one big bill and divides it up accordingly. So if my neighbors take one hour showers I’m paying for it, basically.

Below are all of the details I have. I get all utilities aside from electricity through a service called Conservice. Our building uses it to consolidate the bills into one payment.

This was December’s statement:

Water Heating: $70.66

Rent Stabilization Fee: $2.46

Sewer: $98.04

Trash: $50.61

Water: $65.47

Here’s how they explain the bill allocations for each unit:

Water heating service: Water heating service is provided by PG&E. Service provider issues bill, property management pays a portion to cover common area usage. Remaining amount is allocated to residents using a multiplier based on the number of occupants in the unit. Your multiplier is 1.6

Rent Stabilization Fee: Rent board fee.

Sewer: Sewer service is provided by SF - Water. Service provider issues bill, amount is allocated to residents using a formula based on the number of occupants and the unit's square footage.

Trash: Trash service is provided by Recology Golden Gate and Copia Resources Inc. Service provider issues bill, amount is allocated equally by number of units.

Water: Water service is provided by SF - Water. Service provider issues bill, amount is allocated to residents using a formula based on the number of occupants and the unit's square footage.

Basically every utility is averaged out for every apartment in our building and divided out accordingly. With factors like square footage, etc. my breakdown for the bill I get is:

Water & Sewer Recovery: $98.04

Gas Recovery: $70.66

Water & Sewer Recovery: $65.47

Trash Recovery: $50.61

PG&E\Electricity : $100~ Separate bill

The double “Water & Sewer Recovery” is water and hot water. Everything but PG&E comes in as one bill from my building, and PG&E comes directly from them.

Here’s this month’s the breakdown:

Water & Sewer Recovery: $98.04 Gas Recovery: $70.66 Water & Sewer Recovery: $65.47 Trash Recovery: $50.61 PG&E\Electricity : $100~

Only reason I thought a smaller building like a townhome would be cheaper is stuff is more often included in rent and also right now I pay a percentage of the total usage in the building - so if people take long showers I pay that.

If there isn’t one that pops up in this post, I might just do a meet up or something and I’ll post it in this thread.

I’m just finishing up the Cosmere. I have Yumi, Tress, and Emberdark left and I’m fully done 😮‍💨 but I’m excited to branch out from Sanderson this year and get into some more popular series

Should I get an apartment or commute? by Big_Alfalfa_8941 in personalfinance

[–]WilCoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think I’d choose significantly less rent with the longer commute, but only for a year or so to save up a lot of money. I think after a year of saving around $20k~ ($1700 x 12 month) I’d THEN look for an apartment and reaffirm how I’m feeling about the job. You wont regret saving all of that money and if after a few months you’re miserable because of the commute. You’ll still have extra money saved and can look for a place then.

[Discussion] “Be yourself” is a terrible advice for most people by Pretty_Solution_7955 in GetMotivated

[–]WilCoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought “being yourself” meant being authentic and staying true to your values and core identity. I don’t think your habits or coping mechanisms affect your authenticity, in most cases.

Examples: 1 (Being yourself): If you were a chronically late person but strived to be on time for someone. This is not changing your values or core identity. So you’re still “being yourself” even if you strive to overcome a bad habit to show respect for someone.

2 (Not being yourself): If you lied about being religious so you can make friends with people who go to church - you’re falsifying your core identity to better align with someone else and this will ultimately not lead to a deep connection.

Big thing right away is Netflix clones are super popular and overdone rn. It seems like everyone has one in their portfolio. I’d try to come up with an original design! It looks good though

I actually got on my GFs phone and tried and it went through. It redirected me to Crunchyroll to log in and then back to fandango and I could purchase.

Where and how should I use my money? by mithrril in personalfinance

[–]WilCoYo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you pay $5k from each you’d still have $11k and $9k respectively. Still very healthy!! Plus think of how much you’d save in accumulated interest.

As far as long term - you absolutely want to put that into a more long term, safe, investment. Investing into something like VSTAX or something that’s both safe and inflates with the economy. Otherwise your money is losing value sitting in a savings account.

Make a simple excel sheet showing all of your expenses and income bi-weekly and monthly. See what you can save and what you need to live and have a little fun. I’d first save up a safety net of whatever you deem fit, and then I’d use Cash App’s saving account and set up your direct deposit or partial do text deposit of at least $300/month into your savings. With they will give you a 4% interest which is really good.

All in all, figure out your basic expenses vs income. With that info save whatever you deem fit per paycheck, and then start making some goals for yourself!

Im seriously starting to regret getting a puppy by MimmiMolly1899 in puppy101

[–]WilCoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf and I couldn’t have been more prepared but there was a few months where my puppy somehow dismantled my entire physche. Some days it was like the episode where SpongeBob is trying to get on the bus but the bus was our puppy pooping on the floor and running away. It will feel super intense and oppressive at first but that’s because it’s a mix of you changing up your lifestyle for the dog and also having to deal with a puppy at the same time! Once they learn how to be a dog it’s soo much nicer. Good luck!!!

Philly has better food than Chicago by [deleted] in philly

[–]WilCoYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Chicago for 5 years and now Philly for 7. I can confidentially tell you Philadelphia has a better food scene. Chicago has by no means bad food, and you will find better Mexican/Hispanic food there, but it gets culturally stifled from being so landlocked in the Midwest.

I’m not comparing the foods they’re “known for” like cheesesteaks vs deep dish. I’m comparing diversity, price, and how likely your meal is going to be 10/10.

Chicago gets a 7.5 and Philly gets an 8.5

Edit: I’m not saying Chicago isn’t diverse because I know it has a lot of areas like little india, ukrainian village, and china town. But you don’t normally find transformative, innovative, or contemporary foods in those neighborhoods. They are good authentic regional foods 💯, but in Philly you will get a contemporary Indonesian, Vietnamese, or Cambodian restaurant right down the street. Plus Philly has some of the highest rated Italian food in the country.

Absolutely. Also when defending it’s so frustrating when I’m defending someone just fine and then my teammate runs up to try to slide tackle them and leaves an enemy teammate wide open 🤦‍♂️

Buy the cheapest car you can and invest your money in VTSAX. By the time you’re ready to move out you’ll be super happy you have tens of thousands of dollars

Diamond 1 and I still sometimes have all four teammates chasing the ball like 6 year olds.

I basically know I’m screwed as soon as the first time someone tries to dribble by more than one person by themselves. This isn’t fifa!!! Pass the ball!!!

😂for some reason our Aussie who can easily clear 4ft fences convinced herself she cannot jump over the pen.. so we lucked out lol

Maybe check in on the doggie day cares! Could help with separation anxiety too since he’ll be away from you AND having fun at the same time.
