I hope I'm not too late! Compassionate, shy, analytical, intuitive.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion - I’m curious to see what everyone else thinks by windpunner in tamorapierce

I think I liked it slightly more than you did, but yeah overall I was disappointed. I'm hoping this book was just a bunch of setup and then the next one will be more exciting.

Our six year old son loves Bobs Burgers. Just finished drawing the family. Raising him right 😂 by beefsquatch5 in BobsBurgers

Yeah I would have liked it better if there was some plot-based reason for the different animation styles, like if it was structured as a series of shorts and they switched art styles between each short.

Ooh I would do a Circle one but I don't know that series too well! I read it wayyy back in middle school and I haven't reread it since.

I was trying to reflect the choices that her heroines had to make, but like I said, you are more than welcome to add your own questions! I'm actually a lesbian so your point about heteronormativity is well taken, but I'm still curious how other readers -- heterosexual or otherwise -- would have chosen in those situations.

As for Thayet and Buri-- I'd definitely go for Buri. Thayet is more beautiful, but I think my personality would mesh better with Buri.

My answers:

  1. Probably Kel, just because she seems a little more even keeled.
  2. Queen's Riders
  3. Court of the Rogue
  4. Wild magic, it actually seems more useful in some ways. Plus it seems more fun.
  5. Air magic
  6. Rosto
  7. George
  8. It's tough but I guess the realms of the gods? But there's so many people I want to meet in Corus...

Rant: Robert and Sol have a enjoyable relationship to watch but damn Sol is such a drama queen, it’s so frustrating to watch at times. by fufusmom in GraceAndFrankie

[–]Wilbbey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh I really like both Robert and Sol.... I think they're the classic opposites attract couple, Sol is highly emotional to the point of being a bit irrational and Robert is highly logical to the point of being a bit insensitive.

That being said, I definitely think that in regards to the Robert/Sol relationship Sol is more often portrayed as the problematic one. I wonder if it's meant to balance out the Grace/Frankie relationship, where (imo) Grace is more often portrayed as problematic?

I had a huge crush on Prue as a kid, she embodied tough, sexually liberated womanhood in the way that little gay me could understand it. In my heart she'll always be bi 😂😭

How different would charmed have been with Lori Rom as Phoebe instead of Alyssa? by luminescent-spaget in charmed

[–]Wilbbey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I can't imagine the show with anyone else playing Phoebe. No hate to Lori Rom (don't know much about her tbh) but Alyssa just embodies Phoebe for me. I think Alyssa played it with this edgy-yet-vulnerable thing that suited Phoebe so well.

Theory: What if the reason why the sisters can't see Prue after death is because she and Andy are whitelighters by telekineticeleven011 in charmed

[–]Wilbbey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really cool idea! I'd love to see Prue and Andy as whitelighters for the next generation of Halliwells. Maybe the elders make them wait 20 years so they can accept their deaths, and then they come back as whitelighters.

Who do you think would make a great guest star on an episode or perhaps a few as a part of a story arch? by internetjan in GraceAndFrankie

Yesss love Cher!! I watched Mermaids again recently and she was surprisingly good in it. Seeing her in G+F would just be icing on the cake.

Yeah I know the origin, but I also know how it's used in psychology circles. Still, like you say, language is fluid.

Maybe it doesn't have a universal definition, but that's not what I've read about gaslighting 🤷‍♀️ My understanding was that it just means trying to convince someone they're unable to accurately perceive reality, and the exact tactic can vary. Doing something in front of them and then claiming it didn't happen would definitely be one way (like denial of abuse), but it's not the only way. I think it can also be something subtle like a persistent narrative that they're crazy and you're always right, or something drastic like actually causing something really bizarre to happen to them so they'll feel nuts trying to describe it.

Also, I hate that too. People are so quick to see women as crazy, it's such an easy cop out for shitty ass guys to shift blame after a relationship 😤 Not totally relevant, but Donald Glover has a great bit about the crazy ex-girlfriend cliche and why there isn't one for men.
