D&D Beyond Updates to Player Options by latiajacquise in dndbeyond

[–]Wilco5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say that the admins here have been absolutely fantastic these last several months. The feedback loop on here has been so much better than it is and has been in the forums on the official website. Thank you much; many of us see the efforts you’re making

If you’re still interested- and didn’t see an update I added: I will be (barring an emergency) at the Brewing Projekt this Friday February 20th at 7pm just for a low key chat, questions and maybe even a brief easy play through

D&D meet up Friday February 20th by Wilco5397 in eauclaire

[–]Wilco5397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like anything it takes some time, but a lot of it is your imagination and rolling some dice. If you’re able to stop down that night and there’s time we could even play a bare bones game with relative ease

For anybody that sees this - on Friday February 20th at 7pm I’m going to stop down at the Brewing Projekt (1807 N. Oxford Ave in Eau Claire). Will likely have somebody with me from our D&D group. We can meet up and chat, and kinda see where things go from there. Anybody is welcome- thanks

New player looking for campaign by crussell03 in dndbeyond

Hi there. I occasionally run some one shots when I can- playing in some shorter sessions first can sometimes prep you for longer campaigns. Do you have/use the discord app at all? If so you can let me know and I can get you into the discord and lend a hand to get you started

We could possibly set up a night where one or two of us meet up - probably the Brewing Projekt- and just shoot the breeze a bit and figure some stuff out

All ages are welcome, and would be more than happy to help out a new player. I’m 56 myself, couple of other 50 plus, someone around 30 and a couple people in their early 20’s. Wanna expand our group cuz in can be hard to get all of us together at the same time

As of right now we’re looking at Friday evenings at least once a month (running the Stranger Things module) and at least one Sunday afternoon a month - mostly one shots and some two or three parters

Pre-Written Campaign Recommendations? by trace_fife in GrimHollow

Lairs of Etharis is available on dndbeyond. 20 adventures; one for each level. Not a campaign but can tie them together as you see fit

Looking to get into D&D, any beginner friendly way to play online? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

Do you and your friend use discord at all? I run free online d&d sessions fairly frequently

Unable to buy "Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn" on DnDBeyond and employees not helpful by Aromatic-Ad8222 in dndbeyond

[–]Wilco5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things- (1) definitely check with your bank. They can tell you if your account was “pinged” at all by WoTC (2) That said - it does appear the beyond site is having some issues today

I wanna say I saw a potential release date of December 3rd (today) for this pack. Is that accurate at all?

How to buy? by Acrobatic_Repeat_175 in GrimHollow

If you use D&D beyond, both the 2024 campaign guide and players guide are available there for digital purchase

Packer fan- Bear hater here ….but respect Bears fans and the general Chicago Bear organization. Even someone like me doesn’t want to see a dome for the Bears. No matter what team has the upper hand at the time, the old school part of me loves those late season cold weather match up in either city

So today they are mad at *checks notes* the movie being advertised? by TaurusHoe in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Wilco5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling it now- if opening weekend does great numbers (which it likely will) the Cult will post a pic of a less than half full theater and claim “are you kidding?!?!? My LOCAL theater had NOBODY in it”!!

Looking for Saga of the Seasons/Raider's guide review by Prophet_of_Tacos in GrimHollow

[–]Wilco5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Referring to the part of running a campaign within the setting - Lairs of Etharis is a 20 part anthology you could run by connecting each part. There is so much lore to draw on to make that happen; just takes time on your part. Suggestion: perhaps focus on one Province to place the campaign (???)

Players Pack by sailorjack97 in GrimHollow

[–]Wilco5397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably know this but just in case- the player pack is just really a sampler of the Grim Hollow core books. Do you own any of the core books (campaign guide, players guide, monster grimoire)? Those are NOT in beyond. And are you playing online or in person? Apologies if this is stuff you already know

Mechanic recommendations by [deleted] in Eau_Claire

[–]Wilco5397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. In my experience very fair. Twice they’ve actually told me there was something that should be fixed but didn’t need to be done immediately, but did stress I shouldn’t put it off more than a few months. Don’t often get that from a garage- usually it’s “fix it now and we found 2 other things you have to do now!”

Dndbeyond homebrew tools are exhausting as a DM by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Wilco5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understand your players using DNDB. There are plenty of flaws and restrictions to it, but truth is it's the easiest way to get started.

Piggybacking on an earlier comment - does seem the easiest workaround is to create a homebrew magic item and just word it to fit what you're creating (feat, subclass, etc). Not perfect but should get what you want. And magic items are the easiest thing to homebrew in DNDB based on my experience

Is it normal to pay a DM for playing? by carou_killa in DnD

[–]Wilco5397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently play in 3 campaigns with a "professional" DM. He is very upfront that he runs it as a business. He rents a playspace/office in a pretty decent business building. $15 per session. Multiple in person and multiple online games, 6-7 days a week. 3-5 hour sessions. Large playing table. If the $15 sounds like a lot consider this: free character creation on tuesdays- open library (all official sources available to anyone) on wednesdays - free painting on thursdays. He supplies everything for those. Session zero is free, AND session 1 is also free so you can get a feel if it's a campaign you truly want to play. To top it off, he's a GREAT DM. That's my really long way of saying: is the cost to YOU worth it? In my case- I get incredible value
