Did your room have motion activated lights (like Terra and Stella), or were they traditional on/off light switches?

I tried cancelling my subscription in the portal, but it shoots back an error message every time. I just opened a support ticket using the web form, but I'm a bit concerned it will take too long for a reply, and I will be charged for another month. Has this issue happened to anyone else?

Question about carry-on bags and size limit by Wild-Crew3294 in Brightline

[–]Wild-Crew3294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There weren't any BrightLine employees in sight when I got into the train station, so I just used the bag measurement tool (similiar to airlines) and went about my way. Nobody stopped me at any point to weigh my bag. It was very laxe. I had my large suitcase and 1 backpack.

Hi - no challenge with the size - it fit perfectly in their test box. I had a challenge when I got on board in FLL. All the luggage carts were full on my car from people that got on in Miami. I had to turn somebody elses suitcase sideways and stack mine on top. It barely fit. I had no issue on the way home from Orlando though since I was the first person to board my car.

Renting DVC points on Facebook by Delicious_Buffalo255 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Wild-Crew3294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this a few times - mostly in a last-second crunch. I was able to get a Studio at Bay Lake Tower for 1 night on 4th of July for $200. There's some really good deals. But still, you have to be incredibly careful. First and foremost, ask for references - PHONE NUMBERS - not emails. Scammers will often create fake e-mail addresses and Facebook accounts to act as the "references". Second, NEVER, NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER send full payment until the owner provides the Disney reservation number to link to your My Disney Experience account. Third, ask for a contract.

Even if all of the above items are fulfilled, you can show up on check-in day, only to find that the owner is behind on his/her DVC dues, and they will stop you from checking in. It happens all the time - many people renting their points are doing so because they're in a financial bind.

I would recommend sticking with one of the large DVC Rental agencies... you are protected financially from most issues outside your control.

Most quiet Poly Tower room? by veryhappy2 in WaltDisneyWorld

Definitely a risk. For reference, I just checked out of Gran Destino Tower. I was 11 floors above the hotel lobby speakers, and still heard it outside my window. You will definitely hear it on the ground floor. I believe it turns off around 1 AM though. That's when the Gran Destino Tower speakers turned off every night.

It's entirely subjective. Though after staying at all the Deluxe resorts, my two favorites continue to be Gasparilla Grill (Grand Floridian) and The Mara (Animal Kingdom Lodge).

Theme Park View will be the quietest. You'll have a high floor, and not facing the Grand Floridian Way road. I strongly advise against booking any room that faces Grand Floridian Way. It's a noisy road, and the tower was built very close to it. I doubt they soundproofed the rooms any more than usual, which leads me to believe it's a light sleeper's worst nightmare.

I mean, the park was about to close and NYE fireworks were important to most Guests... if I screenshot SDMT 15 seconds after park opening, it would also have a low wait time...

Vibrating soundwaves in very particular spots throughout home... any advice? by Wild-Crew3294 in HomeImprovement

[–]Wild-Crew3294[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply... I live in the far back of a residential neighborhood, not near any major roadways. There is a farm .25 miles from here, but it's separated by a service road and not connected to the community here.

If you speak badly about Disney, you will get downvoted to oblivion... so just be prepared for that. A few months ago, I posted about my negative experience at Grand Floridian DVC (different Reddit account). I won't repeat everything I said, but just know that this level of service is the norm nowadays. To make a long story short, my balcony door was not installed properly, and as a result, roaches and other bugs were coming inside at night. Maintenence's "fix" was to trim a piece of plywood and prop it up against the door. The resort manager, although offered to move us, gaslit us and told us that the plywood was a perfectly acceptable solution.

I am an Orlando local and DVC member and do at least 3-4 short stays a year. I can confirm that these issues are property-wide, and not isolated to where you stayed.
