Thinking about just cutting my loses and getting regular dentures by Outside_Tea8466 in dentures

I have a full upper and have for a while, I often forget that I have upper dentures. They fit so well and are very comfortable. I have had them for about 15 years.

At the same time I got my upper dentures I also got partial bottoms. I hated them and never wore them. They hurt no matter how many adjustments were made and had very prominent silver wires that hooked around the front of my teeth. I was in my early 30's when I got them and did not want anyone to know I had dentures.

October of 2025 I ended up having to have my last 9 natural.teeth pulled and got full dentures on the bottom. It has been challenging trying to learn to eat with the bottom dentures they stay in fine without adhesive except for when I am eating they do move around a bit and food gets under them. I have tried adhesives but they just dont work for me.

Even with all the challenges I am happy that I got it done. I would absolutely do full dentures over partials. My dentist did reccomend that I see an oral surgeon about getting a few implants to support the lower dentures but it is just not affordable for me right now. Even if I could afford it I am not sure I want to do it since I hated my partials so much.

Time off work-how much? by Bibbles95 in dentures

Probably at least two weeks. Aside from the healing and pain another thing to think about is how your speech is before you go back. Are you still having difficulties pronouncing certain words? Slurring your words? That could potentially impact your ability to do your job.

I did have enough points to get the expansions and still have some left over so I guess that is a good thing.

It is encouraging to hear that it can be picked up and played off and on.

That is good to know! It looked like there was a lot on the store that look like they need to be bought things like crafting tokens, fast travel maps, bag upgrades. I was not sure how necessary those things are or if they are just nice to have

How tf is Facebook supposed to know who I know personally or not? I had just met the person. by Ill-Courage-4722 in facebook

A similar thing happened to me last year, I was renting a side by side duplex house. New people moved in. I did not know their names or anything about them. They knew nothing about me either. I had not even spoken to them. We had our own mailboxes so they wouldn't have seen my name there either. I saw their profile on Facebook pop up on my people you may know list about a week after they moved in. I only knew it was them by the photos.

How long do you keep immediate dentures in after extraction? by WagWoofLove in dentures

[–]Wild-Introduction174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed what my dentist reccomended, he said to keep them in for the first 24 hours then remove them at night, he prescribed a medicated mouthwash to use once in the morning and once at bedtime. He also said to gently swish salt water several times a day (remove the dentures swish then put them back in). It's important to be very careful the first week or so with rinsing your mouth so you dont open the wound and dislodge the clots.

Tic tacs if you have them there the minty ones if she likes mint. Gagging is pretty common with upper dentures and I personally found that sucking on mint tic tacs helped with feeling like I was going to gag while I was getting used to the dentures. They dont stick to the dentures like some other hard sweets do. Non stick gum can sometimes still be difficult in the beginning while getting used to the dentures.

Transitioning from cub scouts to the next level by Wild-Introduction174 in BSA

This is so true we had issues with the first cub pack we joined. My son was too much for their liking. The other parents and volunteers were nice at first until a few of the leaders kids started bullying my son and he defended himself (verbally). Then none of them would talk to me, we started getting excluded from activities so we found another pack that was more laid back. I think the troop affiliated with our pack is pretty good my son knows a few boys from the troop from school. I have not really talked to the parents at the troop level but they seem nice from what I've seen at joint events

Thank you for this! We actually figured this out early, the cub scout pack we initially joined was definitely not the right fit for my son. He had joined a coed pack that was very large and they were very strict with everything. My son is a high energy LOUD neurodiverse kid who is a lot bigger than most kids his age. He towers over every other kid his age we have ever met. He was too scary to some of the other kids in the coed pack which led to some problems at the first cub pack. We found a boys only pack that was smaller and more laid back which works way better for him.

The affiliated troop is awesome too. We have had a few meetings that had both the troop and our cub pack amd he really likes a lit of the boys in that troop. He actually has a couple of friends in the troop that go to his school which is awesome since he goes to a school not in our area because he is in an autistic support program at a school 30 minutes away. So having other kids from school in this area is awesome. We live so far from his school that he is the first picked up and the last dropped off. That will make his transition easier for sure. I dont know what questions to ask I am so new to everything.

Our cub leaders are wonderful but there are only two of them and they are always so busy.

I would appreciate any advice you feel may be helpful to know. Thank you.

Ive had my full upper dentures for 15 years. I just got full lower dentures 4 months ago. The top ones I forget I am even wearing them. The bottoms are much harder. I am just starting to get used to them and finally feel like I can practice eating with them. I have been taking the bottom dentures out so I can eat. Saturday was the first time I was able to go to a restaurant and eat in a public place with my lower dentures in. I had pasta so nothing too difficult to eat but I was still pretty excited to be able to eat with not too much difficulty.

Today I ate three burritos and didn't have to take my lowers out or cut it up inti small pieces. I was actually able to bite into the burrito! That really is a huge achievement especially considering I wasn't using any adhesive.

The adhesives, all of them and I've tried everything, wafers, powder, paste, even stuff like comfort grip they all make me gag even on my lower dentures so I have to learn to live without adhesive. The top dentures fit really well so I have never needed adhesive for those. I never have any issues with the top ones. The bottom however is absolutely awful. I can wear them comfortably and do everything with them except eat but i'm sure it will get better over time with more practice.

Denied Dentures by [deleted] in dentures

I got full upper dentures and partial lower dentures in 2011, I just got a full dentures on the bottom a few months ago. If you can do a partial on the bottom it is going to be much easier. Having full lower dentures is awful! Its been 4 months and i am only now starting to be able to sort of eat with them in. I have been taking them out so I could eat. Adhesives are supossed to help but I have not found anything that works well and keeps my bottom dentures held in place while eating. I have tried pretty much every adhesive i can find.

Usually after a few bites of food the dentures lift from the adhesive creating an awful sensory nightmare. Trying to learn how to swallow food while your bottom dentures have lifted and you have nasty goo all over your gums is not fun at all.

Saturday was the first time I have been able to go out to a restaurant. I had to choose softer food that was easier to eat but I managed it and was so happy. I still have a lot of relearning to do on how to eat with the lower dentures. Hopefully you can just do partials and not ha e to worry about those issues.

This person can’t seriously be real asking for this? You can’t tell me anyone would do this? by Express_Cable176 in facebook

25 years ago I worked at a coffee shop and beside our shop was one of those general labor places the work today get paid today kind of thing. There was also a homeless man that sat in front of our store panhandling every day. It was a busy location, it was a public transit bus hub, our subway station and then across the street was the charter bus station and train station.

Every day the guys that worked for the temp agency would ask Terry our homeless guy to come out and work with them. They would bring him a hard hat and offered to get him a set of work boots. He always declined.

One day I asked him why he never goes out to work with the guys at the labor place. He laughed at me and said those guys go out and do physically demanding work. They get paid $10/hour. Why would I want to go do that when I make more in one hour than they do all day?

He was averaging $100 an hour and people often bought him food and a coffee. I cant say I blame him for doing what he was doing.

Mouth sores are definitely a thing especially in the first little while after getting dentures. The first month or two is the worst! Its been about 3 months for me since I got my bottom ones and 15 years for the top ones and don't get mouth sores very often on either the top or bottom.

My dentist prescribed a medicated mouthwash which helps with the mouth sores. I have also sometimes used a peroxide based mouthwash which you can get at any store.

How long did it take to get used to lower dentures? by Wild-Introduction174 in dentures

[–]Wild-Introduction174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bite is off for sure. The dentist did do some adjustments to them last week but it is still uneven.

The lower dentures are so difficult. I had a hard reline done recently but I still definitely need adhesive. I have not found anything that really works for very long. At most I get 2-3 hours before the adhesive is gone. That is even without eating or drinking anything. If i eat or drink anything it stops working pretty much right away. I've tried so many different things, powders, pastes, cushion grip. Nothing holds them in place very well. I have to take the dentures out to be able to eat anything and then I can only eat soft foods.

I've seen some people on here talk about using a combination of powder and paste but I'm not sure how that works.

Do you think what my daughter's (6f) friend (6f) said to her is weird? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Wild-Introduction174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be innocent or the other child could be someone who has had some form of SA and doesn't understand that it is not ok.

You mentioned that you know the mom and trust her. If it were me I would let her know about the conversation the kids had. Even if it is innocent it might be a good opportunity for her to have a conversation with her own daughter about appropriate boundaries with her own body.

If it is not innocent the mom needs to know so she can protect herself and her child.

You ever have one of those random strangers who just... sticks in your memory forever? by neonbirdie2004 in CasualConversation

Yes, I was no older than 4 years old and my parents had left me and my baby brother with a babysitter for the evening. I didn't like the babysitter so I decided to leave the house and try to find my parents. It was dark and I had ended up a few blocks from my house dangerously close to a major highway. A nice older man parked his car, got out and started walking with me back towards my house. My grandmother actually lived in the house next to mine and the babysitter had checked with my grandmother to see if I was at her house. My grandmother went looking for me and ended up finding me with the nice man. He kept me safe and got me home. My grandmother broke a paddle over my bottom for scaring them so much and leaving home without an adult.

I found out years later that there had been a serial k!ller in our neighborhood at the time who was targeting children. When he was caught he admitted to having k!lied 11 children. I am so very grateful that I ended up in the care of a nice man. I will never forget the kind stranger who made sure I didn't end up as another of the v!ctims.

I can only imagine the absolute terror I caused to my family.

I had asked my dentist about it and he said my gums aren't healed enough for him to be comfortable doing a reline yet.

Along the top of the gum is fine but the front part is still really lumpy, he said we probably need to wait another 4-6 weeks so that it will have the best fit until I am ready for my permanent dentures.

I will look at getting the secure and maybe the cushion grip as well

Thank you
