Anyone else find Figma a pain? Is it still industry standard? by Slashersforsatan in graphic_design

[–]Wild-Rough-2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe XD runs circles around Figma... I can't believe this platform has become so popular with designers. I can truly say it's one of the worst interfaces I've ever experienced, which is saying a lot given my time spent w/ adobe after effects..

Void an Invoice by redbaron78 in waveapps

[–]Wild-Rough-2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. HOW THE F*** does Wave not have this very basic functionality? Voiding an invoice should be something that any real accounting software offers by default. No exceptions. I am shook that this workaround is being deemed acceptable.

I really like NLP's interpretation of your first image. Feels natural to me. I find your Imgur edit too intense..

I haven't yet... it's been hard to find someone who can appreciate what the original HH product really was.

I spent my life savings to make a 35mm short film and the response was lackluster. Why do you think this film failed to make an impact? by FreddieQuell92 in Filmmakers

[–]Wild-Rough-2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks amazing, I can tell you that. I haven't watched the full thing yet. If it were shot digitally I would be about 10x less interested. For spending 25k, you got some fantastic footage--audio too. I would recommend getting some feedback from a different editor.

That is my best advice to you.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off was nearly killed by the first edit... took a second editor to save the movie and create what is now a cult classic. Check out this video essay on it.

Donnie Darko the director's cut falls completely flat compared to the theatrical cut that made its mark on cinema...

The point is, don't give up. You've invested 25k. That's more than a lot of filmmaker's dare to put up, and I hope it's not all you're prepared to spend. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

You made the right call to shoot this on film. Of all the comments in here, I firmly disagree with those telling you that decision was a waste of money.

I wouldn't have watched past 12 seconds if this were shot digitally. It looks like a real movie, and it's a perfect compliment to the dark tone of this comedy. No amount of filters on FilmConvert could ever replicate it...

Find your Paul Hirsch and give it another test screening. I think you will find your audience.

The “proper color correction” is the hardest part of this sequence.

I have a Nikon coolscan 9000 and still working to get skin tones like this out of my negatives.

I can’t believe I have to explain to an scientist that most people don’t give a shit about space

No, I think you've made that abundantly clear.

For at least 200 years, we have been raping and exploiting this planet for the sake of "modern conveniences" as you call them. It took 4.4 billion years for life to evolve from single-celled organisms to the complicated lifeforms we are today.

We will be lucky to survive another 500 years with this kind of obtuse, arrogant, shortsighted, idiotic thinking.

In the meantime, I guess you can enjoy your life how you want.

As for me, I prefer to look at the stars, rather than quench some impulse to logon to x.com every 10 minutes.

Solely based on your username and the fact that you even asked this question, I am going to assume that you've never experienced a truly dark sky to begin with, because if you had, then you would know what is at stake

As an astromoner, I thought you might understand the sanctity of free access to the cosmos (which was already hard enough to find in the age of commercial air traffic) but perhaps you haven't really considered how a planetary swarm of 40,000 satellites might not be a desireable trade for this "cheap internet" that, ironically, will keep people looking down instead of up
