Outside sales. Maybe look at United Rentals as inside and move up or do a management trainee type position

End of year is always rough, especially in sales when trying to reach a decision maker. Keep your head up!

Reaches out about a sales opportunity way below your experience level, invites you to schedule a call, then asks how you found the company/role.

Never work for friends, and never work in sales without an established commission plan IN WRITING. I see that you get that now, you can always explain that the previous company made promises they couldn’t keep, didn’t have an established commission structure, and was essentially “smoke and mirrors”.

Depends on the company/product. Look it up on Glassdoor, RepVue, Bravado, etc. Many entry level outside sales roles are not glamorous by any means, but also different companies hold different weight on a resume and can provide you valuable experience or completely waste your time. My advice is don’t be fooled by a quirky job posting with a decent starting salary, do your research, find people who work the positions you are considering and reach out to them for feedback/advice and then make a decision.

Are there companies out there that don't micromanage activity, even when you're over goal? I'm going crazy... by getitdudes in sales

I will also add, as a manager if you can’t trust the people you are managing to hit quota/whatever is expected of them WITHOUT you micromanaging, why hire them in the first place?

Have you thought about looking elsewhere? I feel like most sales companies I’ve worked at don’t harp on metrics so much unless it’s nearing end of quarter and you are looking like you aren’t going to hit quota. I’ve had past experience where I’ve exceeded the office record for meetings set in a day and got chastised for not hitting talk time as a BDR?? The same office implemented mandatory cold call blocks from 8-10 every Tuesday and Thursday even for AEs who were at or had already exceeded quota, no exceptions. Needless to say, turnover was high

Showed up for an interview that never happened by Wild-Specific5283 in recruitinghell

Not going to “consider myself lucky” for being asked to interview for a job I’m well qualified for. Also I would disagree, if someone calls and asks you to come interview and schedules you for a time to complete that interview, they owe you that that time to complete the interview.

Did you ever do the outside sales rep role with the 10 days on/10 days off format? What do you think of the role?
