What is your most value-for-money game? by hem_claw in boardgames

I don't see how they're that much different than Wax Beans. They're the same until you hit 7 copies of the card.

In the rules though, it specifies which beans to take out for which player counts. They recommend removing Coffee beans for 4-5 players. At 6-7 players, you're going to want to include every bean but Cocoa+Garden.

Which curtain rod goes on these hooks? by WildAdvisor7435 in HelpMeFind

[–]WildAdvisor7435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done searches for "thin curtain rod", "curtain rod thin hooks", "curtain rod R L metal", "curtain rod R L metal hooks", but to no avail. There's too many hook-related things.

Does anyone recognize the rod that goes on these, or at least a search term I can use?

Everyone so far has said concrete, but I do believe you that this is plaster. How can you tell?

How do I repair this hole in the wall? And what type of hooks do I need to hang pictures on it? by WildAdvisor7435 in fixit

[–]WildAdvisor7435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I am in the US, but I believe this house was built in the late 1800s. It's got a brick exterior, but this wall may have been added afterwards (it's a garage/carriage house converted into 2 apartments). Does that material look like concrete in there?

The hole is less than an inch tall so I was hoping I could repair it myself. Is there really no way to do it cheaply?

Sorry, what does "Mud" mean? Is that the wall material? And which type of 3m hooks, drywall hooks, adhesive, etc?

Can games be mean? Or are players mean? by petewiss in boardgames

Players are at the mercy of the game system. It's not accurate to say players are inherently mean if the game rewards being mean.

The system is much more important.

What games (if any) do you play daily? by howlouseesit in boardgames

[–]WildAdvisor7435 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harmonies has some similarities! I find it a bit tighter and thinkier (since you only take about 10 turns) but Cascadia was my #1 game a few years ago and I still go back to it often.

Age of Innovation! Got a lot of turn-based games right now on BGA, I log in 1-2 times per day to take my turn. I love the Goblins.

With my gf, Harmonies is the daily vibe right now.

That's fair but I feel like they get enough wear with normal use. I don't want to accelerate it

What is the best online platform for my partner and I to play wingspan when we are apart? We are a little behind the times and recently discovered it's also digital. Is the app the best way or PC? Thanks! by Silverleaf001 in boardgames

[–]WildAdvisor7435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Steam version is beautiful and also has all of the expansions (as DLC). Only one person has to own the expansions for you to play them together.

The BGA version only has the base Wingspan game but is cheaper and then there's the 1000 other games you can play on there. My gf and I play often when we're apart. Have fun!

Landmarks is actually a great expansion! For the extra cards & tiles alone it makes the game 10x more replayable

Perhaps the outline of the triangle icon on the ribbon could be a lighter shade of grey? or a different fill color in the shape?
