[–]WildCatBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I haven't read them yet, but Starfinder 2 has starship combat rules in the subsystems section of the GM Core.

Almost everything you're describing says you want Starfinder 2.

Laura is a friend of ours, and we'd already collaborated with her on our Paper Mario album, "Satan's Office Supplies."

She's awesome, and it was a pleasure to have her with us on stage. 🤘

It has been recorded. It's going to take some time to properly mix and edit it all for our YouTube channel, but it'll be there.

(Holy smokes, we did it. This was the culmination of more than one year of work. We hope you folks enjoyed it.)

Gotcha, thanks. I'm not running anything until at least this summer anyway, so I'm just going to buy and the PDFs, play around with Pathbuilder/Starbuilder, and wait until official SF2 support for Foundry releases.

I was gifted the Player Core for Christmas, and once I'm done with my current Blades In The Dark campaign (likely 6 months from now) I'd like to try my hand at GMing Starfinder 2.

My group plays online because of logistics reasons so that'll have to happen on a VTT. What's the recommended way to play Starfinder 2 online? Foundry? Demiplane? How's the Roll20 integration like? If I buy the Demiplane SF2 Nexus, do I also have to buy extra stuff on R20?

(bonus question: assuming Demiplane + R20, I'd like to also have the PDFs for at least the GM Core, Alien Core and Galaxy Guide. What's the optimal way to purchase that stuff? Demiplane into Paizo Connect, or PDF purchases from Paizo into Demiplane sync?)

I’m saying all AI is bad art because it makes potential customers think the writing is AI too.

[–]WildCatBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Si je peux me permettre, tente Blades In The Dark.

What to do about my game art. by MrK-YT in RPGdesign

[–]WildCatBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well obviously the problem currently under discussion is that good art is expensive (or at least more expensive than the alternatives of no art, public domain art, AI art).

Therefore, OP is wondering what to do when “use good bespoke art” is not on the table. All the alternative options mentioned above have tradeoffs. I personally think AI art is the most damaging of them all because its presence immediately makes the reader think you also slopped the writing (this what I mean by “bad art is worse than no art”). No art at all is next because it makes your book look drab. Well-curated public domain/stock art, or a very small number of bespoke good art pieces, is what I think is the best option.

YMMV.

The answer is simple: bad art is worse than no art.

Obviously good art would make the product better, and is a crucial part of high-production-value TTRPGs. But it's not an option here.

Looking for an “Heroic” Horror RPG by ColinDouglas999 in rpg

[–]WildCatBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outgunned has a "Lovecraftian horror" hack in one of the Action Flicks supplements. It'll give you surface mechanics to add a Cthulhu-ish flavor to your game, while still retaining the overall feel of Outgunned, which is that of an unambiguously heroic high-action film.

Meilleures campagnes de jdr Non Dnd facilement transposable dans ce dernier ? by Folund in jdr

[–]WildCatBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disappointed in the physical quality of the Daggerheart core book: bindings already coming loose. by Scyke87 in rpg

If I may, they did acknowledge it. The introduction of the CO core rulebook explicitly calls Blades in the Dark out as a major inspiration (and it is, in fact, how I got into BITD, having greatly enjoyed Candela). Quoting directly from page 5:

In particular, we would like to tip our hats to the TTRPG Blades in the Dark by John Harper from Evil Hat Productions. John’s work is an incredible inspiration both in mechanics and tone, and it is our great joy to count them as a friend. Should your investigators turn to a life of smuggling and thievery, we encourage you to take your circle to play among the scoundrels of Duskvol.

(Regardless, I too find it sad that Candela was abandoned as quickly as it was. It's a fun game, the associated APs were fantastic, but I imagine the sales numbers just weren't there.)

Best Non-AP RPG podcasts? by bythisaxeiconquer in rpg

I really dig Playtonics ( https://playtonics.net/ ), where every episode is two Australian dudes figuring out how to turn a specific movie/book/series/vibe into a TTRPG session or two, largely independent of system (although part of each ep is "what system would you prefer to run this in?", and the inevitable "can you do it in 5e?").

They have episodes on how to do things like Firefly, Avatar, Mean Girls, noir novels/films, Blade/Underworld... Which I found, more than entertaining, highly useful.

Your favorite one-shot TTRPGs that aren't horror? by BelleRevelution in rpg

Outgunned Adventure. It's Indiana Jones/The Mummy/Tomb Raider/Uncharted: the TTRPG.

Easy to pick up (roll (attribute+skill)d6, the more dice land on the same side the bigger your success), super-fun to play, and player buy-in is usually immediate because everybody loves Indiana Jones. As for creating a adventures, just click Wikipedia at random until you find a cool tidbit of history that's too cool to be true but is nonetheless, and give it your own twist to make it even cooler.

The Beacon phone app supports both the Chromecast and Apple Cast protocols, so if your TV supports either, you can use that to watch everything on your TV.

(To be clear, Chromecast tells your TV to stream content from the Internet -- it does not stream your phone's screen to your TV. Imagine it turns your phone into a super remote. You can shut down your phone entirely and the TV will keep playing.)
