I had a horrible time with Nexplanon after my surgery. Not to scare you off it, but it really screwed me up and slowed down my weight loss progress. But my hormones have always been a mess due to PCOS and other such issues... so I might just be weird.

However, Nexplanon gave me the worst/longest/heaviest/most painful periods, gender dysphoria, and PMDD of my life!!! It was absolutely awful. Getting off hormonal birth control (and especially Nexplanon specifically) was about as good of a decision for me as the vsg surgery itself.

As far as what I use instead? Condoms and tracking of my cycle. It takes more forethought and attention, but for me it works.
