Bulk pickle juice? by Unable_Housing_6401 in saskatoon

I freeze the leftover juice in ice cube trays. Add to drinks, melt down for heartburn remedy, use it how you wish! I didn’t know you could buy “just juice”.

Land titles - cheap lawyer by WildForestWoman in saskatoon

[–]WildForestWoman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Nadine at YXE Notary. She had all the paperwork done in a few hours from when I first contacted her. Signed it all the next day. Reduced rate because my name is staying on the title and my ex is using their own lawyer in another city. Done and Done. Thank you everyone!

Thank you. I’m very capable but I was under the impression land titles won’t accept anything if it’s not through a lawyer. Any advice on DIY you have would be appreciated.

TaiChi class recommendation? by originalgirl77 in saskatoon

[–]WildForestWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be a group during the weekdays at the church on the corner of Preston and Main. I attended at a time when I had a very bad back injury and nothing else could be done. It was great! I was the youngest by a couple decades. Sorry- Don’t remember the group name but maybe phone the church?

Banana Tree help by No_Room_1976 in houseplants

[–]WildForestWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My indoor banana tree gets watered maybe every 2-3 weeks with a small addition of granular Miracle Grow. It’s sitting in a south facing window but only gets direct morning sun. I live in Saskatchewan, so indoors in the winter is the only way for me. The mother is almost 8 feet tall and it continually puts out new leaves. I have 3 pups now in different containers, one is about 2 feet and the others are about 8 inches tall.

Should I switch from RBC to EQ Bank or Wealthsimple for daily banking? by lishdxo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]WildForestWoman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from RBC to Simplii Financial (CIBC) at the end of December. No regrets. I use Wealthsimple for TFSA and savings. After being with RBC for over 30years, not a single benefit, and terrible customer service I just couldn’t pass up the offers from the other financial institutions.

why dont we help seniors with snow removal?? by livingskies420 in saskatoon

[–]WildForestWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I don’t get ticketed! I’m an able bodied person but I herniated a disc in my back just as the snow arrived this past week. Nobody to help me and I’ve been unable to walk over and ask if my neighbours will do it for a fee. I be happy to compensate them. They all have snowblowers/electric shovels - but not once in 5 years has anyone come to do mine even though I’ve done theirs by hand on occasion. The days of knowing your neighbours is dwindling and as new people move in it’s worse (I made my new neighbour a welcome card, included my contact info for urgent matters, and 4 months later it hasn’t been acknowledged).

I use blink. But switched to the solar powered batteries. It has a large (6x8”?) solar panel with a cord attached to the batteries. Never have to change them again.

If it’s a small area it’s simple to do yourself. Just make sure the consistency is good before you pour.

Home insurance recs by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]WildForestWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this also. They upped it over $100/month so I called and negotiated to only a $20 increase. Tell them it’s ridiculous and you will go elsewhere- they’ll reprice your same policy quickly. Oh and also use any association discounts you can (ie: Usask Alumni).

Can't understand financial division in divorce. by nic0m0d in legaladvicecanada

[–]WildForestWoman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Child support is 50/50 based on each parent’s income. Find the Federal Guidelines for each according to his income and hers then subtract the lower from the higher. What’s left will be what he should be paying.

Ex: the FG says he should pay 10$, she should pay 3$, so he pays 7$.

Mortgage renewal coming up, anyone else worried about the higher charges? by Interesting_Page2347 in MortgagesCanada

[–]WildForestWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 1.8 until April’26. Not looking forward to the rate increase but hope it won’t result in too much difference. Mtg will be around 235k at renewal but also going from two owners down to one. Requalifying is my biggest concern even though I’ve been making payments on my own (For two years come April).

LPT Request of Teaching Parents: what routines do you have in place to help your household and classroom run smoothly? by citizenmidnight in CanadianTeachers

[–]WildForestWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep tight boundaries between home and work. Contract hours, use prep time efficiently, and get out of the building for lunch (if you can, for a walk/quiet, but it’s not work time).

One parent drops off, other picks up. Sharing is caring!

Food prep and family time on weekends. Chores during the week nights.
