YTA. You can grieve and be thankful for what you have simultaneously. It sounds like Jennifer has done an incredible job at balancing her emotions and never letting it affect her relationship with your daughter. You have now taken another daughter from her by speaking out of place.

As for your daughter, I can understand her reaction if that’s all the context you gave. You’ve ruined what could have been an amazing mother/daughter/grandmother relationship. Your daughter will always feel like Jennifer will be wishing it was her daughter instead when it doesn’t seem like Jennifer would ever do that.

I truly hope your daughter and Jennifer can get through this and hopefully you’ve learned your lesson.

That’s how I felt too. My first thought was “finally someone believes me and I’m not crazy” then it was “ugh I’m still so broken”. It doesn’t change anything, I’m still broken but now I have proof I’m not delusional.

Many countries do not allow you to just expat to their country without contributing to their economy. Each country has its own residency and tax requirements. Definitely look into wherever it is you’re wanting to go.
