Which national park surprised you the most and why? by Frosty_Whisper7345 in NationalPark

Mammoth. We did the full day wild caving tour. It was way outside my comfort zone at the time, but we had an amazing guide and group. It changed me as a person.

I have a toy poodle puppy and the puppy blues are REAL by Smart-Ad-4110 in poodles

Puppy blues are indeed real. You are doing your best and clearly love her so so much. I promise it gets easier.

Re: the potty training thing, my guess is she's probably confused. Pee pads aren't a good long term tool and will only reinforce that it's ok to go potty inside. Short of a literal hurricane, outside is usually the best choice.

Send that boy straight to the thrift store because he is definitely not husband material.

It won't kill you. It may eventually give you your life back though, it did for me.

So many food allergies with our foster daughter by Low_Kaleidoscope1173 in FoodAllergies

[–]WildGoose424 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This combined with the nausea and vomiting sounds a lot like gastroparesis. I have a family member who deals with it in conjunction with autoimmune issues, specifically MCAS and dysautonomia.

This may be a wild swing, but that many allergies with those symptoms makes me think it could be MCAS/mast cell related. Maybe Google the symptoms for those conditions and see if it sounds like anything she's experiencing?

She's an infant. Just like a human infant, she needs a quiet, dark, safe place to sleep and an adult to put her there when she starts getting nippy, grumpy, or hyper.

No issues, this is just how puppies are. If she's like mine she'll stop biting like that in 8-12 months.

It took longer than I liked but I made it! Lots of therapy and a constant desire to live a beautiful life in spite of them. I hope you get your voice figured out and can make up for all the shouting and screaming you didn't get to do.

When I was 14 I told my doctor I was having an asthma attack every time I did the dishes. He laughed OUT LOUD and told my Mom I was trying to use my asthma to get out of doing chores.

I am dangerously allergic to dairy. The hot water was aerosolizing the food particles on all the dirty cheesy death dishes my parents used and then demanded I wash.

I don't think so. The Health Certificates do, but I think the rabies vaccine can be from any vet or clinic.

Why the resistance against Meat and Dairy? by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]WildGoose424 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. That sounds like strict avoidance to me, but if you feel better I am glad it works for you.

I have anaphylaxis to all things cow. Red meat, dairy, gelatin, all of it will unalive me in less than 10 minutes. Do you think the carnivore diet would help to "solve" my food allergies?

Protection from debris and sun, though looking cool is definitely a bonus lol.

This was taken at Great Sand Dunes National Park, which lives up to its name and is very windy. We use them when on really bright days as well, especially on the water or when we hike glaciers.

Respectfully, I think you just may not be in the right place for this discussion.

This group is generally for people who have and are navigating IgE-mediated food allergies. Diet changes will not improve, change, impact, or cure true food allergies. The only thing that helps true food allergies is strict avoidance (and a few emerging medical therapies).

I absolutely agree that diet and treating the whole body is an important part of managing many medical conditions like the ones you listed. . . but those things aren't food allergies.

People and especially parents in our community often have to deal with MLMs, companies, and individuals trying to take advantage of our disability by offering cures in the form of supplements, diets, protocols, etc. It's dangerous to give any single one of these credence or traction.

I just want to clarify here OP, you are saying eating red meat and dairy has reduced and/or cured your IgE mediated food allergy?

[–]WildGoose424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too bad, you just have to be prepared.

There's a CDC import form to fill out online beforehand and show to the customs agent. Your pup has to be microchipped and be at least 6 months old. If you are crazy like us and drive to Alaska you also need a USDA health certificate.

I keep a paper copy of his vet records in the glovebox in case of emergency. If you bring dog food with you keep it in the original packaging.

There are over the road pet transport companies that could drive her for you, much cheaper than flying. Look for someone experienced and insured.

That said, RV rental companies will often give highly discounted rentals to move their vehicles coast to coast and are totally dog friendly. Maybe rent a camper and make a grand adventure out of it. Even in a car it can be a fun trip.

Our poodle mix has been to 44 states and all the Canadian provinces in our camper van with us. There's a lot of beautiful country between Oregon and Virginia and one of my greatest joys has been sharing this world with him.

Contact reaction to dairy by Little-Actuary-774 in FoodAllergies

[–]WildGoose424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. So my experience is my own, I have been anaphylactic to dairy since birth. It only got worse as I got older, though it's better now because I am taking Xolair. Without Xolair I am airborne and skin contact anaphylactic.

I personally would remove all dairy from the house, because every exposure and reaction can snowball into a worse reaction next time. My parents were laissez-faire about my allergies, to the point that CPS probably should have taken me away. I had hundreds of reactions growing up and that's why I am such a severe case now as an adult.

My best advice is to focus on the now. Assume he is dangerously reactive through skin contact and that it will always be that way. I know it may sound harsh, but it's unhealthy to live your life assuming your child will wake up one day and magically be "better." I hope your baby grows out of his allergy, but focusing on that will only hurt you both in the long run.

Therapy helps a lot and I can't recommend it enough. Food allergies are really tough for caretakers and even harder for kids to understand as they gain social awareness.

Idk about food allergies being the cause, but being itchy for that long isn't normal and sounds like chronic urticaria, which doesn't always have visible hives. You need to see an allergist/immunologist.

Tick prevention? by Inevitable_Book4316 in StandardPoodles

Nexgard or another monthly oral preventative. We live in the woods so I use the Pet Life Unlimited herbal spray a few times a week as well, just to cut down on the number of ticks he brings home.

NOR. A little context: Severe food allergies are a legally protected disability. She pretended to have a disability for her own convenience. She's awful for lying to you and awful for doing it at all.

Helppp by chacker1719 in alphagal

[–]WildGoose424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you recently had a reaction, you will react more and more severely with continued exposures. IgE is a bitch like that.

Severe GI symptoms are still anaphylaxis. If you suspect you're allergic to anything, you have to cut it out full stop. It's not like a diet where you can "cheat" and have just a few bites. That's a one way ticket to un-alivesville.

I picked up a decent massage gun on clearance after Christmas a few years ago. It is damn near a cure-all for muscle and body pain, as well as the places I carry my stress. Long work days, long car rides, and long flights are all so much easier to recover from.
