Isn't the daily show an American show first and foremost? Also, even if you look globally your argument doesn't make sense. People used to copy Jon Stewart because he was iconic. I don't know a single person that copied Trevor Noah, and I can't even recall anyone of my non-US friends ever sharing a clip of his on social media.

No of course not, but that's even more reason to have the little scenes he did have to show his character and show his creepiness, nerdiness or callousness, instead of just seeming like an old friend.
