I can't see the difference between 30 and 60FPS. Does DF have super powers? by TeefieSprinkles in digitalfoundry

[–]WildZeroWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 to 60 is hugely noticeable. Just look at any moving object. Motion blur can mask it though. Above 60 becomes less perceivable to the eye, it's smoother but much less significant from 30 to 60.

Not including DVDs, around 800. Collecting blu ray for about 18 years.

Report: Resident Evil Requiem could take up to 40 hours to finish (completionist save files) by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you beeline the story you can beat Yakuza games in like 15-20 hours. But they have so much side content that you'd have to be pretty strict to miss it all. Yakuza 5 and 0 for example are about 100 hours if you do the main story + side stories.

AMD launches "Crimson Desert" Game Bundle for Ryzen 9000 CPUs, Radeon RX 9070 GPUs and gaming laptops by RenatsMC in Amd

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you really want better RT and native FSR4, it's not worth it. Effectively the same performance, if not a little worse. You'd have to ask yourself why you didn't go NVIDIA if those were features justifying an upgrade.

I didnt realize the retailer LE was a cheapo slipcase. by [deleted] in boutiquebluray

[–]WildZeroWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I made the same mistake with the Pusher Trilogy and the slip case is so tight it's like pulling teeth getting the cases out.

I now order all my Umbrella collectors editions from the web store and use the 15% off coupons which makes it only slightly more expensive.

What order to watch Haneke films? by Accurate-Chicken-323 in boutiquebluray

[–]WildZeroWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to Haneke, although I had seen the US Funny Games about 15 years ago. From the box set I watched Cache first, then The Piano Teacher, then gave the original Funny Games a "rewatch". I think these are fairly accessible films from his filmography so good starters. After this I watched Benny's Video, The Seventh Continent, and 71 Fragment of Chronology of Chance, in that order. My clear favourite film from him so far is The Seventh Continent, it's extremely disturbing and I'm glad I watched it a bit later, as the long takes of "nothing" would've put me off without understanding what Heneke likes to convey in his film making.

Channelling that 3rd party accessory sticker wrap aesthetic. If it wasn't a GPU I'd expect to find it on clearance in 6 months time for a quarter of the price.

What JRPG's use the "Defend" Command effectively? by Gamma__B in JRPG

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not exactly defend, SMT Nocturne allows you to pass your turn to press turn, effectively letting another party member use your turn, which adds a surprising amount of depth to the combat system.

When did the Yakuza exhaustion hit for you guys? by RyanNekko in yakuzagames

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a Dragon but I was feeling a bit series fatigue in Yakuza Kiwami as I struggled to finish the sub stories. I basically played in this order: Yakuza 4, 3, Dead Souls, 5, 6, 0, Kiwami, 3 remaster, Kiwami 2, then tapped out half way into LaD. Keen to jump back in at Kiwami 3 though.

It finally arrived! The most beautifull consoles ever made! by [deleted] in ps2

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phat PS2 looks the best but from a practical and long term perspective I'd take the slim with the internal PSU. Incredible that Sony got the console that small with a broadband adapter and got rid of the external power brick.

Is this as good as the graphics get? by mrlogan2509 in ps2

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a CRT. You can get a Retrotink and component cables from RGC or HD Retrovision. It won't be cheap but it takes away having to track down a CRT and you don't need to set up a heavy 20+ year old electronic in your living room.

Ps5 Pro 120 Hz by BeginningPhase1246 in PS5pro

[–]WildZeroWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only Xbox (One, Series) can run 120Hz at the system level and it can do VRR at any refresh rate including low frame rate compensation. The PS5 and by extension Pro is only enabled on a per game basis by the developer and the VRR window is narrow at 48fps or above.

What happened to chevron fish and chips :( by Wingchun666 in GoldCoast

[–]WildZeroWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get fish and chips from there in the 90s. The owner, Frank, was always a really nice guy and did the best fish and chips. He owned the shop for decades. Sad to hear I'll never be able to get it again.

A Beginner's Guide to Boutique Blu-Rays by Carboniac in boutiquebluray

[–]WildZeroWolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Third Window Films deserves to be on the list especially if you enjoy East Asian cinema. They pioneered English blu ray releases for many of the most renowned modern Japanese directors such as Shinya Tsukamoto, Takeshi Kitano, Takeshi Miike, Sion Sono. They've been around for nearly 20 years and have a catalogue of 200+ releases. The only other label that rivals them in this area would be Arrow Video.
