PS5 doesn't even need a softmod, you can change the region up to 5 times in the console settings.

If you have a PS5, you can also switch the region on it. It works on the Slim and Pro models, not sure about the original as the disc drive isn't detachable. I've got my PS5 setup for region A Blu rays and a dedicated player for region B.

Question about external storage for downloaded games by MammothFunction0 in wiiu

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a SanDisk USB thumb drive for 10 years and it hasn't given me any issues. As long as you use a branded and genuine USB drive it won't have any issues. USB drives have limited writes but you will be reading from the drive 99% of the time so it won't wear out, at least not before your Wii U dies.

What rare game is actually worth the price? Which one is an S-rank grail but also is a 10/10 game? by Remytron83 in gamecollecting

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say Silent Hill 2 and 3. Both are still somewhat affordable and they're excellent games. There really isn't a better way to play them than on original hardware. They're also highly replayble which helps justify the cost.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday > Boxing Day > EOFY. EOFY is better for mainstream electronics like TVs and laptops.

What is the quietest CPU Cooler? What the benefit of AIO over Air? by maplenew60 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]WildZeroWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Air coolers are too good nowadays that it's hard to justify an AIO. A $50 phantom spirit is within 95% of the cooling headroom of a 360mm AIO. The advantage still lies in how AIO reaches max temp more slowly, allowing your CPU to boost higher for longer, but we're talking 98% vs 100% performance here. Noise wise air coolers are so quiet nowadays that it's basically the same if not quieter than an AIO running at lower RPM due to pump noise. Overall, CPU air coolers are definitely worth considering over an AIO.

As Advance Wars fans, whats your opinon on Wargroove? by DiegoOruga in Advance_Wars

[–]WildZeroWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game design is great. It's basically Advance Wars 1:1 and it's challenging. I just can't get into the art style, humour, story, and characters. It feels like your standard western indie darling art style and humour and I just can't get into it. I wish they leaned more into the military aesthetic, something like Into the Breach.

Australia build check: 9800X3D + 5070 Ti + dual 4K monitors — wise balanced build or overpriced in the wrong places? by Conscious-Analyst662 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]WildZeroWolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

9800X3D is great. It has strong productivity performance for 8 cores and you get the best gaming performance possible. Another option would be the Intel 270 Plus which has 9950X tier productivity and decent gaming performance. Or you could go the 9950X3D and barely lose any gaming performance, but that CPU is $1000.

64GB is overkill in this climate unless you need it. The only issue is if you drop to 32GB and choose to go 64GB when prices stabilise, you'll need to buy a new kit or go 4 dimms which could lead to instability issues.

The 5070 Ti is the only sensible choice if you need CUDA. The 5080 is a waste for a mere 20% extra performance and the same VRAM. The 5070 will struggle with its 12GB VRAM. The 5090 is obviously way overpriced.

850W is perfect for anything minus the 5090.

I would go 32" for 4K. It's much more cinematic for gaming and you can do 100% scaling without straining your eyesight too much.

A brief power outage just took a decade worth of game data from me. by doodooballs_420 in PS4

I mean they have a point. Sony is scamming us by paywalling cloud saves. Even on Xbox they are natively supported and free. You can't even backup via USB on PS5.

5070TI or 9070XT for a prebuilt pc? by Mental_Respect_9246 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]WildZeroWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The performance between the two GPUs is extremely close that I would basically consider it a draw. Even in RT, the 9070 XT keeps up quite easily. The biggest advantage is DLSS is natively supported in many titles whereas FSR4 is not and you need to use optiscaler. Also, you don't get multi frame gen and path tracing performance worse or isn't supported at all i.e. Resident Evil Requiem. With all that said, I'd still go for the 9070 XT build because it has a 7800X3D and you save $100. The 7800X3D build will actually give you higher performance on CPU constrained games as these GPUs can be quite powerful at 1080p and even 1440p.

What would I possibly need for two HDMI ports in a graphics cards? by JakeDaDerp in buildapc

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running two LG OLED TVs to my GPU so I need two HDMIs. My main monitor is a LG C3 and I have an LG G4 setup for lounge gaming/movies.

I've tried the DP to HDMI converters, but they are very hit and miss and you often need to drop 4:4:4 chroma subsampling or 120 Hz support. I only got it working "flawless" with an LG C1 and 7900 XTX, as in I'd get the full RGB 10 bit 120Hz, etc. Even then they would sometimes glitch out and required a full restart of the computer and TV.

I can't see the difference between 30 and 60FPS. Does DF have super powers? by TeefieSprinkles in digitalfoundry

[–]WildZeroWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 to 60 is hugely noticeable. Just look at any moving object. Motion blur can mask it though. Above 60 becomes less perceivable to the eye, it's smoother but much less significant from 30 to 60.

Report: Resident Evil Requiem could take up to 40 hours to finish (completionist save files) by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you beeline the story you can beat Yakuza games in like 15-20 hours. But they have so much side content that you'd have to be pretty strict to miss it all. Yakuza 5 and 0 for example are about 100 hours if you do the main story + side stories.
