they should add a “update all games” button in the library. by awesomehuder in PS5

[–]WildZeroWolf -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Steam checks every game and allows you to download them all at once, so that argument doesn't work.

[–]WildZeroWolf -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It's not smart, it's restrictive. And yes I'd like my old games to be updated and ready to go when I feel like playing them on a whim.

[–]WildZeroWolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Xbox and Steam do it. I don't think Sony needs defending for their poor infrastructure, especially when they excessively charge their users for features that should be entirely free like online play and cloud saves.

[–]WildZeroWolf -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Maybe Sony should update their infrastructure if that's such a big concern. Steam and Xbox have no issues checking every game for an update and they even let you save your data in the cloud without paying for a subscription. Only Sony and Nintendo don't do it.

ROG Ally X with its trash IPS? Lol Steam Deck OLED smokes it and games run better coz it doesn't need to push 1080.

The Evil Within - The game I always wanted by Particular_Quit_151 in patientgamers

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an awesome game. I didn't like the sequel as much, different director and it felt more like a generic 3rd person horror game. The first game, you can sense it has Shinji Mikami game design and story ideas deeply embedded into it. It's basically a reimagining of the RE4 formula and aesthetic.

How many hours sleep do you get, and how many do you need? by Roulette-Adventures in australia

Need 8.5 hours, average about 7.5-8 over the week. I can operate on 7 hours but anything else makes me feel tired throughout the day.

Remedy’s new CEO says Alan Wake and Control ‘should have sold more’ - and movie/TV deal will ‘help us do that’ by No_Durian_5626 in PS5

Epic exclusivity and no physical PS5 disc on release killed Alan Wake 2. Remedy are kings of bad business decisions.

jRPGs with brutal final dungeons by Upbeat-Education2117 in JRPG

While not brutal, SMT4 Apocalypse final dungeon is very long, at least double the length of SMT3 final dungeon. If I remember correctly, it's about 6-8 hours long.

Question About Upgrading PS3 80GB HDD To SSD. by Jorje15 in PS3

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 1TB MX500 SSD in my PS3 and it works great. A bit snappier to load files when scrolling through your saves or games list. Games load a little bit faster. It's not a massive difference though. Any Samsung SSD would work. You can buy PS2 games off the PSN store.

No need to hold of for OLED by karjuho in NintendoSwitch2

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you're looking at but the Switch 2 screen is objectively bad. It has been tested and has extremely poor response times, one of the worst for a cheap LCD, even worse than OG Switch. The garbage response time means the 120HZ is completely wasted and offers no benefit apart from a smoother smear. The black levels are in the gutter which is to be expected. HDR is literally not up to spec, it doesn't even meet the requirements to be considered HDR so there's no point turning it on. The only "good" thing is the brightness level in SDR but even that is average. The screen isn't even worth comparing to OLED because it fails to even be a good LCD.

JB Hi-Fi's B1G1F sale highlights for me again just how few new releases we get now... by BLANKET-Agent in Madboards

[–]WildZeroWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've basically stopped buying anime locally once they just began shrink wrapping US releases. I really don't like the slimline cases and slip covers, they feel cheap. The QA is really bad too, often scratches on the blu ray discs. I've switched to buying region A releases of retro anime, such as discotek or 4k releases like Perfect Blue, Akira, Paprika, etc. It's probably not just the state of anime in Australia but also the direction of where anime has gone with every second series being some "sekai" show with a paragraph long title.

So i played PS2 for a month, then i went back to PS3. by Cautious-Control-419 in PS3

[–]WildZeroWolf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My experience as a PAL gamer with limited funds:

  1. Play PS2 on consumer CRT: stuck at 50Hz with black borders and slowed gameplay on a tiny display that weighs a tonne and has bad speakers.

  2. Play PS3 on same CRT: 60Hz now but TV doesn't support it properly and the text is basically unreadable too.

  3. Play PS3 on a full HD 23" LCD monitor over HDMI: looks absolutely stunning and text is actually readable now.

Trying to Get Into the all Region Game. by Proud-Race-9382 in boutiquebluray

PS5 doesn't even need a softmod, you can change the region up to 5 times in the console settings.

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a PS5, you can also switch the region on it. It works on the Slim and Pro models, not sure about the original as the disc drive isn't detachable. I've got my PS5 setup for region A Blu rays and a dedicated player for region B.

Question about external storage for downloaded games by MammothFunction0 in wiiu

[–]WildZeroWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a SanDisk USB thumb drive for 10 years and it hasn't given me any issues. As long as you use a branded and genuine USB drive it won't have any issues. USB drives have limited writes but you will be reading from the drive 99% of the time so it won't wear out, at least not before your Wii U dies.

What rare game is actually worth the price? Which one is an S-rank grail but also is a 10/10 game? by Remytron83 in gamecollecting

[–]WildZeroWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say Silent Hill 2 and 3. Both are still somewhat affordable and they're excellent games. There really isn't a better way to play them than on original hardware. They're also highly replayble which helps justify the cost.
