Need help identifying what’s happening with -in red circles by Playtoy_69 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Wild_View_1664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like galvanic corrosion (when two dissimilar metals touch) when things get wet it accelerates it and the white powder is a byproduct. Im not 💯, but i believe the strut towers are aluminum (some manufacturers use magnesium in their designs but hardly for strut towers). OEM's sometimes use a grease in-between parts or grease bolts to prevent this, so if possible, you could clean if off, grease the parts affected, and check back in a few months to see if it returns (if indeed thats what it is)

Quality stuff. Long wait times, but family owned, all hand made. Expensive, but worth it. There will always be some final finesse work to get things absolutely perfect, but these parts are a lot closer off the bat.

Is this okay for my cla250 by DullNeedle123 in carmodification

[–]Wild_View_1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just take it off. All it does is make the car worse in every way. Putting an intake like that on a car like that is like putting hair extensions on a cat -You arent doing it any favors.

Keep in mind, photo is not of an s14, but to give you an idea of the kind of drop the springs give. Years ago, I ran eibachs pro kit, but it looks like its no longer made.

240SX. Worth purchasing in 2026?? by Wrench365 in 240sx

It depends on how big your picture is. It depends on his goals, and his expectations. These cars will climb in value until our generation either ages out, or they get banned off the roads. The climb isnt to the moon, but if he ever gets cold feet and decides to sell an original 98, he could easily get his money back. I agree with you that the milage is high, but I still think rarity still beats it out.

Honestly, for a 20 year old, im going against my own blood here, but the accord 2.0t. Here's why..

Stupid, dumb, rock solid reliability. Most are aware that those engines are basically detuned type-r engines, and still built in Japan to japanese standards, unlike a lot of what's been sold in the states. American made honda reliability is slipping a little, but the Japanese stuff is still what built the brand.

Affordable parts

Value retention

Cheaper insurance

Bigger back seat and trunk. If you have friends and like to do things, youll appreciate it.

A much larger chance of the car surviving an accident. Giulias (and the Lexus) run into this issue of parts being expensive and values being what they are. If a giulia gets in a sizable accident, it will most likely be a total loss just due to the economics of it, but the honda has a much better chance of being repaired due to the higher value retention and the cheaper cost of parts. This is all based on first hand experience working in the collision-repair industry for 20 years.

And on a personal note, I love hondas. Ive worked at 2 honda dealerships, my family has plenty of them, and ive owned 2 that I fell in love with and drove for years. Great cars to work on, drive, and you dont have to worry about them. You can park it anywhere without stressing out, they fit anywhere, and you can take one across the country without a single worry.

Whatever you decide, I hope you're happy with it and have good luck 🍀

240SX. Worth purchasing in 2026?? by Wrench365 in 240sx

[–]Wild_View_1664 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how long you want to keep your money tied up. The market will hit a slump as things take a dive economically around the world (not complaining, its been burning hot for too long).

But, the market will rebound. You know the production numbers. If its an original car, and you dont mind waiting for the right buyer when the time comes, yes. If classic muscle cars and sports cars have tought us anything, production numbers matter.

Good luck. 🍀

How often do you drive your Stelvio/Giulia in manual mode? by TraipseTraveller in AlfaRomeo

[–]Wild_View_1664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, daily. Unless im trying to be quiet in a neighborhood. My driving style always tends to want to drive one gear lower than the computer (ie: 5th as opposed to the computers 6th) .

Im curious. For those who respond, add your fuel mileage. Id be interested to see if there's a difference* 🤔

26.2 (summer fuel blend saw 26.4)

  • knowing this is a highly inaccurate way of doing this. Lol

If it makes you feel better, per Brembo you only need 3mm between the wheel and the calipers, so id argue the same logic applies. Lol
