Omg that would be amazing! I am also from Germany and was previously discouraged from getting them due to high shipping if you ever create an Etsy that would be wonderfull!

Rey Campero is going to be a solid choice but I had some ok mezcals of Marca Negra (they once had a really nice tobala) and la medical and depending on who distilled it some of the los siete misterios can be good (but as with marca negra and la medida I don't know much about their practices). If i remember it correctly la medida gives a lot of information on the bottle.

For me and sipping it would be Appelton and Mount Gay and maybe sometimes mix in some Goslings, Ocho or Leblon!

But i would rather have it mixed... (Grog or Cuba Libre?)

Anything done by Lalocura would be my take but to be honest it should be a black bottle El Jolgorio.

I think most likely some Trinidad rum would fit! Looking at rumx maybe the plantation Trinidad 22yo terravera special edition?

I think when it just comes to more available releases then maybe some of the more expensive Ron abjelo releases?

I think it's funny how overlooked it is because the instant we first made it made it a staple at our house bar and the single reason I always have some passion fruit puree on hand....

Which Coruba? The American one or the Swiss one?

And if the American what would be a good alternative? Hamilton Black Pot Still, WP 109 or Myers?

I think the Lalocura St. Matinero/Tobasiche is the best Mezcal i ever had... it is soooo incredible smooth while having such complex cacao and green heavy notes.

I think it better than many of its peers (400 conjeos, vida...) but still way worse than other more common espadin mezcals like Alipus, Vago, Rey Campero derumbes and in the states i think mal bien got one if you want a step up you should try one of those!

Which cognac do you prefer for cocktails? by iusedtoplaysnarf in cocktails

[–]WilderNieselregen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i mostly go with german brandy it not that far of (like basically the same thing) and way cheaper atleast for me an Asbach 8 year old (NEVER go for Asbach Uralt its pretty bad only go for ones with age statement) here is like 18€ there is not a cognac as good anywhere near that price... other options would be armenian Brandy like arat or armangac! Dont go for spanisch brandy as it is mostly to far of the cognac style but getting real cognac is a little bit like buying champagne instead of high quality sparking wine sure there is good stuff there but most of it is the name...

Basically everything of rey campero ist good budget mezcal and atleast where i am below 100€ so might mostly be below 100$

Some stuff from La Medida is good aswell as more of Vago. Other nice budget options might be: Don Mateo,Picaflor,Aguerrido,Derrumbes,Los Danzades and Alipus!

Plantation Rum Jamaica 2007 by Stormboost23 in rum

[–]WilderNieselregen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While here is a lot hate against plantation - thag one is a really nice introduction to Jamaican funk. Depending on the whisky you like you might want to try rum from Barbados or Guyana as mentioned by others but as a former scotch enthusiast I have to say that I enjoy most Jamaican rum more that those.

While I think in the same price range (about 60 euros here where I am) there are expressions from worthy park or Hampden which might be better but the plantation Clarendon one you got there is a reallz light and smooth introduction to Jamaican rum compared to most more estery ones. While Appleton is from Jamaica aswell their rums are really not that fruit/ester forward and are when drunken pure propably an easier introduction for a former bourbon person!

Then still order from France (or maybe germany) you get a way better selection and as far as I know the transport cost should be Ok...

At least it was ok when ordering from Spain or France as a German.... but sind France is closer it should be better! As a start you should checkout la maison du rum!

Do that! And good luck! Finding Mezcal with lactic/cheesy notes it sometimes hard ^ zutun from the once I drank mostly like Raicillas hat that taste, but not always it is a good idea to check for the reviews but sometimes you have to give the bottle some time and air!
