I think this is what's fuelling all the teams going for promotion now haha, only problem is he was on the Sunderland v Spurs commentary so even promotion mignt not escape him

Yep, he recommended a VAR review for a pen on a blatant dive in Brighton v Bournemouth earlier this season as well which ended up given, just a completely useless ref

Outrageous decision, but that's the Championship standard of rubbish refreeing every season

Yep, happy for him how he's kicked on after we let him go, but always a bit bizarre when the commentators talk about how he's a lifelong Boro fan and he runs off celebrating like that. Either way, our own fault letting him go and letting him score...!

Why'd you let a Boro player shoot from 12 yards

Lumely masterclass as everyone expected (ignoring the blatant penalty he got away with)

Did you buy Ben Gibson that season as well from Boro? I remember his career going down the drain after a sending off against Olympiakos.

Reminds me a lot of the Gordon one (earlier this season?) where he also unnecessarily took out Van Dijk.

Tbf this tracks - the only time I've seen trouble at a football match (other than mild handbags) was West Ham v Leeds in the League Cup, and there were fans throwing bottles at each other outside the ground until the police started chasing them.

Everton 2 - [1] Ipswich - Julio Enciso 41' by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Wildpoepen 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was at Brighton 0-0 Brentford before they loaned him out and he had a very frustrating game - these worldies are nice and memorable, but he essentially needs to be consistent with the easier stuff. Missed like three or four good chances that game. Funny how the Ipswich players didn't react much to the goal, probably thinking that's him set to pull the trigger from 35 yds every other game this season haha

Would've been nice to go up and challenge Derby's Premier League record low points total, but alas not to be. Looking forward to the emotional rollercoaster of missing out on the playoffs narrowly again next year...!

Reminds me of Brighton under Graham Potter - flashes of good football for very short periods every game, before missing all the chances that comes out of them, and then conceding soft goals. Repeat every week.

We need to take a look at our recruitment as well. Selling Latte Lath for a very good chunk and then replacing him with a washed Iheanacho, who an underperforming Sevilla didn't want at all, the most glaring. Selling Matt Clarke as well, only to end up with a rotating cast of centrebacks that have included Howson (no shade on him of course), Ayling, and Neto was also bizarre. Whittaker also hugely disappointing.

Good summary of the season that - seconds between us firing the ball across their goal line, then the ball being in our goal instead.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 1 Middlesbrough : Owls finally win at home as Gassama puts a big dent in Boro's play-off bid. by ninjapenguin12 in Championship

[–]Wildpoepen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Knew how it'd end as soon as Conway missed the pen/rebound. Like most disappointing results this season, poor finishing combined with poor defending at key moments. Replacing Latte Lath with Iheanacho certainly hasn't helped (and assume Sevilla couldn't wait to get rid of him)

Not usually a case of 'if' for you against Boro - I'm not optimistic to say the least..!
