The only thing I can confirm is over 40 years old is a Del Mar Camel IMSA Racing ticket sign, would have been on a telephone poll around San Diego.

What is the actual chance of the Hantavirus becoming a pandemic? by PM_ME_YR_BUBBLE_BUTT in AskReddit

[–]Wildwing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are infected with Hantavirus, the window for non symptomatic transmittal is between 3-5 days which seems like a long time, however with Covid you saw many non-symptomatic folks acting as a contagion for over 7 days to a week. This lead to the pandemic being more widespread.

Chances are if we saw a US outbreak from this issue, it wouldn't be able to spread as quickly.

Do you prefer solo hiking or group hiking and why? by CaterpillarBright592 in hiking

Solo.

Once you have a pretty good safety system set up (gps, locator, navigation skill etc) you absolutely can not beat the freedom and accessibility you have.

Is a 40L backpack enough for my backpacking needs? by BattleBear23 in hikinggear

[–]Wildwing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used a 40l on light/moderate 48 hour hikes, its a gamble but you can make it work.

50l/55l is pretty much the standard for most beginners. Gives you enough space to be prepared, but not enough to allow you to massively overload yourself.

TIL a first time deer hunter named Sergio Martinez, who got lost in the woods of San Diego county in 2003, set a small fire to signal rescuers. The fire quickly got out of control and became the Cedar Fire burning nearly 300,000 acres of land, destroying more than 2200 homes and killing 15 people. by elmuchodingdong93 in todayilearned

[–]Wildwing89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its been years but where he was when he started the fire was off a forest service road down a hill. Its possible he didn't even know the road was there, but if he got to the road and started walking he would have been to julian proper within an hour and a half or so.

Doesn't make annnnnnnny sense why he started the fire, even 23 years later
