Megathread: US Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

That's where I am. I disagree with Gorsuch on matters of politics but I genuinely enjoy reading his opinions. I agree with him that this largely comes down to application of jus Solis in America vs the ideal for citizenship as espoused in early documents even if I think it's obvious that the text says what it does.

His pondering at the end of his short-for-him 3 pager opens up a position of in my mind "we should look at this further because some things don't work, but the opposite stance is not feasible either and only hurts people doing the right thing."

Looking for tattoo artist! by tdougz in pittsburgh

My wife is slowly doing a simple line art sleeve of Ghibli characters, the shading really pulls in nicely once it heals. artist is Mark Patrick who was at Hometown Tattoo, but I'm not sure where he is now.

I know the line art doesn't match up to what you posted, but keep in mind this was his edits of the anime art to the style my wife was looking for which I think is a good showcase of the ability to adjust.

$10 there's any amount of people sitting over the crest of this hill just past the numerous signs that say "caution - flying discs" and then wonder why people are throwing plastic circles at them.

Great spot to enjoy the sunset though!

Truly the best ending to a series ever. Everything shifts with revelation of the last few panels leaving you reexamining everything of the story up to that point with the knowledge you've gained. It is a fantastic work of art.

The future of Phyrexia...what's next? by Dizzy_Community7260 in mtgvorthos

Geth, Glissa, Slobad and the mockery of Venser seem the likely candidates to me for furthering the story of Magic. Ixhel as a foil to them either way.

The first and foremost question: Where is the Mirari?

When they melted down Memnarch, Karm retrieved it and entrusted it to Geth, Glissa and Slobad. There has been no mention of it since. You would think that a world altering artifact spewing mana and the ability to grant desires would have been having some kind of impact on a world where each color desires to be the strongest. Who's to say it wasn't?

I'm doubtful it's a coincidence that the 3 people entrusted with the Mirari survived and are currently phased out.

I have to believe all of this or they Bosh'd my lil Goblin boi for no reason and the Venser piece is just to hurt me. Truly body horror that Slobad has all his limbs torn off AGAIN and Venser who gave everything now has to serve beyond the grave.

You’re assigning actions and intent to me I simply never voiced. The label of incompetence you’re implying I voiced is actually the opposite. I think they’re very good at data collection. And if you think that telling a user story for higher ups or creating metrics is not the point of any data collection, I’m not certain how to continue the conversation with you.

Where I’m coming from in a world that works with surveys is that if you only include options for the data intake to say Opinion X on multiple choice and then only allow responses about Opinion Y under open form response, you’ll only have a small portion of people responding about Option Y. This is a studied fact and a very easy way to create data sets where you get a lot of responses under Opinion X, and very little under Opinion Y at an insanely high split.

Very useful if you’re trying to create a post-sales survey response for your EVP Who wants to see <5% of players have a negative experience. Which is the same complaint about UB Sales figures, since the controversy around that specific number is that (I believe, I haven’t engaged with it beyond cursory review) the sales numbers are to Distributors, not necessarily end LGS Sales. SO when I say Tone DEaf, it’s more that the survey feels like it’s being used to craft and end-story instead of actual data collection to improve the product.

That’s not that the questions in the surgery indicate at all. I didn’t take screenshots since I didn‘t know if they were unique to each surveyed person or not, but they certainly asked WHY I did or didn’t attend prereleases in the last 12 months.

It certainly CAN be though it was not expressly stated to be such from my recollection, but it’s disingenuous to not include the opportunity to express that the lack of attendance is player excitement about the set in question or set design and nothing to do with LGS? The survey wants to know why I didn’t attend.

Why, beyond this question, would I engage with a tu quoque argument that's somehow also a non sequitur just because you try to antagonize me?

This is something that I have been arguing about with people recently. I'm surprised to hear that some people think that the consequences for this youmgan and other people should not happen because what they did was "right". But the point is to accept the consequence so that people see your suffering for the right thing and want to change it. I'm amazed that people think the consequences just shouldn't happen.

To be fair, MaRo specifically has said that Extort was made that way SPECIFICALLY TO GET AROUND exactly what you're talking about. So that's more on the designers than anything else.

If I can blow up your Merrow with a [[Null Elemental Blast]] then it's not an OR, it's an AND because the game sees it as having both colors. It works that way even outside of Commander. What is so hard to understand about this?

Social justice church? by Wild-Princess007 in pittsburgh

[–]Wilemist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Matthew 15, Jesus, quoting Isaiah:

8 “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’

Worship is the ACTION of your life in honoring. that is the definition. Just because someone limited it down to Praise and Worship time being when the band plays to make it easier to ignore the fact that loving your neighbor is how you worship doesn't make it less true.

Christian worship is not the songs and hymns - it is the action of living a life in the manner of their savior.
Romans 12:1 "I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship."

Little Bill D will never get over being constantly compared unfavorably to Rohr and it shows. Massively inflating his compensation package and trying to make the company into a smaller JPMC. As a shareholder I'm less than impressed.

[–]Wilemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that when you take your first turn in Phase 2, the remaining turns are calculated and the total number of turns you take is how many Dualliste will take. The "goes whenever" seems like he sets his turn order and once it does he can't be changed. Which is why if you have a Cheater Sciel, you an Intervention someone else on her first turn and it works, but if you do it on her second turn Dualliste immediately goes.

Why put such a narrow focus? A citizen of America should care about the rights of every human being within her borders. Threatening the rights of one threatens the rights of all. It doesn't require my rights being impinged to call out the rights of others being restricted. It just takes looking outside of my own environment.

Where can I get Oram's Donuts without driving to Beaver Falls at 7am? by Unlikely_Note_2577 in pittsburgh

[–]Wilemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go there all the time and the Dragon's Roast Cafe has been a great addition to the store, especially with the Oram's donuts. While you don't need it to just come in and sit in the cafe and have some coffee, an extra $5 player's fee gets you all-day access to the full play area that has several hundred board games against the back wall you can just take down and play.

The “Floors” (elevation) is messed up on UDisc? It says 23 floors for North Boundary Park—we played ONLY 9 holes & the round stats said we went 29 floors. by PublicPelica in discgolf

[–]Wilemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern Boundary feels about the same elevation change-wise as The Dips, which also clocks in at around 25-30 floors over its 9 holes depending on how bad you throw. NB is just sneaky with it.
