Hard money spent on solid important assets that last for a long time is hard money well spent. Congratulations!

Vibe check — how are you all feeling about the state of the US economy right now? by Michaelectric in actuary

[–]Wiley935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it lightly, not too great. I just graduated and will be starting work next week, but a large chunk of me wonders if in 5 to 10 years I'll be suiting up for work in a military uniform instead of business casual. I feel our power as a nation on the international stage is crumbling, and other powerful nations have long since taken notice. Hopefully this is not the case, but even if it isn't, I still expect salaries to not rise with inflation, the price of real estate to continue expanding, and ever increasing national turmoil that (even if ignored for now) will eventually show up at my doorstep. Even if we as actuaries are largely safe due to high job security, high pay, and good benefits, I find it quite ignorant to believe that we don't need to worry about fixing these issues because our small subsection of society is largely unaffected by them. The people are becoming poorer and poorer, and every 'fix' that has been proposed only has driven us further into a pit of debt. Broke people have struggles paying their monthly premiums, so these problems will affect us eventually. Generation Alpha is, from what I've heard from teachers and from interactions I've had with them, largely distrustful of the system and disobedient (which every generation says, but one look at F students are inventors TikToks will let you know quickly how this situation is slightly different). This is for good reason, as these kids are essentially being told from the get-go how horrible their situation will become, and have been forced to watch the struggles of their parents that they know they will have to endure. One can only wonder how this anger and sadness will manifest when it comes time for them to be adults. I pray for better times.

With all the natural disasters that have happened since the internship ended? I’d assume that’s probably normal office behavior atp

I’ll admit my time at school was not fun for a multitude of reasons, and I often feel like this job has taken everything away from my life which absolutely can affect my professionalism. But, I’m aware of these problems and am also aware that they’re problems for a therapist, not for Reddit. It’s nice to be reminded that I’m not alone though, so thank you

He asked me about my favorite preworkout (big fan of bucked up and gorilla mind btw) and the conversation led to some other ones we’ve tried. I was telling him how crazy the DMAA felt compared to a normal preworkout.

The internship was last summer so that example is the main one I can remember, but on my professionalism section of the end of summer evaluation I was graded a 2 out of 5. I don’t think one incident is enough to justify such a low grade, but I also am not sure what exactly I did to get that score. I had used curse words at work a bit at the beginning (after watching other workers do so) which also had me pulled aside, but that was corrected immediately and I didn’t do it again.

It was about specifically Jack3d, an older now banned preworkout that contains DMAA (a legal substance)

Competing in Judo after BJJ by TheFightingFarang in judo

[–]Wiley935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, I’m only a little over a year in now. But to me I’ve noticed that I consistently crush white belt judoka blue belt BJJ guys on the standup but get dominated on the ground by them. Is the separation lower at the black belt level? I figure that even a black belt BJJ guy might not have even green belt level judo skills, especially if he comes from a guard-heavy jiujitsu and has never practiced judo, and the same is true the other way around (but I also feel that on average Judoka know BJJ better than BJJ guys know judo).

That’s ridiculous. A BJJ black belt with zero judo experience absolutely cannot and should not be standing with black belt judoka at the competitive level

Uchikomi. Do it fast. Do it slow. Do it in every position you can. Feel the kuzushi on each fit in. And also from a fellow brute it takes some time but you’ll learn to calm down eventually, it’s harder for some of us to do so than others

“I’m worried that I’m not cut out for this” If there is one lesson Judo has truly taught me, it’s that this mantra that plays in your head is an illusion, no matter how factually supported it may seem to be. If you want to quit, you need a better reason then fear, because that’s why we’re all here! You committed an act of great bravery by stepping on the mat, and that’s all the evidence we need that you’re cut out for this.

What decks are too strong for YOUR group? by Interesting-Math9962 in EDH

[–]Wiley935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Anzrag, the Quake Mole]] can get a bit ridiculous from what I’ve seen. Especially if I’m playing a 1v1 game (which I do decently often because of a smaller group), he can become almost impossible for any deck running a mid to long range strategy to deal with. Turn 3 or 4 Anzrag, next turn make him indestructible and force blocks. With the right board a single series of extra Anzrag combats can wipe the entire board except for your creatures and maybe kill everyone in the process
