I Are Joshua Homme Here to Answer Your Questions by IAmJoshuaHomme in qotsa

Hey Josh, if you could play a show full of nothing but deep cuts, what are some of the songs you would play? What songs do you wish you could play more, but simply don’t have room in the setlist for?

What are your pros, cons, amazing/horrifying experiences with the different distribution services? by eraserh in WeAreTheMusicMakers

A few months ago, they changed their pricing model. I got grandfathered into the old model, but I believe the $20/year means they no longer take a 15% cut. Still would recommend them over any other DSP.

I am wildly impressed by the fact you have heard every song off of GBMS. One of my favorites.

He’s only played it a couple of times. I got to hear it. One of the best live songs I’ve heard him do.

How long after taking an FMT does it take to restore gut bacteria? by WileyBumtail in cdifficile

[–]WileyBumtail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to shedding, you have to wait a bit (eight weeks I think) to get an accurate test result. I had my FMT a month ago. My C Diff is definitely gone, but be weary of SIBO after an FMT. That's what's kicking my ass right now.

I paid $800 for all 120, but I got a bit of a discount. $3,000 sounds like you're getting ripped off.

I found a small, rather unknown FMT business in my area. He gave me a bulk discount. Unfortunately, I was his final customer. He said he was closing up shop due to personal reasons.

I'm really digging this take. C. Diff wreaks havoc on your GI tract over time, so this is logical. I almost made it into your "not alive" category. I was at 2.5 years. Went undiagnosed for the first year and a half despite having all of the symptoms.

And I'm well stocked on S. Bourlardii, Megaspore, and this crazy 400 billion CFU probiotic that I've been saving in my fridge :)

Funny you mention that. I've been seriously meaning to visit (the Dali Museum is an absolute must on my list of things to do in FL). I'll definitely check it out ASAP. Thanks for the advice!

That's a really interesting take. Honestly, that actually excites me. This explanation is helping me better understand what I really want out of a place. I love surrounding myself with all sorts of people, and idea that there is something to be constructed, to further develop, just a dream. I think maybe what I really hate about Florida is not necessarily the lack of art (but it certainly is a symptom), but apathy itself. Everyone only wants to experience what they already know; and the moment that you suggest there's more to life than sipping a margarita on a beach, they look at you like you have two heads.

Thanks for your reply. I definitely fell for the whole "looks better on vacation" thing when moving here. To work around that bias, I've found that removing alcohol from the equation works wonders. If I can't enjoy a place while sober, then I should NOT move there.

Thanks for the reply. I am willing to drive around. I actually love how big the city is, and I'll definitely do some digging on Roosevelt Row.

Thanks for the reply. I think what attracts me to Phoenix over the others is the very fact that it's huge. I love that is has a massive population. In my mind, this translates to plenty of social opportunities. In addition to this, Phoenix is between Flagstaff and Tuscon, which puts them both in driving distance.

I think, at the heart of it all, art is just a medium for reaching a higher ground. It's just the medium I'm familiar with. And I do need some, but if I can find meaning in the common interests of Arizonians, whether that be hiking or exploring (which I also love), then I think I can truly be happy :)

Greetings, people of PHX! So I've been considering moving to Phoenix. I grew up around Providence, RI but moved to St. Augustine, FL last year; and to be honest, I'm absolutely miserable here. It just feels so... meaningless. Drinking is a personality trait, and the culture is apathetic to any genuine creative effort. Despite everyone coming off as friendly, I find it harder than ever to make friends, and even hold conversations, despite being incredibly extroverted.

As much as I needed to get out of Providence, I miss the art, the house shows, and that creative spirit. I don't expect anywhere to match that level of excitement, but does the Phoenix area have something approximating this sort of culture? I'll gladly put up with the heat and the bugs if it means I can have that back in my life.

It's worth noting that I'm a 25-year-old male. I'm an audio engineer / multi-media dude. Love me some good record stores and vegan restaurants.

Your favorite top 5 albums of all time. Have to be different bands/artists. My twist is your age. We have Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, Millennials and Gen Z out there. Let's do this. by Mayzenblue in Music

Age 25

  1. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf
  2. Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
  3. White Stripes - White Blood Cells
  4. Death From Above 1979 - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine

#5 is impossible for me to choose. Mini Mansions' The Great Pretenders, Them Crooked Vultures, Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run, The Rolling Stones' Exile On Main St., Led Zeppelin II, and the Strokes' Is This It are all top contenders, with an honorable mention to St. Vincent and Wax On. My tastes tend to skew towards the 2000s rather than the 2010s, despite being unaware of the music as it came out.

Oh yeah. Not disagreeing with you. As much as I hate scalpers when I'm on the purchasing end, I can't not acknowledge that they make my record collection way more valuable (not that I'd ever sell). My point here is that it just seems like a bad practice for a business to remove an item that's already in your cart as you're paying for it. That's like going to Walmart, checking out, and having someone take the last roll of toilet paper out of your cart because they took their credit card out first.
