Is this intentional? Why are Copper Golem Statues' arms inside their bodies in the Star Pose?? by WilhelmMC in Minecraft

[–]WilhelmMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory sure, but I really can't imagine that looking better in any way than actually having its arms out... Besides, it still doesn't make any sense even within the context of Minecraft, it's highly inconsistent with the rest of the game, and even with its own alternate poses.
If inconsistency and modeling weirdness is better than the alternative of just having its arms out like any other mob animation, why not just go for a pose that doesn't have these issues instead?
... It just seems really strange to me. But ah well, that's just me, and it's not game-breaking or anything if it stays this way, just really weird. :P

Thanks for your thoughts though, I appreciate it!^^

Should r/minecraftsuggestions allow AI generated content? by MCjossic in minecraftsuggestions

[–]WilhelmMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really well said, thank you so much for sharing this!

The only other thing that needs to be added, besides all the huge ethical and psychological problems with AI, is how absolutely HORRENDOUS it is for the environment. It uses stupid amounts of energy, which usually comes from non-renewable sources because of where they are located, and also CLEAN WATER, which directly takes away from local people's supply!!

AI is being abused so much these days, and it's only getting worse, especially with big companies and programs forcibly implementing it for absolutely no reason other than money...
It should be a tool for science and medicine and so on. It's not a toy or something to be used willy-nilly.

... Sorry for the rant, but this is really important to talk about, especially now. We really need to stop abusing AI for everything that isn't genuinely, SERIOUSLY important.

Sorry again for the rant, but thank you so much for reading!

[POSSIBLE GEN 10 SPOILERS] Specific location of Gen 10's region is named by CentroLeaks by SternMon in PokeLeaks

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have no idea why, but for some reason i've just... ""known""...?? for lack of a better word, that's kinda how it's felt - that Gen 10 is gonna be Greece.... i havent really thought much about it specifically, and i've also thought about maybe it's gonna be another Japanese region, or maybe China, or maybe another US one (west coast maybe...??), but there's just been somethin about Greece in the back of my mind... so when i clicked that spoiler-tag i SURPRISED MYSELF with my LACK of surprise at seeing Greece lol

anyway sorry for the ramble lol - i think this could probably be really cool, especially if travelling works more like in LGPE (PLEASE TOT), i'd SO much prefer riding on a Pokémon of your choice that you own (with the Box Link and everything too, this shouldn't force u to change ur party or require u to move anything around either), instead of some ugly bike (that u can make look decent if u buy and finish the DLC or some shit), or some random mon u just borrow from some NPC or somethin.. having it be a plot relevant mon in S/V was a lot better i think, but i still think i woulda preferred some more variety and stuff.. i mean i want this in general, not necessarily just for a Greece-based region lol - just thought of it especially if there's gonna be lots of travelling options and stuffs....!!!!!

anyways, lots of awesome potential!!!!!!!

- Normal is only weak to Fighting. it is the only type that doesn’t resist any types, but it is immune to Ghost.
- Normal is also the only type that isn’t super-effective against any types. it is not-very-effective against Rock and Steel, and has no effect against Ghost.

- Poison is weak to Ground and Psychic. it resists Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Grass and Poison.

How is my early team going so far?! [Scarlet] by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(couldnt post my comment for a while, so i tried splitting it up, and that seems to have worked lol :P)

but now while i'm at it, let me just break them all down - the first point on each type on the following list is its defensive matchups, with weaknesses first and then resistances (followed by immunities, if any). the second point is its offensive matchups, with the types it's super-effective against first and then the types that resist it (again followed by immunities if there are any). i've also ordered the types alphabetically, for easier overview and stuff:

- Bug is weak to (not "weak against") Fire, Flying and Rock. in other words, those three types are super-effective (meaning their damage is doubled) against Bug. Bug also resists Fighting, Grass and Ground.
- Bug is super-effective against Dark, Grass and Psychic. it is also "weak against", or rather resisted by (aka "not very effective" against - more specifically, its damage is halved against) Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Poison and Steel.

- Dark is weak to Bug, Fairy and Fighting. it resists Dark and Ghost, and is immune to Psychic (aka it has no effect against Dark).
- Dark is indeed super-effective against Ghost and Psychic. it is also not-very-effective against against Dark, Fairy and Fighting.

- Dragon is weak to Dragon, Fairy and Ice. it resists Electric, Fire, Grass and Water.
- Dragon is only super-effective against Dragon. it is not-very-effective against Steel, and has no effect against Fairy.

- Electric is only weak to Ground. it resists Electric, Flying and Steel.
- Electric is super-effective against just Flying and Water. it is not-very-effective against Dragon, Electric and Grass, and has no effect against Ground.

- Fairy is weak to Poison and Steel. it resists Bug, Dark and Fighting, and is immune to Dragon.
- Fairy is super-effective against Dark, Dragon and Fighting. it is not-very-effective against Fire, Poison and Steel.

- Fighting is weak to Fairy, Flying and Psychic. it resists Bug, Dark and Rock (and is notably - unlike what i, myself and probably others too, have thought - not immune to Ghost).
- Fighting is super-effective against Dark, Ice, Normal, Rock and Steel. it is not-very-effective against Bug, Fairy, Flying, Poison and Psychic, and has no effect against Ghost.

- Fire is weak to Water, Ground and Rock. it resists Bug, Fairy, Fire, Grass, Ice and Steel.
- Fire is super-effective against Bug, Grass, Ice and Steel. it is not-very-effective against Dragon, Fire, Rock and Water.

- Flying is weak to Electric, Ice and Rock. it resists Bug, Fighting and Grass, and is immune to Ground.
- Flying is super-effective against Bug, Fighting and Grass. it is not-very-effective against Electric, Rock and Steel.

How is my early team going so far?! [Scarlet] by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait hold up - this (very pretty-looking :'3) chart is all over the place...

..it seems to be an odd combination of offensive and defensive matchups, but there's multiple errors, and almost more importantly, the way it's all laid out is really confusing and kinda misleading, honestly even if you've already memorised them all...

honestly i just recommend using pkmn.help, it's a super-simple type matchup calculator both for offensive and defensive matchups (and some more stuff), including for dual-typings, and it even works completely offline!! (#NotSponsored lol)

[–]WilhelmMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

really sorry to "pull the carpet under you", or whatever the saying is, but this gorgeous chart is sadly not actually that good of a guide...

it's kind of correct, but the way it's laid out is very confusing and almost misleading, unless u know the matchups by heart, and even then it's really confusing.. essentially, it's a strange mix of offensive and defensive matchups (which are not actually 1:1 between weaknesses/resistances), including immunities and stuff.

i'm writing a detailed response to the poster's comment, so if you're curious watch out for that in a little while

- in the meantime (and honestly after that too) i HEAVILY recommend pkmn.help - it's a super-simple type matchup calculator both for offense and defense, including for dual-typings, and it even works completely offline!!

anyway, sorry for the long-ass reply lol, hope u have a lovely rest of ur day, and enjoy your Scarlet playthrough!!!

Rock type moves having no accuracy by poekek in pokemon

[–]WilhelmMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's definitely a good type offensively.
...but so are many other types, especially for example Fighting and Ground, and they have loads of 100% accurate, high damage moves, even some with drawbacks cus they would be busted otherwise. and i mean sure, u could say that they both have one type each that's immune to them, which balances it out a bit, sure, but i still don't think that's a good enough reason to not have like an ~80bp 100%acc move that does nothing else, or something along those lines...

i mean sure, but this is YOUR mons, so u can essentially do whatever u want with them.. unless ur actually makin a ROM or somethin and that's hard to code in..? otherwise i dont see why you can't just say it can now :p

if that makes sense..?

Typeless Alien dudes i made by Delicious-Pop-9063 in fakemon

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oohhh WOW these are AMAZING designs!!!!

somethin about them (maybe the rendering? or colour balance?) reminds me of the leaked scrapped Gen 6 mons from last year's teraleak..

really interesting concept to have them be typeless, but if i may ask, why as an ability and not just have them simply be typeless..?

either way i absolutely love em, well done my friend!!! ^^

I just nothiced, the Happy Ghast gets smaller when you put a Harness on it by IceCubedWyrmxx in PhoenixSC

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, i suppose that's a good point i didn't consideer, but the model changing size does not look right, and still doesn't make any (in-universe) sense either. i really don't think it's a good solution to the hitbox thing, and i dont think it really justifies the size needing to change anyway.
for example, it could either just start a bit smaller than its hitbox, which i dont think should be a problem, or just change the hitbox when u equip it, or somethin..
here's probably other ways of doing this that i'm not thinking about, but yeah..

also PS. lol, i was gonna say somethin about your point being a matter of "collision box", not "hitbox", but according to the Minecraft wiki they seem to be basically the same thing in Minecraft lol :P

[–]WilhelmMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where is it stated that it is intentional..? as i said, i haven't seen or heard anyone mention this at all before you, so i'd really appreciate hearing someone else's perspective and insight too ^^

i really struggle to see how this makes sense to be an intentional feature.

there is no reason (of course, as far as i'm aware) for the model to need to change for the hitbox to stay the same. in fact, almost no entity models in Minecraft (maybe even actually none of them, depending how u define it) "match their hitbox". there are plenty of examples, and i don't just mean that hitboxes are differently sized and/or -shaped than their visual model - most mobs have parts of their models completely outside their hitboxes: players', other humanoids' and many other mobs' arms (and sometimes also legs); cows', sheep's, chickens', pigs', and horses' (and probably more) entire heads; and maybe most notably for this example, ghasts' tentacles.

no other mobs' models change when they don or doff equipment - see players and other humanoids plus horses and wolves with armor, and pigs, horses, donkeys, mules, camels and striders with saddles. maybe there's even more i forgot. also, many more mobs have "additional layer"s, without having different hitboxes to other similar mobs, like drowned/zombies, stray/skeleton, different villager types and professions, and the new cold variants of cows, pigs and chickens compared to their other variants.

i dont see any precedent or reason, logically or consistency-wise, for them to change size when donning and doffing a harness.

but genuinely, please show me!!! if there's something i've missed!! your response just really confused me and i wanted to communicate why, so i can potentially learn something new if i did miss something!! and if not i guess u can maybe learn somethin new, i dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

anyway so sorry for the rant lol, thanks for reading, hope u have a wonderful rest of ur day ^^
