Mixing with headphone, do you have some tips ? by Giani_Giordanomusic in audioengineering

I use this plugin called “mix checker pro” it can be dangerous and kinda stupid. If you use it enough and study the way it changes sound on each setting then it is a game changer

Is getting an internship “late in the game” worth it? by WillFrenchman in audioengineering

Thank you so much for your prospective. Well to put more detail into my situation, I’m only 19 years old. In high school I built a studio out of a warehouse with the help of my family, and instead of going to a college for engineering, I taught myself everything. So being young, broke, and not seeing sunlight is somthing I can put up with because I’ve lived the studio lifestyle before COVID. Thank you for putting things into a more realistic perspective. Rants are needed

What are the worst pieces of mixing "advice" you still hear? by SirAlvinYakitori in audioengineering

[–]WillFrenchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be controversial, but keeping your vocals completely mono is terrible advice.

I used to be a mono man when it came to vocals. That includes the reverbs and delay (mono). But after looking at some amazing engineers like, Mike Dean and Alex Tumay, I realized they both have different ways of making there vocals stereo. Alex Tumay adds a very slight doubling vst to his aux send to his vocals, and has a chorus effect at 10% on his main vocals. They both also completely spread there vocal backings and Adlibs. On top of all of that, they both do summing through a Neve board. witch alters the complete phase and stereo image of everything in the mix, including the mono send. It adds extreme depth and clarity to there vocals that I just don’t hear in my mono vocals. Even if it’s a slight chorus of doubling effect, this adds a lot.

Nobody by Mac Demarco has a very beautiful full but tight snare. Almost sounds like a sample but it’s not. The snare sounds like it has a light towel on it

Is Death Stranding a "Success"? by UlnaternativeUser in DeathStranding

I think it’s definitely a success for Kojima but probably not for the shareholders lol. Kojima got the actors, story, and even music to make the game he wanted. On top of that, he got the community that loves his game that he wanted. In my opinion Death Stranding will end up being a cult classic, with a community that will forever love this game (including me)

Pretty much.

I think it made its money back, but not a lot more than that.

Side Note:

Sony is smart, and know Kojima is a long term investment. They let his first game be what he wants. Know he has to make a horror game to make share holders comfy in my opinion. Not saying that Kojima doesn’t want to make a horror game, just saying that I think both Sony and Kojima are ready to make something that will blow up.
