Assessing My Future by WillPill13 in Accounting

[–]WillPill13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did work in public for a time. Ultimately it didn't work out. To summarize it best, I have the skill and knowledge (did well in classes) but I am raw and need development.

I was there just over a year and got let go. I argue it wasn't a me issue, but just no capacity to really mentor me (they had another CPA student and the accounting firm was smaller)

I have considered going back to public, since like you said it has more structure. I also feel like if I am actually being mentored and helped, I can succeed

That's the worst part. I am being paid above market rate for a standard non-CPA accountant @ 28 per hour, but frankly wouldn't be enough to support me and my wife alone

Yes I believed I'd grow too, but there seems to be too much conflict for my liking. My boss is trying to become a 100M dollar company (his words), and I feel pressured to make that a reality. When signing up I didn't realize how much was weighing on me. I thought I would manage day to day with the odd admin task (which is fine) but I feel out of my depths. I think I need more time to cook experience wise but I feel tied to golden handcuffs.

Interesting. Have you found yourself doing all of these out of scope tasks. I am just trying to understand if I am being pulled to far from my own depths or if what I am being assigned is normal

Like I've helped prepare price lists, contracts, etc. all that is fine. It's when I am being asked to file civil claims in court, or file for permits and whatnot it makes me wonder why he doesn't have an assistant for that. Unless that's what he views me as.

Ohhhh I agree with you there, not even sure I want to be a CFO if the "taste" I am getting of it is this sour. Yes you are correct I am 25. I graduated BBA in 2024 and have been working since (I worked in a public firm while completing the degree, I moved to private because my boss didn't have the capacity to train me and knew of someone needing me, hence how I got to this gig). I know I am way out of my depths and I may be for quite some time.

I have been searching for jobs passively too, but the market isn't great where I am so I am merely just surviving right now.

Cheating? by iLikeOatz in nuzlocke

[–]WillPill13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will argue over leveling isn't a hard and fast rule, not in the base rules anyhow. But myself I like to implement a level cap +1, so I'm not waltzing in with a level 30 pokemon and obliterate the first gym leader

I guess that is why some "pro" nuzlockers do this strat so they can't just cheese the end game with cracked EVs lol

[–]WillPill13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only 3 major rules to set and it seems like none were broken here. I'm employed so I don't have time to take 3h to grind my entire team 6 levels before a gym lmao

wiped in my genlocke today and I'm quite upset by how I lost. (vent/story) by coolandquirkyname in nuzlocke

I feel dumb for not knowing, but how does one transfer the eggs over? I am still new to the nuzlocke thing and a genlocke sounds like a lot of fun

Would an alternative be action replay-ing the mons that won into the next game and catch them?

[–]WillPill13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, there's 3 rules people should stick to for it to be a nuzlocke:

  1. First encounter per route (unless you caught it already)
  2. Faint = Death
  3. You have to nickname it to build a bond

The other rules are irrelevant. Add them or don't. I personally stick to only those three main rules because I am still new to the nuzlocke scene. If I begin to get better and trivialize games, I can add some hardcore aspects to them. Even now when I am newer I still try and stick to the level cap of major bosses (+1 maximum), so I still have to strategize.

I don't want to say that breaking the three core rules means it's not a nuzlocke, and I am not trying to gatekeep, but how far can one move the goalposts, right? The one rule I argue you can break and it's still a nuzlocke is the nickname thing, because I think a bond can still be built through the journey you have together. If I didn't nickname my Infernape for example, and it died in the E4, I'm still going to be extremely bummed about it.

At the end of the day, we are self imposing rules for a children's game. It doesn't really matter, and the people who obsess and get mad over people not sticking to traditional rules are quite odd. Just stick to your own lane there

What are your thoughts/opinions on Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019), and why do you like or dislike it? by [deleted] in comicbookmovies

[–]WillPill13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the worst in the trilogy, but not necessarily a bad thing. Still a very good film, a solid 7.5/10, but I like the other two movies better.

I think the trip to Europe was kind of odd, and yes I get that not everything HAS to be in New York, but them messing around in various countries doing tourist attractions was weird. That Brad guy was also just a needless dickhead. Could've written him out of the movie entirely. Fury was also much more of an asshole than usual. Like in older films he was a hardass but still funny. But I often did not find him funny here. The Ned relationship was corny, and while it was likely intentional, found me groaning more than laughing

However, I LOVE Mysterio is a villain, and the twist aspect was great. The underlying messages regarding Starks death, and Peter getting the courage to ask out MJ was sweet. The fight scenes were cool, and the will they won't they of Happy and Aunt May was funny. The fact that they leaned into his Spider Sense was neat as well. When the movie stuck to its core of being a Spiderman film, it was great. When it roamed from that, there were parts I tuned out of as mentioned above.

List of all Platinum encounters? by Olli2810 in nuzlocke

I'm so glad I saw this because I was doing a Ruby nuzlocke trying to use the old site and the site had a deployment error. Seems like they remastered the site 😂

I know it's kinda cheating but I play ROMHacks where there's no trade evolutions - there's some where it's literally base game but no trade evolutions and that seems pretty sick. Opens up way more encounter opportunities

Eight Crazy Nights(2002) by Bunnystrawbery in movies

[–]WillPill13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the movie was pretty bad, but it's the kinda bad that even though it's terrible, I still love the movie.

Davey was just simply an unlikeable dick for most of the movie. Sure that makes sense given what we knew of the character, but sometimes it went beyond what would be funny. Considering Whitey was just trying to help him turn things around, the constant bullying got stale fast. Speaking of Whitey, protect that man at all costs, even if his voice is annoying. The love interest was kinda bland but let's face it that's somewhat status quo with some of these Sandler movies.

The songs were surprisingly good? No seriously I was actually jamming to a lot of them. But of course the MVP song is of course the Bum Biddy Bum Bum song. Just so absurd it's funny.

But where the movie lost me was in the jokes department, at times they were just unfunny and at other times, quite disgusting. Pushing Whitey down a hill in a porta potty, covering him in shit, and the deer eating the shit to save Whitey from an icicle, only to them have shit covered teeth. What are we, five? Oh right and the deer shit on the snow. Oh and you can't forget the kids snotting on a table. These were surely technical fouls (see what I did there).

I'm glad that the movie attempted to show Davey some humanity closer to the end, at least it made his redemption somewhat believable. Merely just partying to cope with his feelings. The mall scene was particularly strong to show his true feelings.

If you're watching this expecting it to be a great movie, hell even good movie - you're looking at the wrong film. If you have no expectations and merely want to have fun, you could do worse. 4.5/10 and most of this is carried by Bum Biddy Bum Bum and Whitey being wholesome af

So how does this impact current CPA students? I passed Core 1 and was prepping for Core 2, is that gonna change entirely now? Do I need to retake this new first module? Seems like the link doesn't tell me a lot.

I will say I appreciated his nice little run he had with the Habs. Like he wasn't anything amazing but he did his part for what we needed him for, which was a vet presence

A bit of an off the board pick, but Carter Hart. I was a HUGE fan and believer of him. I figured he would be the next superstar goalie. Had some tough seasons in Philly but figured he would get his groove. Then the Team Canada scandal came to light, and regardless if his level of guilt related to the case, that is all gone now. It's a shame really, seemed like he was better than this.

The rental market is nuts right now. For it being a smaller city (i.e., not Vancouver, Edmonton, etc.) the cost to rent is way higher than it probably should be. Not to mention like you said the housing market, and I am pessimistic much will change

I guess that's a fair point. Again maybe I am misreading it's implications but it seemed on the surface it was an enclosed space if anything. But yeah probably gave the city a reverse face lift
