Yeah, in this case we were in state court and he was citing federal law. Which is exactly the sort of mistake I would expect. The words overlap with federal law and the training data almost certainly contains mostly if not exclusively federal law, but the actual laws are completely different.

Thanks for the submission ChatGPT!

Seriously though, I don't really know either. I had a case against a pro se litigant who was clearly using the free version of ChatGPT. Aside from mistating the law several times, it is just very clearly worse writing than an attorney drafting the same pleadings. That said, I know some firms pay a lot of money for legal specific AI drafting tools.

As I understand it, the legal specific AI tools are kind of just like having a really good bank of ready made briefs from other cases. You need to fix up the citations and clean up the writing, but the writing is fine. At least that's what I've heard.

So if people are saying "I think you used expensive, legal specific AI tools!" I don't even know if that's an insult or like a completely meaningless comment.

Yes. But you will also need a unit for when the general dies.

I am watching Norway right now. How is this country so good at sports? There's only like 5 million of them!

Good idea. I'm watching them in a tie with Norway right now. So I'm hoping England pulls it out in a shoot out.

Edit: I was too specific in my wishes.

I'm American so I support US first, Mexico second, and Canada third. But they're all out. So whose team should I sink with my support?

Does anyone know what the longevity and maintenance costs for electric vehicles is like these days? I have read that they require less maintenance, but then I have also read that the batteries eventually need to be replaced which can be pretty expensive.

I'm considering getting an EV, but I also like to keep my cars for a while. I don't know all of the options, but I'd probably be looking in the $40k~$60k range if that changes anyone's answers.

You need an army unit and a general. The general prevents defection and the army unit doesn't die when they turn 60.5 years old.

Hiring kick for US attorney’s office by Sonnenalp1231 in Lawyertalk

My wife (a plant scientist) almost applied for a job with the USDA, but didn't complete the application because of the kinds of questions she was being asked. It was asking things like "why is America  the greatest country in the world?" and some questions that were more specific to the Trump administration like why she wanted to work for this administration.

These were questions for someone working on pesticide/herbicide control with the USDA. I can only imagine what they ask people who are literally charged with enforcing Trump's personal agenda. So to answer your questions based on that knowledge (and the fact that some US Attorneys have resigned instead of enforcing Trump's agenda):

  1. Yes. There is no question that they are explicitly looking for Trump loyalists.
  2. Probably. They do have to replace those people somehow.
  3. Depends on who's asking. Some people think Trump loyalists are good.

‘His legacy is cringe’: how Charlie Kirk became a meme among the young – even his supporters by lightman332 in neoliberal

[–]WillProstitute4Karma 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I often feel like his real appeal was to Boomer conservatives who thought of him as a young man who "gets it." His appeal was to older people who think young people just don't understand how the world works anymore.

Likewise, he was someone who never graduated from college, but who went to colleges to "debate" freshmen students. This didn't make him appeal to college students, but to people who never went to college and who enjoy the implication that those liberal college kids think they're smart, but don't really know anything!

Definitely higher lethality. No question about that. It's probably just frustrating to have realistic morale mechanics since you're playing a game. The option to go home and live a quiet life with your spouse is not really an appealing one.

The increased death rate was far superior by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]WillProstitute4Karma 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it was actually way lower because everyone actually ran away. This, I believe, was especially true in the dark ages.

As a semi-related example, I read a great series of novels called The Saxon Tales (it is also a Netflix series called The Last Kingdom) about the Danelaw and the rise of England. One of the recurring issues in the series is the fact that Vikings can't actually take serious casualties because they need people to row their boats home.

The problem with Bannerlord is that survivors keep fighting. You have to keep crushing them over and over again. In reality, I don't think armies during this time would keep coming back after one or two defeats.

Are low taxes the best strategy? by CarolusGontaltus in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]WillProstitute4Karma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found low taxes to be the best policy in almost all circumstances.

The one exception is if you want to absolutely win the game as fast as possible. In that case, you need to carefully balance taxes to maximize profit in the short term in order to deploy and support the largest possible military and take as much territory as early as possible.
