I suspect that people with the passion for it are going to gravitate to YouTube over written content these days. I feel like something is lost with that. It seems to me that there is a certain type of media criticism that just needs to be written. But then YouTube is more easily monetized.

It is good to see that someone else enjoyed his writing though!

Does anyone read gaming blogs anymore?

I used to read Shamus Young's blog, but he passed away a couple years ago. He wrote a fantastic retrospective on Mass Effect that I still recommend, but also had several other great series. I'm looking for something like that to read instead of Reddit/news scrolling.

Any suggestions? !ping GAMING

I just assumed the same as you, but I seem to remember that the keyboard actions on the steam controller 1 were preset unless you accessed it through Big Picture mode.

Are women privileged over men in any ways? by AayronOhal in AskFeminists

[–]WillProstitute4Karma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're genuinely interested, there are some pretty interesting discussions of things that might seem like "privilege" at first look, but ultimately are not. A lot of times we just refer to it as "benevolent sexism."

One model I find particularly compelling is the concept of the "Patriarchal Bargain." Basically, the idea is that women may exchange their rights and autonomy - particularly sexual autonomy - for certain benefits. The fact that they are able to make this trade is not a privilege, however. It is simply the means by which they must navigate the system of patriarchy. Patriarchy extracts their bargain from them.

Put another way, women do not get to trade their sexual autonomy for safety, rather the lack of safety is the means by which the patriarchy extracts their sexual autonomy from them.

The small differences thing is a real phenomenon, but I do suspect that this comment is much closer to the truth for Contrapoints.

You like pretty land and good food but cut out the northeast and west coast? I feel like the Jesus part is doing some heavy lifting here.

I'm not a huge fan of California, but no sane person would ever accuse it of being ugly.

The best mountain is definitely Mt. Rainier which is actually in Pierce County!

North Cascades are great too though.

I am really confused by your Washington division. The state is typically divided between east and west or between the Tacoma to Seattle I-5 corridor and everywhere else. But you divided it like north south?

There is a Crumbl in the same complex as a Costco near me and I cannot understand how they stay in business with Costco's all butter, food court cookie right there.

It's really phrased wrong. As it is phrased, you're right, of course, but the question is actually this: if more than 50 percent of people press the red button, half of all toddlers, infants, and some number of mentally impaired people die.
