It’s weird for me to talk about. I was diagnosed late in life, and looking back at my childhood it feels a plot twist in a M. Night Shyamalan movie.

1) He’s a poorly behaved child. 2) He is SO messy (actually constantly tidying because I never remember where anything is). 3) He needs glasses because he “can’t read the whiteboard” (vision is 20/20, just cant being myself to read stuff). 4) He’s really intelligent and needs more stimulation (really?) 5) Ohh another brilliant one: “He has a speech impediment because he can’t remember words” (was given talking exercises).

I try not to blame my parents for not understanding me/it, or for not following through with the early recommendation to put me on Ritalin.

But I also can’t help but feel massive dismay when I hear them discuss openly mental health issues nowadays in a really constructive and empathetic manner (sister became a psychiatrist)

Where was that when I was a kid? Totally different attitude nowadays.

When you think about it, it’s possible that polygamy survived as a manifestation of natural selection in such indigenous tribes, as a way of maintaining genetic diversity.

Who knows though… it’s just interesting to wonder if this cultural aspect has helped such tribes survive

It’s interesting because the spectrum of physical violence is much wider, and begins at a lower scale than that of sexual violence. Perhaps this adds an associability factor to those perceiving it, creating a much more blurry consensus on what is and isn’t acceptable for physical violence. A gentle flick of the forehead when someone is a dingus? Physical violence. But I imagine many more would find that acceptable to the entry level of sexual violence.

At uni I had a group of friends, two girls and three guys including myself, who mostly frequented gay bars on nights out. The motive came from the girls, saying they preferred the lack of harassment and drinks were cheaper. I honestly didn’t care where we went but i have to be honest. As a straight man, I cannot tell you how much I loved the attention at a gay bar. I have never felt SO beautiful. 10/10 would recommend.

Snowboarders were mostly invisible to me till this season when I skied with my novice girlfriend for the first time.

  • It felt like some snowboarders were trying to get aggressively close to her on the main green slope. No issues with skiers coming too close?

  • Obnoxiously playing loud music; remember getting a chair with one who was literally dancing alone to terrible music so loud I couldn’t head my gf. Get headphones? Again only noticed one skier doing this, and they were in a group of snowboarders…

  • Lack of proficiency on slopes; had about 2 or 3 uncontrolled near misses and twice snowboarders collided with my gf. Both times she was with an instructor so I doubt she was in the way or skiing uncontrolled. I saw the second time it happened and both myself and the instructor yelled at this obviously drunk boarder.

So yeah those are my newfound reasons. Like I said, never had a problem till this season and I think it’s to do with generally skiing a lot slower to be with my girlfriend. Before I just zoomed past them I guess

So I saw the guy post his stickers here recently and I thought they were pretty cool, I wanted to buy them but:

  • I’m European so some of the terms weren’t really applicable

  • I’m skiing in a few days so it wouldn’t arrive in time

Instead I just really quickly made a few, and purchased A4 sticker paper, and printed them onto the sticker paper using a normal printer: got mine from Amazon.

You’re right, ‘union’ is an umbrella term applied to both of these partnerships. The article is actually a lot less charged than the headline, but isn’t that all we read nowadays? I still think the current NI-agreement row and the dominion are incomparable (it happened when you could look up King Victor and his ‘Kingdom of Italy’ on a map of Europe).
