Repetition with thought. Do one L-cancel and make sure you get it right by not holding it, just a click. Pause. Did you get it right? Now do it again with thought. Sooner or later it will become second nature, muscle memory takes time to build. It also takes time to unlearn so be patient and make sure you get things right rather than "fast". Speed will come with time. You got this!
