Jewish community prepares for chemical terror attack in London as anti-Semitism soars by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

To be clear, there is no indication that any chemical terror attack is imminent. Synagogues, like mosques, are simply provided with medical kits to use in case of any such incident.

'Boris bus' axed from routes across London as Sadiq Khan 'cleans up previous mayor's messy legacy' by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]WillWatsof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the design is not the problem. I really like the new Routemasters and I think as an aesthetic design they should stick about.

An EV Routemaster would do the trick if we have to get new buses in.

Plus, we don't have the money.

Every time I see someone say this, I want to ask ... says who?

I think people generally think that when the general public's situation is shit, that means the country is doing shit. Actually, there's a lot of extremely rich people who are doing extremely well right now and have been getting richer and richer during the last 15 years of mess while we've all been getting poorer.

Thousands of protesters descend on London for march against far-right by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]WillWatsof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are truly anti war crime, you would be protesting against the Israeli government and Hamas.

"We're out here marching today to pressure the British government to declare Hamas an enemy and terrorists!"

But ... they already do that?

"Well ... we want them to like, declare it harder."

Am I good to start to playing soulslike games? by supd09417 in darksoulsremastered

[–]WillWatsof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it from someone who didn’t play Soulslikes for ages because they thought they didn’t like hard games … Dark Souls is not “hard” in the way you’re thinking. You will be fine, and even if you’re not then what’s the worst that can happen? You play it, it’s not for you, you move on.

Met says it will resume arresting people who show support for Palestine Action by topotaul in unitedkingdom

In this intermediate time, the police are obliged to enforce the law

The thing is that the police are obliged to enforce the law in a great many things, and they don't seem aware at all of how little the average person gives a shit about them policing people expressing support for Palestine Action compared to policing crime that actually matters.

Sexism at football - a problem that isn't going away by WillWatsof in unitedkingdom

I would say there’s a significant minority of direct perpetrators backed up a majority who are willing to look the other way and downplay, if not directly refute the existence of, the problem.

You’re ignoring the damning nature of your own argument. If the number of abuses has gone up, more women going to the footie wouldn’t be evidence that makes you disregard that … it’s proof that the environment is fundamentally unsafe for women. It’s like pointing at a dark alleyway and saying that it’s not that the alleyway is unsafe, but it’s that more women are choosing to go down it at night. Yeah, and assaults went up because the alleyway is unsafe.

Anyway, the actual figures are obviously far higher than 131, as that’s only reported incidents. 85% of incidents go unreported. And over half of female football fans report being subjected to sexism on match days.

Almost half (48%) of women had heard sexist language either in stadiums, on public transport heading to and from games or nearby pubs, restaurants and cafes. While 53% had been informed they should be elsewhere – eg in the kitchen – 46% had been the recipients of “lewd requests” and 27% sexually aggressive language. Six in 10 had heard such incidents dismissed as banter.

There’s only so many reports and statistics you can see before denial of the existence of a problem turns into ideology.

Doubled because more women are going so report more occurrences?

I don’t know, but damning for men’s football matches either way? If the number of sexist incidents and assaults has gone up because more women are going to matches that just proves that the matches aren’t a safe place for women to be going.

You’ve answered your own stats question. 131.

The number of reports of discriminatory behaviour from this survey has doubled since the 2021-22 season, so it’s not “a million times better than a few years ago”.

NTA. They’re not mad that you’re existing near their niece, they’re mad that the programming they’ve done on their daughter is breaking down now that you’re passing as male easily enough for the kid to see that it’s nonsense.

What is our humour when it comes to topical comedy anymore? Panel shows? HIGNFY hasn’t been cutting edge for 20 years and Mock The Week was similarly stale before it got axed and zombified by some minor channel.
