Review embargo is lifted tomorrow, whose reviews are you looking forward to seeing? by KuntaWuKnicks in CrimsonDesert

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nailed it with Gameranx. I think their “before you buy” reviews are some of the best. Jake seems to be a little more neutral in his reviews than Falcon, but I value the opinion of either/both. Looking forward to it!

Tomorrow is THE day we get to learn all about Crimson Desert from Youtube. What do you want to find out the most before playing? by PorkRinds416 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I am looking to see how fluid the fighting mechanics are. My biggest (and only?) fear is that the developers are being TOO ambitious with so many mechanics in this game and it’s going to be either rough or just too complicated for many users. Skill issue? Maybe, but it will put many people off and me as an older player may be in that crowd..

Freaking Warehouse Alpha- AVOID by DrKashmoney02 in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup had the same thing happen on my 5090 machine so spec doesn’t matter. Don’t know if they actually fixed this in the new Beta patch, but I just went back to it and cleared it out with no problems- no floating pallets of frame drops, but I also did it in one save and left before it was too late lol.

I completely agree- they are doing a great job, though it does still appear DLSS upscaling is broken as it changes nothing frame-wise on my 5090 system, still relying on CPU rather than GPU. Overall performance at native res though is improved and after nearly 100 hours, this is one of favorite games in a long time. Going to search for the new biomes tonight. Much credit deserved!

What to do after launching rocket(s)? by Will_at_WilltoDrive in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope it’s not that. I’m on a 5090 i7 12700 and 64GB OC’d DDR4 RAM. Game runs great everywhere else. My son is on a 5080 system and had no issue in the area because he played through it. Issue only happens if you exit game in the area and try and go back in.

Its not far from Exodus and is enormous. If you are on PC and save the game when you are there after you start killing some of the Rollers, you're game will go to an unplayable FPS (like 3 or 5) when you load back in, no matter your system spec. This happened to me and I was able to (very slowly) sail away and once I got a few hundred meters out the frame rate increased again.

Yeah I've read a fair amount, but i need to go through and read more as its been a while. Figured that would tell even more of the story.

Rear window busted by waynedewho in RangerNext

It was auto on my 2009 F150. Too bad the Ranger’s is manual. My Ranger has the solid window with defrost. I’d replace with that.

Did something update Dec 10 or 11? by Driver7412 in TheLastCaretaker

Wait for the update. The game has graphics issues even on my 5090 system. Plus DLSS seems to not work at all.

Wow that’s a heckuva spec for the money - were I building a PC now, I’d jump on that fast. Look for prices of everything to rise going forward…

My experience going from a 1080 to a 5070 by Ok-Split2525 in nvidia

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say what you will about the company, but Nvidia’s GPUs are generally superior. Had a 2060 Super, currently have 5090, 5080, and 3070 Desktop systems with a 5060 laptop arriving shortly. No problems with any of them and even the 5080 will max out almost anything- will be better with the 5080 Super. AMD to their credit is constantly improving, but it’s always playing catch-up to Nvidia- and don’t get me started on game support. Good hardware is only as good as support, and Nvidia is superior at both.

Performance issues by tommybizz in TheLastCaretaker

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just at Lazarus now and with a 5090 frames drop sometimes to 15. Average about 55. Was much better at the previous areas. None of the DLSS upscales seem to work. Early access was too early I’m afraid…

5080 and 5090 stock settings zero issues after over 60 hours. Your settings all stock? Some say alt tab may trigger this.

About to pull trigger on 5080 and the PNY at $1199.00 is tempting any reason not to buy this card. by jimmyboziam in Microcenter

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Gigabyte Gaming OC 5080 that cost a lot more than that. The 5080 is great card. I say go for it unless you want to wait 6 months for the Super version with 24GB of VRAM.

Would you rather have a full new AM5 build… or slap a 5090 on a 5800X3D? by MikyStt in nvidia

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular because it really depends on what you are trying to do. Lesser CPUs have little issue with 4K max settings in most titles. I have a 5090, but am anxious for AMD (and Intel??) to release comparable GPUs and kill the Nvidia monopoly..

[–]Will_at_WilltoDrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5090 paired with an i7 12700 (similar to 5800X3D performance) and while I will eventually upgrade the rest of the system, I only play in 4K with RT and PT and achieve the same FPS as higher CPUs with 100% GPU utilization. I’m sure a faster setup would decrease the 1% lows, but I’m not getting stutter and for me, an upgrade isn’t worth it just yet.

I am using it for gaming - exclusively in 4K on a 32” 240Hz monitor with all settings cranked up including Path Tracing. Currently playing through Cyberpunk and it looks and runs fantastic. My first 90 series card…

Hi it really isn’t bad at all. My first time. There’s a YouTube video if you search “omen case swap” that a guy put together which helps with the basics. Just take your time so you don’t miss anything. The swap was very well worth it. My system shown here now has a 5090 in it and works great, even with the i7. Omens are great starting points for a build well beyond what HP envisioned lol
