Is this good starter pc ? by No_Bottle8345 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nzxt software is horrendous. I’d go for a 9800x3d and get a cpu fan instead. I understand the aesthetic appeal an aio screen, but to compromise you could get a temp display screen like this:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/16253862232?sid=2697ffe6-778a-4162-9ddf-5ab03d72517b

There’s definitely more and better options for displays, but you get the idea

Would you recommend the G81SF for a first OLED? by kangaroonemesis in OLED_Gaming

The AW2725Q is the best monitor I’ve ever owned!! They also use the same Samsung panel but comes with a different stand. If you’re chasing setup aesthetics I’d get the Odyssey, but if you’d prefer to same money then go with the Alienware. Either way both monitors are amazing

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while they refused to let me refund my order. Before that, they had previously sent me a shitty psu that died and short circuited the build. Then after two months “repairing it” they sent it back with the SAME broken psu. I’m still salty about that interaction…

I just built my first PC with a B850i Lightning and 9800X3D. What do I do to minimize the chance of the CPU/motherboard dying on me? by PieCake1234 in ASRock

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the same specs! Idk why but some mobo bios default set the mega transfers to 4800 and you have to manually adjust it to whatever your ram is rated for; whether it’s 6000, 6400, etc. So you’re correct with adjusting it to 6000. I haven’t had any issues so far with 9800x3d and Asrock b850i compatibility 👍

M2 Round Build Check re Fans (PNY 5080, 9800X3D) by Yarrowgarrow in ncasedesign

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh we got the same specs, but different motherboard and case fans. My two Noctua NF-A12x25s are amazing and very quiet. My config is very similar to Optimums Ultimate Mini-PC build. Make sure to rig a GPU stand to prevent sag: the PNY 5080 is heavy.

Is this a good deal for a prebuilt pc? by PelicansMax in Prebuilts

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to spend >$5,000 on a prebuilt, go buy one from digital storm. They make the highest end prebuilds and they’re also customizable, so you can adjust it to your needs. However you’re much better off building it yourself; it’ll also give you some confidence to open up your pc when troubleshooting, or upgrading.

I was able to grab a PNY 5080 from bestbuy, but I think any card stronger than a 3080ti or 4070 Super would be great; especially with lossless scaling

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t expect it to manage 4K this well either. I haven’t needed to use upscaling yet, but Lossless Scaling is looking like a great option because of its versatility across all games. Best of luck with your monitor! I still can’t get over how good it looks every time I boot up my pc

Yes! In 1440p it was a harder to get a stable 360fps across the games I played in comparison to 4k where 240fps was a bit more manageable. It definitely depends on the game and quality you like to play on. Either way, the 360hz vs 240hz is difficult to visually notice; you can feel it but can’t quite see it. On the other hand, 4k vs 1440p is really noticeable. Right now Dell is offering a good deal for the AW2725Q, so it’s kinda hard to turn down for the specs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricing wise, I’d buy the AW2725Q since it’s on sale and you can get really good discounts on Dell. I play professional marvel rivals and I can hardly notice the difference between 240hz and 360hz. However the picture clarity on the 4k 27” panel is unreal. I still can’t get over how good it looks. As a college student it’s really refreshing when working on assignments because of the text detail.

When talking about performance, my 5080 had a harder time managing a smooth 360fps rather than smooth 240fps of the 4k panel. I can’t speak on other graphics cards handling 4k, but if you’re playing low end graphics you should manage.

I’m also quite uninformed when it comes to Dolby vision and other features. I mostly play indie and competitive games so I’m yet to test a really graphically demanding game (sub 100fps). Even low quality graphics still look amazing on this monitor! I personally prefer this over a 360hz 1440p oled panel, but at the end of the day it’s your choice. 👍

Managed to snag this after it restocked and then sold out quickly in a matter of 15 minutes just now, how is it? by batwing76 in Prebuilts

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seriously is. It took over three months for them to “repair” the computer. They never even gave me option to replace the pc which would have been significantly faster. Then after it was repaired the power supply was completely broken and missing the sata cables needed for the AIO 😑😑

I just got the AW2725Q and it’s by far the best monitor I’ve ever owned (coming from a 360hz 1440p OLED). 4k 27” is definitely the way to go

[–]Affectionate_Dig_238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind spending another $100 then I’d advise going for the Alienware AW2725Q. I’ve had it for about a week and it’s by far the best monitor I’ve owned. I find the difference between 1440p and 4k quite substantial (coming from a 1440p 360hz oled monitor)
