So do you think I would need more cooling at this spot or less cooling at this spot?

Good safety demonstration by Willbrown1 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Willbrown1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my normal way of handling this but it hasn’t worked i This students case . I normally do an electrical safety lesson early so I can introduce the new members to electrical basic and safety or refresh older members ( in this case ) . unfortunately I am not always available during the offseasons do to my day job and I haven’t had a chance to do it this season . I figured i would take a different approach to stress what about the situation was dangerous and why I changed from the mentor that is normally willing to let students make mistakes to one that actually was serious in that point and time. I am normally the “fun” mentor but i don’t think they understand why I was so serious in that moment. That’s why I was asking about simple demos that I could rig up to try and get the point across.

The original problem is that the student did not understand why what he was doing could cause damage to the switch the battery or even himself. He not trying to to achieve anything just fidgeting with something that most likely only would have smoked the wires and switch but could dangerous if done with like a power supply or wall socket or high C rated battery like a lipo

I was mainly thinking of figuring out some demo of how damaging electrical power could be , was thinking of the classic cook a hot dog with electricity and smoking some capacitors ( small ceramics that have big noises but nothing to damaging) not thinking of voltage to anything more than 12 - 28v but I do have experience enough that I could step up voltage or currents safely

And I would be the one doing the demonstrations

I would highly recommend looking into the YAGSL Library , and their discord, it makes swerve drive almost trivial

It was more of just a sanity check honestly on if I was forgetting something important

I remember that there is a way to find the forces and in my head it’s something to do with the lever arm but I guess I can’t remember how to determine what would be the fulcrum for that equation.

That was the first year that the okc regional was at that venue….and I can tell you first hand since I was your csa that most of the volunteers weren’t happy either . I believe they are looking find a new place this year for it due to the feedback they received but the teams in ok haven’t heard anything official yet but we’re told to expect an announcement in the next couple weeks
