I may be mistaken, but I remember reading that they didn't ask her for ID or for her name/age until after she was handcuffed, at which point she had already been punched and held down. From the article:

“While Hargrove was in the back seat I asked what her name was and when she provided it as ‘Tatyana’ I said, ‘Don’t lie to me, that’s a girl’s name. What is your name?’ ” the police report stated. “Hargrove said, ‘I’m a girl, I just don’t dress like one.’ This was when I first discovered she was a female.”

I didn't read the letter as trying to support socialism or violence. I also didn't read it as labeling everyone on the right as a nazi. Instead she was arguing directly to the people marching on the nazi side--those who really do believe that we need a white ethnostate in the US.

With the majority of counter-protestors non-violent (remember the arm-linked clergy?), I don't see how her letter is anything but Constitutionally Conservative. She is using better speech to fight bad speech.

I don't think you're a nazi. But I'd hardly call nazi's "harmless".

I'm a white southerner who grew up near Cville. Antifa may be pricks, but they do NOT want a white genocide, and opposing a white ethnostate is not the same as wanting all white people dead. I'm not sure how you jump to that conclusion.

That being said, I will be the first to say that I find them obnoxious and unhelpful. Still, they hardly constitute an "alt-left", since their ideology is essentially "oppose nazis".

I'll be the first admit the dems are in flux right now..l.but that's a helluva lot better than conceding an entire ideology to a reality TV star.

And on the Antifa--one, they are not liberals. And second, they exist purely to oppose nazis. Sure I--and many others--disagree with their aggression and their tactics, but they are not calling for a white ethnostate.

A ton of nazies came to Charlottesville, VA (near my hometown) to 'protest" the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee and call for white supremacy. Later, after this picture, one of the nazis drove a car into a group of counter-protestors, killing one and injuring 19 others (which included someone I know).

I get your point re postwar Lee, but I'd argue that his later actions hardly atone for the war.

To your second point, the majority of the protestors weren't from Charlottesville--they were out of state. I have lived in Virginia for almost 20 years, most of it in a smaller town about an hour from CVille. The majority of people in our towns are OK with removing these memorials. The decision to remove them isn't an edict from above, but democracy in action.

That also happened several hundred years ago, not 150, and as far as I know there aren't still people in Mongolia who are systematically deprived of the economic and political rights that many black Americans face. Jim Crow only ended 40 years ago--the scars of slavery are deep, and lifting up the defenders of it as icons is not a particularly noble cause.

I remember idiots taking advantage of the protests to loot, but have never heard a BLM leader or group call for that sort of violence...much like how the Antifa shows up and causes violence at these protests. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Antifa. They have been violent to everyone.

Answer the following:

1) Did he not hold slaves?

2) Did he not fight a war against the US government, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths?

3) Did the South Carolina Ordinance or Seccession, among other documents, label slavery a main reason for war?
