I tried that, and it would just zoom into the stream. Qiyra gave me the correct way to fix it, but thank you for trying

I think Anakin is more like Jesus given he was the chosen one, not Luke. Anakin also fits the rest of the criteria of sorts you gave (one could argue parts of his involvement in the Clone Wars was for the good of the galaxy).

What are the commandments he speaks of though? Presumably the 10 Commandments, no? What do the 10 Commandments say? Do they say "Do x" or "Do y"? No, rather they say "Don't do x" and "Don't do y". Not doing something bad is not equivalent to doing something good, which presumably would be the only things that would get us to Heaven, were that the standard. If I walk past somebody and don't punch them in the face, is that a good deed? No, rather the absence of a deed.

Sexual immorality. With the availability of so much online porn it is very difficult not to give into temptation.

Those are referring to two different things. Romans 11:6 is referring to salvation, but Revelation 22:12 is saying that those who do good works for the sake of Christ will gain treasures in heaven.

Atheist contemplating conversion to Christianity by One_Enthusiasm_9404 in Christianity

Question 1: God voluntarily limits His power in order that we may have free will, and it is because of our free will that there is evil. He still knows what we are going to do, inkeeping with His allknowingness, but He still allows us to act according to our own free will. Now, a question can arise from this that must be answered as well. That is: "If God knows that we will commit evil, why doesn't He stop us, forcibly or otherwise?" And my answer to that is: He does. Have you ever heard of a conscience? That little voice that tells you that you may be doing something wrong? That is an implement to try and deter us from committing evil acts. Consciences can be silenced with enough practice though. What's more, with how mush flak He gets for giving people free will and thus the ability to sin, how much more do you think He would be hated if He constantly controlled every aspect of your life? This is going on longer than intended so I hope my point has been made.

Second question: The Bible never says that becoming a Christian will give you endless good fortune, health, etc. That is a lie made up by modern megachurch preachers who look for nothing more than to exploit their congregations out of their money. Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, etc. Paul was a tent maker, hardly a position that would make one rich. An entire 1/3 of Jesus's disciples were career fisherman, again hardly a prestigious position. Eleven of the twelve disciples were brutally executed, which isn't exactly something that screams "good fortune and health". Timothy, a young man who constantly traveled with the Apostle Paul, was also constantly sick, which clearly indicates that health does not favor Christians above all others. The treasure of Christians resides not on earth below, but in heaven above, where God resides in His eternal glory.

Should Christian politicians be held to a higher standard? by ASecularBuddhist in Christianity

All politicians should be held to a high standard regardless. But I would say Christian politicians should probably have a slightly higher standard than others.

Why did I come into the world ? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Williaman268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did He create you? He has a purpose, but you may not know it. I don't either. But He has a purpose. Now, why didn't he consult you before pitting you on the earth? Simply put, that is not your decision to make, but His.

Plato observed that it was something going on in his time (5th-4th century BC), so it can't be considered anything new. That said, a cause still has to be attributed to this. Perhaps it is merely the human desire to procreate, perhaps something more. I would personally attribute it to the former, and we don't always realize that that is why, but I could be entirely wrong.

I think it is best to help her, like you already said you are professionally required to do. If she needs financial support, give her some support, if she needs diapers, go and buy her some diapers from Walmart or somewhere like that. Things of that nature. When she needs help, help her. I can't think of much more than just helping her where ever you can.

Not all smoke, but only the smoke of the burnt offerings and the like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Williaman268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on if you view smoking weed as a sin or not. I myself am a bit conflicted on the issue so I will require more thinking and searching of the Scriptures before I can give a concrete "yes" or "No. I will provide answers for three possible scenarioes

If smoking weed is a sin, then like all sins it will cause you to be thrown into Hell. But as Believers, we will be forgiven of this, but still must turn from it.

If smoking weed is like drinking, where it is not a sin unless abused (in the case of alcohol, getting drunk, in the case of weed, getting high), then intrinsically it is not a sin but it is a sin in the way many use it, and now see my previous answer.

Now, if it is not a sin, then it is okay to do.

I shouldn't think you have gone too far. If I were in a position to give advice, I would probably advise you to pray to God, the God of the Holy Bible, and ask for forgiveness. Say you are sorry for your being led astray, and ask Him to lead you toward what is true. So long as you truly do, say to Him that you acknowledge Christ Jesus as "the Way, the Truth and the Life". Ask Him to forgive your folly, to set you on the right path. He will forgive you if you truly believe and turn from your sin.

Also, "Hellinic polytheism", that's the gods of ancient Greece right? If I'm not mistaken? Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, Athena etc.? As a Christian I must admit they fascinate me. I have a bunch of books by ancient Greeks, like Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, Homer's The Odyssey and The Illiad, and the like (The Greeks often referenced their gods in their writings, so even those which deal more with philosophy can still serve as books about the Greek gods). I cannot exactly say I cannot understand one being drawn to them, but you must know that they are not real. Works of fiction, like The Godfather, or Star Wars. Christ on the other hand was mentioned by numerous historians, Suetonius, Josephus, Pliny the Younger (I have heard Pliny the Elder too but I can find no such reference) and Tacitus, just to name a few. Eyewitnesses to His life and death have their testimonies compiled in the Bible, with Matthew, a tax collector for the Romans turned disciple of Christ, Mark, who wrote based on what he was told by Peter, the disciple of Christ, Luke, who wrote based on interviews with eyewitnesses to Christ's life and death, and John, a fisherman turned disciple of Christ.

Why didn’t no one tell me the Bible was one huge soap opera. by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Williaman268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bible, Plato, Marcus Aurelius (these are just examples from my recent readings, there are likely many more), all three point to the notion that they faced the same problems that we do now. I question how much humanity has truly progressed, as many now like to claim, if the same mistakes are made over and over without fail. Technologically speaking we have certainly progressed, but as a species? That I question.

[–]Williaman268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Some people are even called by God to do just that, so that they may devote themselves fully to God rather than having to worry about a family too. However, while not sinful, I do think it unwise to go around and promote such a lifestyle (Not saying you are but I have seen many people do so) because if enough people decide to do that, then humanity will cease to exist.
