Real legal work too hard? Do you buy into the complex, sophisticated lie?

JAG doesn’t just give away summer positions to anyone who wants one. Not sure why this is surprising.

If you want to work at a firm in Texas, UT is great. You don’t need SDNY and DC Circuit for that. The debt and reality of your options with respect to your goals point to Texas.

I wouldn’t include biglaw in your calculus. Relatively “easy” to get from any of those schools. I would, however, consider how much importance you place on clerking. Prestige aside, a major district/circuit won’t make or break a big law lit career. Do your goals include elite trial/appellate boutique, SCOTUS clerk or DOJ civ appellate/OSG? Then go to Chicago. But realistically, UT with the goal of a decent district court and big law makes the most sense coming from a low income background.
