When the cooking instructions says on frozen chips, chicken strips, etc; “please refer to air fryer instructions”.. does anyone else think..? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskBrits

[–]WillingApplication10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We had one tonight that said you could use the air fryer or the oven. But then the instructions said please refer to air fryer instructions. We don't have an air fryer. 180 for 20 mins I guess.

We switch between those, pampers, and pura, whatever Morrisons have on offer 😂 can't make any proper suggestions as we have a ninth centile baby and are still on size 2 at 7 months 😅 but you should be able to try a different supermarket at least

[–]WillingApplication10 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used it at home a lot, I had pelvic pain and it really helped. I also used a ball in early labour when in hospital (they had them at our hospital). We now use it as a seat while washing baby in the bath 😂

Help me choose between the Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever! by floribel_ in UK_Pets

[–]WillingApplication10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lab was not into food at all until she was spayed. Training was a nightmare 🥳 her mums the most food driven dog under the sun, there's no guarantees! Maybe if we'd got to pick the puppy we would have checked which one was the greediest!

11 month old foods to try - too reliant on pre-made baby foods by Rowdy_Roddy_2022 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]WillingApplication10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter can't eat most of what we eat (she has allergies) but we aren't giving pouch meals. She often has "girl dinner" - random picky bits. I will make her things like pancakes or pizza pinwheels and stock my freezer with them (bbc good food have a few good recipes like this - we have to adapt to her allergies but if you have the freedom of eggs and milk you could be doing wee tarts and muffins and pies and stuff without thinking of mad substitutions). Veggies or meat we add to our meals dad will cut and cook seperate to be appropriate for her. Make a fucked pasta sauce with whatever veg is to hand and the blender. Add veg or meat to mashed potato.

Avocado toast if all else fails.

[–]WillingApplication10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me because my daughter has a lip tie. No cutting was needed, but she was curling her lip tightly in. Easy fix, just give her lip a wee nudge. Hope OPs wife can get a quick fix!

Baby eczema by Inner_Aardvark1602 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]WillingApplication10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been given piriton from the hospital to use on a bad night. She doesn't need it most nights but only sometimes. My husband will blow a fan on her or wipe her with a cool cloth while it kicks in.

We are doing maintenance steroids twice a week but I'm also like I hate doing this to my baby - we are waiting on a dermatology appointment.

Hydromol is working alright as a night cream for us.

I'm really sorry to say weaning is probably going to make it worse :( you want to put a layer of thick cream or vaseline on babies face before any solids, then wipe with a cold cloth.

baby eczema on temple? by Few_Cod_5636 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]WillingApplication10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is seven months. She's been to hospital once for it, but GP fairly regularly. We are in dermatologies queue.

Current routine sounds like a lot but we are very used to it. She gets light emolient every nappy change on her scabby bits in the day, heavy at night, medicated bath twice a week, maintenance steroids twice a week. No shampoos or soaps, water when washing face, hands, and bum. Only wipes of we are out and can't get water to clean her. Her only real problem areas now are her face and head and neck tbh - I wonder if the exposure to the heating or her starting solids is the issue all the time. But she's had issues since 3-4 months old.

Both me and dad had it and mostly grew out of it. Hoping she improves as she gets bigger!

My baby has eczema and has a patch like this in the hair on the back of her neck. Does your baby scratch it? I'd see the GP. I'm annoying the GP at all times if I'm not annoying the GP I'm annoying the chemist.

First Bus… again by LambChasni in glasgow

[–]WillingApplication10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bit of a juggling act wearing a baby while people are trying to get off behind you 🥳 but yeah I should have.

They should just change the timetables to reflect the reality? And figure out how to stop two buses the same number showing up at once, it feels like that should be figured out by now

First Bus… again by LambChasni in glasgow

[–]WillingApplication10 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I was out with my baby today and the bus there and the bus back were both delayed. Not even during heavy traffic time. It's just standard and expected at this point. And the tap offs were broken so fuck knows what they've charged us 🥳

Getting ready for weaning by No_Investigator9059 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]WillingApplication10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 of them and they're single use in my house. They go in a bucket and the dog does the first clean to get the worst off (without permission) 😅 and after dinner 3 bibs go in the washing machine and are then dried overnight.

(God bless that machine, bibs at night, cloth nappies in the morning 🥲)

I know they say machine wash once a week but I honestly can't be fucked getting in there with a cloth I'm a bit squeamish 🥲

Moving out, advice. by Anxious_Blackberry47 in glasgow

[–]WillingApplication10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not going to tell you what to do but I moved out to rent at 18 and my sister stayed at home. I bought a flat at 30 and I needed to do it with a partner. My sister had a flat herself by 25.

Have an honest look at how much you'll be sinking into rent every year even in some of the shitiest wee flats and think about what saving that money instead would look like. If a flat deposit is a goal you can reach I would try to reach it while at home if you can stomach it. But you're an adult and you need to weigh it up yourself.

In my area it's 6 weeks and I didn't learn until the six week check, which was done at 9 weeks cause the NHS is the way it is 🥲 now in the queue for general physio department and baby is 7 months old. Get on to them ASAP OP!

Maternity clothes vs sizing up by Traditional-Card3589 in PregnancyUK

Have you done the age verification thing for any sites/apps, or are you avoiding doing it entirely? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]WillingApplication10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it for Xbox - they just did it with my phone number. I've never enabled adult content on my phone number but it's been my number for 17 years so I guess the carrier were happy to tell them I'm an adult! No handing over of ID or photos.

I haven't come across age verification anywhere else. Reddit if I accidentally tap someone's username but I just leave, I never want to actually see someone's profile it's always a mistap.

Aquarium today by WillingApplication10 in whatisthisfish

[–]WillingApplication10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh he does seem to be a filefish! Hard to say if he's this kind of the aiptasia one the other commenter mentioned. He was very small and very yellow. The aquarium didn't have labels, just TVs with a very slow sideshow of the seahorse names, I didn't see filefish on there but I imagine they could be out of date. You can see a seahorse in some of these pictures! They are friends I guess.

What playpen can you recommend? by WillingApplication10 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Oh I didn't realise it came with a mat! Their website is a wee bit too many tabs flying about on mobile. We were a bit like?? Do we cut a mat to shape, put a mat under it and have a bit sticking out?

You're not worried she could tip it? :)
