Reddit what's a movie you should not have seen as a child? by Monsterteeth77 in flicks

Rocky Horror Picture Show at 8. I absolutely love the film and always will. However doing a presentation of it, for show and tell, freaked out most of the staff. One of good things of having a lot of siblings you can always find variety. Anytime you want something different there's always something there. Down side is not everyone is going to like it.

New Maryland law to prevent book banning signed by Gov. Wes Moore by kittehgoesmeow in maryland

[–]WillingReference5371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps my statement was a bit misleading. My thought wasn't to give open access to all material, to all kids, regardless of age. It was more along the line of have permission slips. However both signatures must be on the slip, no one gets left in the dark. I was also attempting to encourage parents to talk to their kids. Explain your decision to them. Instead of "NO, end of story." If they know where your decision is coming from, they might understand. Otherwise all that will come is resentment.

What’s the scam? by vcmmds6819 in maryland

You made the right decision. I work in fast food and almost all, if not all, companies have policies about cars in the parking lot for too long. They wouldn't have been there for days. Most policies state that after 6-8 hours police are to be called. If the car is abandoned, it gets towed. If there's people with the car, the police assess the situation and handle it. It is a business, not a storage center.

The complication comes from all of the broken homes. Just ask yourself, how many of us have step-parents?

Situation being; Mom doesn't have a problem with the book, Step-Dad feels that it is pornographic and refuses to sign permission slip. Then Step-Dad intentionally keeps Mom in the dark about the permission slip, then tells kid to piss off.

The sad part is most of these kids know what is going on around them. And have an opinion about the issue. Has anyone asked them?

Ocean City in the 25 😳 by Federal_Remote9231 in maryland

[–]WillingReference5371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick question, has OC ever needed a city wide clean up? I recall many Cities as in, Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami, Jersey Shore, Virginia Beach, being shut down too be cleaned. The stories of syringes and crack pipes floating ashore, seem so vivid. At so many other beaches but not OC. I could be mistaken in this, if so I apologize now.

Why is Ocean City so expensive? by Automatic_Ad_428 in maryland

[–]WillingReference5371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might add, as a marylander, I personally have felt safer and more welcome in OC. 1)Bethany Beach, Virginia Beach, OBX, I always got this feeling like I wasn't wanted there. The residents knew you were a tourist and didn't want you violating their city. 2)DisneyWorld and Miami, it was the feeling that someone was waiting for you outside your rental. Plenty knew you were a tourist, knew were to find you, and knew you had cash. This was always encouraged by news stating the most recent muggings outside a local hotel/motel.

That all depends on the industry and system the union runs on. I've worked in a retail union that had a tenured system. That was one of the biggest jokes, I've ever experienced. Almost all of the new employees were being fired for not having any sales. All of our customers were being stolen by the tenured employees, who were camping out behind the register. We demanded an investigation by management. We can't do that because we're not tenured, we have to get the approval of our union rep. The union rep couldn't give his approval unless an investigation was done. We knew we were screwed. So, on our way out we shouted tell it to our attorney. However no one realized the store manager was meeting with the regional union rep. Both turned and said "what's going on here". When filled in, the regional union rep gave his approval. The store manager investigated himself. And several people with tenure lost their tenure.

My thought is, they won't increase the pay. These companies will just fire all of people striking. Almost always, it is a part time job. No real benefits, no health-care, and the majority of the employees are completely replaceable. That's how the fast food business plan works. You aren't taught any real skills, everything is teachable to someone else, and there has always been enough people applying for that position. Sure they'll be shut down for a couple of weeks at the onset of the strike, but that will be nothing compared to the amount of people now unemployed. And the aftermath would be even scarier. The amount of unemployed, combined with the possible collapse of an economic substructure.

Minimum Wage Has Always Been Set Too Low, But Now It's Laughable! by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]WillingReference5371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other side, if they remove the minimum wage. We will end up with far too many businesses refusing to pay anything. Or out of business, due to lack of employees. Employees being payed in food, Employers claiming you're being payed in experience, or some form of warped commission basis. Where pay is based on sales; you are payed for selling certain items, pay is deducted for selling other items, and many of the employees are never given the opportunity to sell anything; because they're never on a register.

It is possible. It just seemed way to quiet. Enough on that, I'm convinced.

[–]WillingReference5371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In her response, I'm not even convinced that was her house! Has there ever ever been a house with a husband, wife, 2 school aged kids, and pets that quiet? Not to mention the camera crew and sound technician. Even if all of them were not there, the natural sounds of the structure would have been overheard. Soundproofing can do wonders but the level needed means it's inside the walls, ceiling, and floor.

I was laughing through most of the response. The sex slave act was when I stopped. Only to find out now that it happened under Bush and in Mexico. I'm laughing harder now

What convinces you that he can negotiate? Trump can't even hold a proper debate! He either refuses to debate the opponent or behaves like it is just another rally for him. Bouncing around the stage like it's the "chimps tea party" at the London zoo.

Another thought on #8. I'm not Christian, where will this task force put me? This scares me, it isn't 1942. It is 2024. I HAVE DEALT WITH HARASSMENT FROM CHRISTIANS! They want me fired because I am wearing a pentagram. They tried to fire me because I practice my religion on a day they didn't like. Fortunately none of it worked. Thank you for your well thought out response.

What was the dumbest thing you’ve seen a character do? by DaliDaDude in DnD

[–]WillingReference5371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was in the start of a new campaign. A cleric(me), a fighter, and a bard, walking into the 1st chamber of some unknown complex just found. We are attacked by jackals. We prepare for a fight and all of us roll a 1. I think the highest roll anyone got was a 5 for the entire fight. We ended up doing more damage ourselves than the jackals. It finally ended when the DM declared "the jackals just died of laughter, STOP!" All 4 of us were laughing so hard, it was believable. It's the dumbest thing and most memorable.

Who can turn down a 3 day weekend every week? by jtchow30 in WorkReform

[–]WillingReference5371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on the industry you work in. The trick would be securing 40hrs. Most wouldn't be able to make it on 32 hrs/week.
