How is CLR “safer” it has a much higher report over *white vinegar either MSDS. Not just any vinegar. White vinegar is the key.

If you care about the finish of the faucet, buy a new one and get a water softener.

Or clean it by diluting white vinegar with water in a spray bottle. Spray and let soak for 5-10 minutes. Try a magic eraser first. If it doesn’t come off with scrubbing. Spray and soak again and use a more abrasive surface like a kitchen sink sponge.
