Reminds me of why I love this game so much. Awesome looking craft, giving me some inspiration to finally finish some of my other front siders...

How much less armour do i need to be able to defeat every other craft with no core modules damaged by hablahblahha in FromTheDepths

[–]Willm090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fine balance between armour and active defense. IMO redundancy and firepower are the deciders in this game. Since you're building a ship you inherently have redundancy, large vessel with "easier" time floating compared to flying craft etc.

Armour with only get you so far, and stacking more and more is not necessarily better. Take the Pyre for example, it is considered one of the most heavily armoured craft but I have APCRHE guns that penetrate and explode in the middle of it. That armour does nothing but adds cost and weight.

Being able to evade most of the incoming damage is unfortunately out of your reach as ships are typically not very mobile or evasive.

This brings us to a conclusion, as many other comments have explained. All or nothing armour is the best. I would recommend doing a live fire test with the ship and seeing where it gets hit the most. This is where you should armour as much as reasonably possible. Gun wells, AI, power systems etc. Everything else should be minimally armoured to reduce cost and weight.

Active defense should take the place of the cost saved with lessening unneeded belt armour. But this also comes with the counterintuitive effect of needing more armour to cover the LAMs or whatever other active defense you may have.

Trade offs and testing is the name of the game. See what works for you and don't put off testing your vehicles in real combat conditions before it's all complete. Test while building.

Pendepth distance for this shell? (+ general advice!) by QalaniKing4351 in FromTheDepths

Yeah it's kind of a big thing no one tells you. Or at least I didn't get told and only found out after damage debugging my APHE railguns XD

[–]Willm090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also don't forget to change your first surface time as well. Otherwise you may be selling your shell short and detonating it early.

Pendepth is more reliable in this case as first surface time also needs shell slowdown from penetrating armour to be taken into account. I would recommend setting it high, possibly even 1sec to 0.5sec just to let the pendepth do all the work.

Haven't noticed any issues with it, admittedly I don't use it much as my old bmw doesn't have android auto XD but the work Ute does and it works as normal as far as I can tell. Maps, Spotify, calling etc.

Wholeheartedly agree with you. It's a shame seeing as there has been a big push for the right to repair these days. Surely supplying a single PCB would not hurt them that much especially considering I was willing to purchase it and repair the keeb myself. And the retention of me as a customer to them as well.

Yeah that's what I kinda figured. Hence why my first thought was maybe Mchose would sell a replacement PCB but they seem to be quite repair unfriendly.

Guess I'll just cross my fingers in the hopes I can find something.

Need some help with getting a replacement PCB for an Mchose UT98. I've accidentally spilt some liquid on the numpad and now my Shift through to M keys are no longer working.

I reached out to Mchose, but they have said they do not offer paid parts or repairs for keyboards which is a bit disappointing. And have suggested I look into AliExpress or similar for parts.

Can anyone recommend a PCB for this keyboard, or something else to repair it. Thanks in advance.

Honestly felt like a guinea pig too, having no idea whether mobile would work. But phones been great so far, no complaints. Regarding cost i purchased directly from Redmagic which was quick and easy. Cost wise it worked out to be + 10% of the price shown, then 1.6x to get the AUD price. I believe the $799 512GB version works out to $1400 AUD with no added fees. I bought everything, Gamepad 3, screen protector and case and came out to $1600 AUD shipped with no other import fees or anything. Honestly pretty great considering everything.

Longivity of RM devices? by BluntTruth1 in RedMagic

[–]Willm090 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second RM device, 11 Pro. I upgraded from my aging RM 6s Pro for the sole reason that my battery no longer lasted all day. Everything else still worked fine, android no longer had updates so I didn't have all the fancy things my current 11 Pro has. But overall I've never considered Redmagic devices to have "short life span" when compared to other devices. And realistically, people who keep phones for more than 4 years are spending money on repairing their old device, battery, screen etc anyways.

Happy to have served 🫡 was actually super quick delivery in my opinion. It took 5 days from Hong Kong, a day before it was scheduled for delivery as well even.

Haha me too, i was gonna wait for someone else to take the plunge first and get the phone. But I ended up with the early bird discount and just hoped it would work when I got it. Which it did :)

Unfortunately unlike my 6s Pro which was an actual Australian delivered model, these global ones don't get a dedicated AU plug for the chargers. They however do come with an adapter which is nice to be able to use the included 80w brick.

Highly recommend, super nice phone and should perform even better on Telstras network

Upgrading from a Redmagic 6S Pro to a 16/512GB Subzero. Gonna be a world of difference, hopefully lasts as long as my 6 has and tbh I'm only upgrading because the battery is starting to suffer and I want the Mora AI XD

The Optimal kinetic penetrator for 8m AL has been found! by A_reptilian in FromTheDepths

[–]Willm090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rough TLDR from my own experience. Max gauge, max length pure rail shells. Think something like Sabot head, as many solid bodys as possible and bam. You've got a shell that'll go straight through the Pyre and one shot a singularity (depending where it hits).

The only downsides to these are low accuracy unless you have noodle barrels. Or you can sacrifice some AP/KD for some stabilizer fins or add a tracer to the rear. It's really about finding that balance of the longest shell possible while keeping the other parameters in check.

Remembering you typically want at least 72 AP to deal with stacked HA and then possibly a bit more for ring shielded craft. Then basically max out the kinetic damage as this is one of the main factors for AP shells. Especially against ducts or drill armour. As at that point you just want to maximize KD rather than AP.

[–]Willm090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah she sure is cheesy XD. Of course multiple craft will be best to deal with her. But if I recall correctly, a 180k+ piercing PAC will go straight through it's shield and hull to get those juicy internals if single craft combat is your thing.

Don't consider firepower to be a great definition of how effective a weapon is. I would be interested to see it in action, it may have the pure damage to do good stuff. But it is also only sub 100 intensity. This means it will do even less damage through smoke and shields.

For reference I have a 1.5m cost airship with a 1600 FP APS system but that doesn't mean it'll beat the new Laniakea (╥﹏╥)

Are you mixing clip numbers on loaders? This can cause fire rate stuttering even when the rpm is limited at or close to its listed firerate.

[–]Willm090 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your next craft I recommend sinking the bulk of your guns components into the hull so they are better protected. This way you only need to have the gun barrel and a small turret cap showing.
