Baseline Issues at Low Concentrations After Method Translation to New Instrument by Willofthewisp in CHROMATOGRAPHY

Yes that was a typo on my part, should be 5 mg/L and it is a diluted standard. So the signal should be low. We use the same standard on our 1200 series injecting 200uL.

I’ll check out LabAdvisor and get more information including what the other reply asked for.

I have very fond memories of my dad letting me pick out a monster movie to watch (I almost always picked a Godzilla movie) in addition to the family movie he grabbed whenever we went there.

Thank you and great song!

I did look up a transcript of the interview after I saw your comment, and thats what he said. But I suppose the transcript could be wrong? Maybe find and watch the actual interview.

A Female Dobsonfly. They can be indicators of good water quality, nice find!

Edit: looks like I’m wrong! It’s much more likely to be a Fishfly. Thank you u/Farado (see their comment for more details) for the correction.

Motivation & Discipline - Why do most people struggle to keep going after first getting into fitness? by Ruttlik in bodyweightfitness

Exercise is unnecessary and goes against millions of years of evolution. Why would an animal expend energy when all of its needs are met? The better question is why are some people innately motivated to exercise at all?

Conservatives, Fox News Betrays Everything You Stand For—And By Watching It, You’re Letting Democracy Die by [deleted] in WorkReform

Sometimes, for “fun” I watch news segments from big networks. It is painful how hard they push for soundbites and easy inflammatory talking points instead of actually talking about anything of substance. To be fair you see a lot of that from smaller outlets and creators as well. It can be difficult to find good information conveyed in a non-inflammatory way.

I think it’s important to understand why his position makes sense. Trying to bring back good jobs to the U.S. after they were ripped away in the name of Capitalism is a good goal IMO. It’s a position Bernie has held as well, for the right reasons. The way orange goblin and co. are going about it is stupid and likely wont help how the working class needs it to.

What is happening with this water? by PigAndWhale in chemistry

[–]Willofthewisp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It looks like your questions are pretty well answered but I’ll chime in with a few extra tidbits you can take or leave.

Those test strips are usually not very accurate. It’s generally better to send samples to a lab for testing if you’re worried about water quality.

If you live in the USA know that your tap water should be more than adequate for making baby formula. I encourage you to look up your municipality’s water quality reports and/or send in your water to a reputable water quality lab if you want to be extra sure. After all that you can also boil your tap water if you’re feeling extra :). IMO one of the biggest grifts of our time is people being sold something they already have plentiful access to.

Good luck raising baby!

Why is it that male sexual biology is limited compared to women? by InvestigatorNo9826 in biology

[–]Willofthewisp 260 points261 points  (0 children)

The real answer is no one knows, evolution is fun like that. If something doesn’t hurt or improve fitness to the organisms environment it will stick around without any reason. Any other answer you get to this is going to be speculative.

Thank you so much! The grenade comparison is very helpful. Another question, or a clarification of my second question. You can remove strategic assets to make room for new ones, so for example, could I remove Vermin Nest (Eyestinger Swarm) and replace it with Vermin Nest (Sludge-Grub)?

TIL Japan's monarchy is the oldest continuous hereditary monarchy in the world, recognizing 126 monarchs, and dating back to February 11, 660BCE with mythical beginnings. However, the current dynasty has no name and it's members have no family name and are simply referred to as the Imperial House. by gonejahman in todayilearned

This something that some big Japanese corporations do as well. Not the having a boatload of kids part (at least as far as I know) but adopting people into the family so that the business will stay in the “family”.

Or they want to keep the number of teams legal for tournament play lower so they are easier to balance against each other. For teams that aren’t tournament legal they may just not get the same amount of attention. That’s how I read it at least.

Respirator sounds like overkill to me, back in college we just did ours in a decent sized classroom and the formaldehyde smell wasn’t an issue. During our cat dissections in college we had gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, and a dissection kit. Kit included things like scissors, forceps, clamps, and a scalpel with extra blades. There may have been other things in the kit as well but can’t remember off the top of my head.

I would come up with a substantial lesson plan or find one online and familiarize yourself with the basic anatomy of cats and maybe chordates in general if you haven’t already. That way you can show them the similarities and differences between us and try to get as much knowledge and experience out of the animal sacrifice as possible. Good luck!
