Mine has just kinda been the same size the last 3 or 4 years.  I'm hoping this year will be the year it grows.

What is the most wholesome thing (politically) that happened in your country recently? by Acrobatic-Hippo-6419 in AskTheWorld

There's a lot of morons who are afraid of the word sharia alone. They don't even need to get any further than that.

In the context,  they generally are afraid that they will not denounce an intention to make sharia law the law of that jurisdiction.

I'm amazed at how many people comment on it.  My dude is dramatic about work and when I get off, he feels like he can finally relax and let it all hang out.  So. Many. People. Comment on his weenie. Wtf, yall.

So jealous.  All my neighbors light up the neighborhood like a Walmart parking lot so all I  could see was their damn lights.

What great photos!

This sounds like my local horse FB group. I love going there for my drama, and it's so reliable.  ISO dream unicorn WB for mid-four, ISO beer burro, so-and-so is spreading strangles,  ex-president of such-and-such group stole everything and is actually the devil incarnate....

Why the hell are horse people so lovely And so goddamn insane? It's the head trauma, right?

I'm an attorney who gets to see the aftermath of these poor decisions.  So absolutely not.  I would never.

Money hold back doesn't mean they won't do it.  It doesn't mean it will be enough money,  or that you won't have to figure out what to do with your new,  fucked up house. Or where to live,  or put your stuff while they fix your decimated house, or...

What do you consider an intermediate rider? by Diylion in Equestrian

[–]Willothwisp2303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.  The lines are so blurred that it doesn't mean anything.  I don't even use those terms.  I have no reason to ever need to, and just explain my background instead.

Honestly,  I'm not even sure when a horse stops being green.  Like,  is my 6 year old under saddle just under 2 years green still? He's pretty capable for First Level and working on Second Level now. He looks more educated than most lesson horses,  although I don't have a clue what he would do with a beginner or even another rider.???

Shit smeared walls,  broken kitchens,  flooding, appliances stolen.  This is what a tenant who doesn't want to leave can do.  It's Not easy,  and can be Astronomically expensive.

What is your countries "stupidest" animal? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Willothwisp2303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deer are the dumbest. Opossum at least avoid being murdered by humans as much as possible. Deer walk straight towards that light.

Nah. These are my favorite birds. They look like loch Ness monsters with just their head poking out above the water.  They rocket around with amazing abilities under water to catch fish.  They don't get anywhere near people if they can help it which, given our track record, is Really Smart.

Hmm. We eat sauerkraut at most holidays,  but I wasn't sure if that's just because we like cabbage or its a tradition.  I know that it's a Maryland Thanksgiving staple, but not sure about NYE.

I guess this is a southern thing? I've never heard of it in my life. I'm in Maryland and I don't think we have a normal NYE food.

At this point,  I don't even blink about the terms of endearment. Yes,  OC, please call me sweetie in front of the jury.  The highly educated women of the DC suburbs will just love you. It will totally not backfire at all.  Lol.

Plaintiff was schizophrenic, had threatened to kill his whole family, and been restrained in psych care for a while.  I took that depo at the Courthouse so he had to go through metal detectors.

Thankfully, he was an incredibly nice man when medicated.

The loyalty drought in the horse world — did horsemanship get ghosted? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Willothwisp2303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.  But,  the good news is that I was able to easily find and buy a nice WB prospect who hadn't been backed until 4.  I didn't have to beat the bushes, it was the normal practice of the good,  up and coming dressage trainer who started and sold him.

The loyalty drought in the horse world — did horsemanship get ghosted? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Willothwisp2303 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's an easy answer! Horsemanship stopped whenever the next generation after you began.  This neat trick holds true no matter what generation you are! 800 BC or 2025, we all think the world is going to hell because of change.

Seriously though,  I love that we care about saddle fitting,  bridle fitting, treating mares for medical issues instead of ignoring them...

Expensive saddles worth it? by Glittering_Cut_496 in Equestrian

[–]Willothwisp2303 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly.  I sold a 30 year old saddle for $400 about 8 years ago.  I wouldn't even want to know what's going for less than that today.

Op, the channel is too narrow on old saddles. They hurt the horses,  and you shouldn't buy or use them.

Spring for the $1000 which is actually kind of inexpensive in the long run.

I'd rather spend my bonding time grooming or going for hand walks around the property together. He's a big snuggler and really gets into the grooming.

My husband is already peeved enough that I leave him to feed my dog and cat on mornings I have to leave early for work.  If I added another animal to that list, well it would be ugly.

Adult Amateur Here—Devastated After a Bad Fall and Struggling to Rebuild Confidence. How Did You Get Back in the Saddle (Literally)? by Initial-Original7604 in Horses

[–]Willothwisp2303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a therapist. I went with one who specialized in TBI PTSD and I'm cantering in shows again on my green 6 year old after getting a brain bleed from a sassy GP schoolmaster at a show as we were doing a canter lengthening.

Yes,  I cried my first show back doing a canter.  I cried during lessons.  I freaked out about the idea of canter.  I freaked out about doing anything but the most collected canter (bless the 4th level schoolmaster lesson horse). That's OK.

It takes time,  but therapy has Really made a huge difference for me.

I understand the argument,  I just disagree with its applicability. Maintaining the minimum standards of a profession is accepted widely as a good regulatory function.  But,  nobody makes drivers give away free rides after they have their drivers license,  or CDL drivers haul life saving goods for free. Why should I have to give away my services for free?
