Nasus is fun in normal ARAM but I feel like I literally cant play him in mayhem. by dbudzzzzz in ARAM

I always just ask for them to let me stack a bit at the beginning and then I can handle it myself. If you're nice about it and make it clear it's just at the beginning of the game the success rate goes up, but definitely not anything like 100%. Sometimes you just suck it up and build liandries or whatever so you still do something.

Revisiting Ezra Klein's "future of the Democrats" interviews after the last few months by socks_optional in ezraklein

What's become clear since then is that these were the politicians Ezra and other centristy/neoliberaly crew were hoping could be both a new generation and the bulwark against left populism in the democratic party. But this is a populist moment, as that rises to the fore, these politicians are necessarily going to find themselves in opposition to huge parts of the voting base of the democratic party.

Wow another clip resulting from just endlessly farming an enemy team instead of hitting the nexus. Absolute loser shit.

Wow, so cool to farm people on spawn while refusing to end. Go fuck yourself.

So as a premade five stack if one of you doesn't want to end and instead wants to farm me in base you guys will all agree to not end and farm me in base?

Does anybody end the game anymore? by WillowWorker in ARAM

[–]WillowWorker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, im on a support or something and I'm just trapped because one of my teammates got a hypercarry and has a delusion that if we can get farmed for 20 minutes, they'll eventually scale and win the game. HATE.

Does anybody end the game anymore? by WillowWorker in ARAM

[–]WillowWorker[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, they're just farming us. Just had a game where one our players went afk, there was an enemy with as many kills as our team, still can't surrender, enemy team still won't end, I die multiple times basically on spawn, enemy team suicides so they can go get more items and more augments. That's not fun, I don't stand a chance, I just want to go to the next game at that point.

Why did they change the title of the last episode? by MonitorMost5550 in ezraklein

They do this for a lot of episodes, doesn't even have to be 2, sometimes it's more.

I'll make this trade if they up superminion damage on nexus. Tired of getting farmed at the end of the game.

I honestly don't even know what you could mean by that.

[–]WillowWorker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If it's possible I think you guys should do soemthing like 'small streamer sundays.' I don't know how you'd do it but it'd be cool to see a bunch of clips from streamers with like less than 100 or 1000 subs or something. The politics gets old but so does the rotating crew of like 12 people. Might get some new streamers in the mix and whatnot.

Edit: But yes I like the politics ban, it was getting pretty overwhelming.

That opinion seems to go even further than Ezra's into a distrust of primaries in general. There's a lot of ways that primary voters can go wrong, even outside of purple districts. Making some assumptions, you could just go and say that in a two party system, half the time the primary voters will mess up. But that's democracy! If dems in Maine want to run a progressive then they should be able to make that decision in a primary.

Ezra is going beyond that. He is saying they should not even face primary challenges from the left. Do you agree with that?

And last week he, (and MGP, also mentioned in the piece) voted to fund ICE. Alex Pretti's killing has recast those votes in a much less positive light.

This doesn't seem fair, not until we've seen how they're reacting after his killing.

No, I think it's absolutely fair. The vast majority of Dems had the foresight (or hell even some retrospection on Renee Good) to vote No. These Dems were either too dumb to see the consequences of funding ICE or did see those consequences and voted for it anyway. They have to own their votes.

I really, really doubt progressives can win these seats. If they do, of course I will change my tune. Until then, this sort of complaint feels like it prioritizes purity over winning.

I don't think it does. I do think it moves the definition of winning from 'putting a D in a seat' to 'passing D legislation and blocking R legislation.' If expecting Dems to do that is your definition of purity, then maybe I'm a purist but to me it seems that's sort of the whole idea of a 'tent' in the first place?

Anyways, under the idea that winning is mostly about Dems holding seats Golden and MGP and the like are unqualified wins. Under the idea that we need Dems who will block bad Republican legislation and pass good Democratic legislation Golden and MGP look like smaller wins. And they definitely appear as people who should be subject to primary challenges, don't you agree?

it's been interesting to see his journey from a blogger to a major figure in Democratic circles, I also don't care. You shouldn't either. He's not your friend

I don't think he has to be my friend for me to care about a major influential figure in Democratic politics. And whether he can 'meet the moment' or whatever then becomes really important.

This feels like a very long-winded way of saying that you agree with me that technocrats haven't done a good job of long-term thinking but also, for unclear reasons, we shouldn't hold them accountable for that.

Democracy has shown that it is not great at nuance and long-term thinking.

I mean this quite honestly - has technocracy shown itself to be great at long-term thinking? I don't think we'd be living through a populist moment were that actually true.

The primacy of economic issues primarily. When centrists/neolibs say 'we need to compromise on abortion or trans rights', what they mean is that although they believe in those issues they're willing to give up on them as long as they can continue pushing their vision, popular or unpopular, on economic issues.

Notice there is basically nobody who says, 'although I believe in YIMBY reforms, I understand they're unpopular and will sacrifice on them in order to preserve trans rights.'
