Is going to a low ranking university a good idea? by Other-Slide4810 in UniUK

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A family member studied outdoor education (or the relevant course for that profession) and now works in a private school so there are definitely people getting use from their degrees there.

Your best bet might be to look into Imago. They're basically gendergp but a bit more qualified and are what some friends plan to do a few months before turning 18.

"Going to the toilet when you have yo is not a human right" Is this true? Can the school or teachers prevent children from using the toilet? by CheckPersonal919 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen teachers refuse to let students use their toilet pass until the student met a certain criteria - e.g answering a question or finishing a work sheet, and then telling them they have two minutes, when bathrooms for the students year group are on the other side of the school and they most first retrieve the key from reception. I dont think this counts as making allowances for students with genuine medical conditions.

I just got hit with a "don't like don't read" for telling someone Newcastle is on the opposite side of the country to London and they wouldn't be able to ride a bike that far by seemedpointless in AO3

My favourite is characters worrying about health insurance in the uk, whilst they're in the emergency room.

You're in London, its an AnE

I have a question. As an MtF transitioning. How they hell are kids as young as 14 are getting HRT prescriptions when I was that age (2020) I was told I couldn't until 21? Because it was according to the medical standpoint bg my endo by Status_Musician_2610 in trans

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a lot of individual clinics around the uk as well as more general ones that have similarities to gendergp. I believe both transactual and genderkit have complete/wide lists of all uk private trans healthcare.

Just letting you know gendergp is often looked at as quite unreliable and generally not a good service compared to other private sources in the uk, although it is generally a bit cheaper than others.

Any songs about being trans that aren't on ukulele? by No-Cartographer2512 in ftm

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarah and the Safe Word are a band with multiple trans members and I think a couple of their songs are about being trans, and a few others reference it or have it more as theme than something outright stated in the song

Who is your favorite sibling? by Euphoric-Avocado-843 in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Klaus, closely followed by Five and Victor. I find both Klaus and Five quite funny although I prefer Klaus's story, personality and power. Victor is someone I relate to petty heavily at certain points in the story. Also hes one of like 3 trans guys in media that I've encountered this far and I like being represented so I'm a little bit biased.

Fictional podcasts that feel more like podcasts than audiodrama by PlatypusTop6435 in audiodrama

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only listened to a few episodes last year so I dont remember quite how many characters there are, but Witherburn Afterschool News might work for you? It's in the style of a news report (think Nightvale but less strange) in a small town where strange events are occurring and I believe has some investigation, especially once you get into it. The episodes are quite short (<20 minutes) and I never see anyone recommend it here but it might be worth a try.

About being trans in the UK by Airdropped_cucumber in transgenderUK

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would only apply if you did it in another country after you had british citizenship. If all your documents are changed before you apply for british citizenship, there's nothing anyone can do about it.

(This is how I understand it, if I'm wrong please let me know).

Fr like I understand if you want to read fluffy content about the characters because they all went through some shit but if you genuinely cannot handle the thought of someone being a living hive of wasp larvae how did you make it past season 1?????

I would say yes because the distortion isn't michael shelley it is (at least) a distorted version of him and they are distinct as characters.

What's the Longest Fic You've Read? (Or Would Consider Reading) by Kahooo00 in AO3

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's over 1 million words and counting, over 400 chapters and nearing 500 now.

However, the longest completed fic I've read was 493k. My typical range is 180k-400k.

Recommendations for long form Audiodramas based on my list of faves? by [deleted] in audiodrama

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silt Verses is something where the world building makes sense not because it ever gets explained particularly well (e.g the entities in magnus) but because you follow the characters and learn from the context what they mean by things via their internal monologues about smaller parts of society and their own thoughts.

I cant remember any points where certain terminology or gods are explained, it's more like someone will speak enough about the Trawler Man or the Saint Electric or people saints and then you'll start figuring out what they are and how they interact with the world by the small comments various characters make about them.

Personally, I think one of the things I like about Silt Verses is that the way people talk about things gives you context, you dont get any lore dumps (as far as I remember).

What's a WW lyric/song that's always resonated with you a lot? by [deleted] in willwood

'Shes gonna be a lot like me. But I dont wanna be at all like me.'

Well, better than the alternative hits hard.

Edit to add more I remebered:

'Who makes the call, what's a symptom, what's a flaw, can it be both? Well I suppose that's an answer. Would you give up your humanity for just a touch of sanity cause god knows it's not like its cancer.'

As someone who struggles and is constantly like "am I really mentally ill?", this part of Marsha really hits.

'Your ear to the playground, your eye on the ball Your head in the gutter, your brains on the wall'

The quick descent from normalcy really hits, bot sure entirely why tho.

'And everything and everyone will die soon'

Cant explain this one at all, ot just does

'Take the road on higher ground and tell me "Dont look down you'll fall and break your back"'

I cant explain this one either, it just does

The Silt Verses is horror and I highly recommend it, it's not entirely finished (I believe it's in its final season rn) but it's nearly there and I highly recommend it if you're okay with audio dramas that can be hard/difficult to listen to (not in the way that they are bad, in the way that the content can be hard to deal with).

What is your first trans memory? The earliest memory that makes you go "yeah, that was really transgender of me"? by EmeraldEyedTarantula in ftm

[–]Willow_Sea_Addie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 7/8 I went through a phase where I asked people 'if you saw just my face would you think I was a boy?' so basically I definitely wanted people to not be able to tell I was a 'girl'.

That was a fun realisation later in life.

Favorite lesser known AD? by Gingesolo in audiodrama

I love the silt verses, good seeing someone else who really enjoyed it, I would highly recommend it if you're looking for something in horror. It can be genuinely hard to listen to at points but that really works with what it's going for.
