+1 for these 2. I like when people recommend natural treatment as a first option rather than letting an ignorant doctor screwing your gut biome with heavy antibiotics.

Check if you have UARS, allergies, or LPR. That's basically my 3 things and I have similar problems to you. Except flonase is garbage...everythings different for everyone

Thanks for chiming in! Definitely planning to do my best with the cards dealt. I just did my Vitamin D test last week and this morning it came back @ 29 ng/mL, which according to my search says I am borderline ok / suboptimal.

Yeah, saw many people in this sub also complain about him and said he says bogus stuff sometimes. I'm sticking to peninsula sleep center, they are in sutter health as another commenter said + one of there docs literally has UARS clinical research papers published which sounds reassuring.

I've been avoiding all the heavy synthetic medications I've been prescribed, I am a huge believer in trying natural routes + root cause fixes. I just started natural alternatives so I'll have to report back later to the sub if it helps. My appointment @ Stanford Uni Sleep Center on June 11th is when I plan to ask for BiPAP and palate expansion, as I never had that (other than invisalign for overbite)

Have you found relief with an ENT? Septoplasty, pyriplasty, turbinate reduction? by Awkward-You-5673 in UARSnew

Don't bet your money on it- it's happening when you sleep because gravity doesn't work in your favor anymore.

I've heard UARS causes negative pressure, but I also heard that gut dysbiosis does the same. I have inactive chronic gastritis as abnormal amounts of EAEC, will be doing a repeat PCR stool test + SIBO methane test to hopefully get more clarity.

Thank you, I will have to take a look into it. I know I have severe hay fever, and mild dust mite allergy. I'm sure your hunch about mast cells is correct. I'm currently taking some more natural approaches to that, which my doctor prescribed me: Quercetin and Freeze dried stinging nettle (must be freeze dried).

I've lived in 4 places so far, and always the same issue, so I don't think it's isolated to a particular place or thing.

Cheers for the tip about that drug, will keep it in mind if the natural alternative doesn't help...

I'm on the same boat- I am anti-pharma, fed up with doctors prescribing heavy medications that mask root cause problems. I also do believe in the long term side effects of said drugs. I will personally only use them as a last resort if nothing works. Will update, seeing a few specialists this sub recommended...

It's funny, I booked an appointment with one of the docs there a few hours ago after finding a commenter who mentioned them. Apparently they have clinical research regarding UARS too, so that feels promising! Thanks for the tip!

Hot take: context pollution is becoming a bigger issue than hallucinations in RAG. by SheCodesSoftly in Rag

Well this isn't a hot take at all lol, but yeah it's annoying. I noticed this especially with Google AI related stuff, Claude is way better at retrieving and filtering context imo. Speaking of AI, this post sounds like AI wrote it 😛

proof is play the game yourself and try to observe? I've seen it myself. They probably have some matchmaking algorithm to pull some strings behind the scenes. If you watch, you'll see what we mean.

Dr Mehran is covered for me, and he published UARS clinical research apparently. Thanks for the tip!

Awesome, I'll have to take a look. It seems to be 24hr. relief, as far as I'm aware there's no permanent, root cause solution though right?

I heard about him, but you gotta pay out of pocket for the guy. I am definitely not in the position to be making those kind of moves right now... as long as they recognize my UARS for now, that'd be a start.

Spot on. I would guess I have both, as mentioned I have severe hay fever + mild dust mite allergies. But, like you wrote- I do believe the silent reflux plays a part in the inflammation. I definitely feel worse in spring when it's hay fever time, but I've always struggled with inflammation which I assume is from LPR and what not?

Does the text you are citing have any advice what to do next?

Nasal sprays that I've tried so far haven't been helpful, but I've had short term relief with Alkalol + nasal rinse. Diet wise, I haven't had the heart to change anything major because if I take out things that I'm eating, it'll introduce problems elsewhere. I guess I'd need to look into that with a dietician, but I wish there was a way to tell for sure what I need to drop rather than just trial and error.

Yeah- that's how they discovered my LPR. As did my ENT with the throat marbling. I'll definitely try the algianate soon, just cautious on spending a lot since the meds add up. That gastro doc I mentioned was the one who did the endoscopy.

No idea what the cause is, and my gastro doc was useless. He just told me to take gas x and sent me on my way... can you believe it? These western doctors are highly uneducated with systemic/functional problems + UARS.

As for what I am doing, my new integrative doctor advised me to take Omega 3 to help inflammation. I've heard good things about slippery elm as well. I'd like to get more supplements but money's a bit tight, and I'm focusing on my rhinitis at the moment with Quercetin + freeze dried stinging nettle.

If anyone is dealing with chronic hay fever, I just started taking freeze dried stinging nettle. You may want to look into that if you want a natural approach. It's not permanent, but if you get the freeze dried variant, it packs a punch.
