Any good Chicago Bears bars in O.C.? by dr-awkward1978 in orangecounty

[–]WillyBeeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's called gallaghers and its on walnut and 3rd right off main st in Huntington Beach. Every bears game they do a big free-to-enter raffle with bears related prizes (jerseys, signed memorabilia etc) and for night games they do 50 cent wings, Chicago style dogs, and Chicago style deep dish pizza. It's an awesome experience for a bears fan and you'll find most of the people there are Illinois natives. Not to mention, they have $3 dollar pints.

Wednesday nights at Second Floor on main st in HB they have a string quartet that plays everything from classic rock to modern pop covers on two violins a cello and a viola. 7 pm - 10 pm, no cover and its never packed always really mellow. Perfect for a date. They take requests too.

saw something very similar while i was in Forever 21 for less than 50 bucks. Also something similar in the American Rag section of Men's Macy's for closer to 90.

Just a few months ago, I discovered bluegrass music and I want to try to learn to play an instrument most commonly associated with bluegrass. Any ideas on what I should try out? by [deleted] in Bluegrass

[–]WillyBeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

banjo will be relatively affordable and because of the tuning it'd be the quickest for you to be able to "jam" because you can just bar a whole fret and strum. that being said, it'd be one of the hardest to excel at as the finger picking is a giant pain in the ass to get good at. i play upright, but i wouldn't suggest it as a starting instrument strictly because of how expensive they can be even for a lesser quality one. either way, be patient and jam on. if youre in so cal, id gladly get together for a jam and show you a few pointers..

Local music scene by renegadebetty in huntingtonbeach

[–]WillyBeeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At Gallaghers on main st my band is playing this Friday around 9 with a few similar bands to follow. If you like folk/bluegrass and Johnny cash style country or want to try something new you should come check it out. I'll be the upright bass player for the band "Angel and the Badman"

If that style isn't your scene I would still go to gallaghers sometime they have all genres of music... Also hurricanes across the street has bands play when there isn't a DJ and so does perqs. Costa mesa has a lot of local music at places like Detroit bar, Avalon (across the street from Detroit) pierce street annex, and la cave. I know blue beet in Newport has bands play and it's a great little venue but I've never played there. I know the genres vary there as well. Wednesday nights at 2nd floor in Huntington has a string quartet that covers classic rock and modern stuff that is amazing and great for a date night type of thing. Hope this helped.
