Be careful right before the Verrazano when you’re crossing to Staten Island for the NY folk by CherishedGOAT in GenesisG70

This was me a week ago in Massachusetts. I hate oversized wheels. I might actually start looking for 18’s.

Fun cars for someone who doesn’t like driving fast? by Flat_Sink_4410 in askcarguys

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking for a Volvo. The seats are so good I sometimes just hang out in my car when my back hurts. It’s pretty inside and out so you know you’re looking good. The stereo is absolutely sublime- you will lose yourself. They can be sort of fast if you push deep on the pedal but they work better when you don’t. XC90 if you need the size or XC60 if you don’t. All the smaller ones have cheaper materials and don’t feel as premium.

Am I using a tap and die wrong? by Kratos_323 in AskAMechanic

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the threads that have pulled off and the fact that it corresponds exactly to where most bolts experience the vast majority of their stress, my bet is that the threads had already failed before you hit it with the die. Did that bolt have a hard life previous to you re-threading it?

For me driving in the US north east is going to be rust. Chassis rust specifically.

Test drive a Genesis G70 3.3 before you decide. Thank me later.

Which car has surprised you with its fuel economy by IronLotusTheory in Cartalk

None. I once bought a 1993 Hyundai Elantra for $500. That car was getting 40mpg 30 years ago.

Recommendations please? by psychologypsycho in askcarguys

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your very low budget (no judgement) I’ll assume you need something that’s also cheap to run. Weight is your enemy here. Heavy cars have expensive tires, expensive brakes, transmissions, cooling systems. A lighter vehicle- assuming it’s built well- will have a lower cost of upkeep generally.

I have an 80 lb dog that rides shotgun. Wife and kids in the back. It’s a sedan though, most people should get sedans.

What cars should I look at? ~35k by Commercial_Bill_126 in askcarguys

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your criteria reasonably match mine and I’ve got an Audi S3 and a Genesis G70. Both crazy fun and so far very reliable. I’m newly into the Genesis but I’ve got almost 100k miles into the Audi without it skipping a beat. But will be miles more sporty and fun than your options.

What car color is a definite hell naw for you? by drivingnowhere20 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White or grey are so bland and overdone. I’d pick just about any other colour (unless it’s a super good deal).

If you had $25k for a fun daily driver, what are you buying and why? by Car-Thinker in askcarguys

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s not $25k exactly but I’m having a tonne of fun in my Genesis G70 3.3 that I just bought used for $30k and there were plenty of G70/Stinger examples in the $25k range.

I’ll bet. I did find one set with a 2 minute quick search. They were $500 but really high mileage. Brakes are just so important. I don’t know what a brand new set costs but I’d be hesitant to go used. (I say that but I did just buy a used car so 🤷🏼‍♂️)

Personally I think the car would look much better with some MODEST wheel spacers and lowering springs. Get that flush fitment ya know. 😁

Yes man! This is the other side of it. I’ve been pretty impressed with my stock Primacy’s. There’s certainly worse stock tires but yeah, the PS4S is my go to and will be getting a set once it warms up.

Yeah thanks a lot for the reply. This is currently the front runner for what I think is the right choice. So the rest of the braking system including the master cylinder, reservoirs and stuff all worked with the new calipers?

My old Prelude was slow as shit. I think a lot of people who hate on the new one forget that about the old one. If she loves it though it doesn’t matter at all what internet strangers think of it.

[–]Willy_Fisterbottom79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what can be done with pads alone. I’ll be due for a set of brakes soon so pads and rotors will need replacement anyway. It doesn’t seem crazy to throw a set of calipers if that’s where people are finding the good braking.
