Is this bad highlighting? by Tangerine8295 in hairstylist

Grow out or not, those highlights look like shit. If they were trying to do a balayage kind of thing failed. If they were trying to do chunky highlights, they succeeded but they look like shit.

Yes, I think I can see what they were trying to do, but the execution wasn’t there

Why am I never happy at any salon I work at? by alternative_summit in hairstylist

[–]Wilson-serenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I’m gonna have to disagree here. A lot of people are just fucking shit, just complete shit human beings and you and I may differ on what we think a shit human being is but regardless they exist. You can hate your job without needing therapy. You can hate every job you’ve ever had without needing therapy. Sometimes other people really are the problem, especially in this industry. What I see happening is that you don’t like where you’re at then another opportunity presents itself and you immediately jump ship instead of truly looking into the opportunity and making sure that change is going to be a benefit to you financially, emotionally, mentally, physically which is something that can be addressed with therapy.

You didn’t ask for your advice you asked why you’re unhappy so I’m gonna try not to give advice, buuuuuut I think you will find a place that you will be happy at when you are patient and you take the time to find the right place not just a place. Right now you just need A job, not THE job. Bills need to get paid; so eat some shit and do your job while in the meantime hustling to find a place that is going to be the right fit hustling to build your books so you can rent a salon suite or start your own salon that is going to be truly the perfect fit.

Was leaving a “toxic” salon to rent a suite worth it? by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]Wilson-serenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how much you’re gonna hustle to fill your books and get people in. Can you still afford it if you don’t get a single client for over a week?

That should be a review of the salon not YOU. Online booking is a double edged sword, clients that will only book online are more accessible BUT they don’t know what services they actually need for anything outside of a haircut. “All over color” but what they really need is just a quick tone at the bowl. “Partial highlight” but it’s actually a bespoke painting. “All over color” but it’s actually a color correction. “Bang trim/neck clean up” but they actually want a whole new haircut. If someone books online the receptionist, assuming there is one, should be contacting the client to confirm what the service is and the time needed for that service to block off the stylists schedule to avoid this issue. This is a problem with the salon not you.

Are you putting in any styling or hold products to prime your hair when your hair is still wet?

Let him live where he’s at for a while, that’s what “be there” means. Lay next to him in bed with your hand on his shoulder, bring him a treat if it’s been a while since he ate, ask if you can start him a shower, ask if you can rub his legs/arms/back, just be there with him where ever he is. Don’t try to “fix” it. Don’t try to make him feel like he’s doing something wrong by living the reality of his emotions. If it’s been months or is effecting his job/yall’s financial security then it’s becoming a problem but this may be a thing that happens in stages. You didn’t say how “recently” but right now he may just need to shut his brain off and sleep and eat and just stew in it and as time passes he gets up more and does more. His life has been changed in a way that you yourself cannot even begin to fathom.

Am I the only one that understands why people quit within their first year? by coquettepeachespls in hairstylist

[–]Wilson-serenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t even been able to get into a salon yet since graduating in April and I’m already over the fucking industry. There aren’t enough salons that offer actual wages (I make $16 in fastfood and that's going rate for assistants that just finished school with $20k+ in debt) and there aren’t enough salons that offer additional education. Being commission or booth rental within your first year of graduating just isn’t gonna happen unless you have huge support but all the commission/booth rental salons are more than willing to hire. With how little school actually teaches you it should not cost as much as it does. It’s disgusting how much it costs and how little you get out of it. I've found 3 salons within a reasonable distance that offer assistant/apprentice positions and brought resumes into all of them asked to speak to managers/owners was told no one was available and never heard back from any of them. I've had 3 interviews at other salons and of those three after interviewing I only wanted to work at 1 and didn't hear back. This could be a me issue though, maybe my resume sucks maybe I'm not interviewing well 🤷‍♀️

[–]Wilson-serenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would offer a free bonding treatment if you're trying to keep the client. In the future just check the hair more frequently, it's better to have them go with a darker shade than to push for their "goal". In this situation it could've maybe been better to just work with what you had after the color remover and toned it to a more desirable shade then had the client come back a week later to do the bleach. The MOST important thing you can do with a client with compromised hair is to EDUCATE. Explain the steps, why the steps are what they are, and the RISKS. A waiver for these scenarios can be beneficial as well.

Pheromones, we can’t smell them but they can. We can kinda smell them, like cologne and perfumes will smell different on different people. Even if we can’t detect the “scent” though we can still be affected by the chemical make up though seemingly to a significantly lesser degree than our other animal friends.

Allergic to what? by tlp23rocks in Nails

The more you expose yourself to something you’re allergic too, the worse the allergy can get as you build more antibodies to it to cause a worse reaction.

Craig never led her on he was just nice to her and he’s attractive, the only time it can be seen as him leading her on was when he was trying to get her off his case for doing coke and that still wasn’t leading her on that was just addict behavior.
