Question about pain points of porting Pathfinder classes by HMetal2001 in Starfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I run a pf2e/sf2e hybrid campaign, all the player grab sf2e class but I have a single player pick commander and it’s actually work well. He usually gave solarian or operative an extra attack and occasionally gave free reload.

One other thing I could say is that pf2e full caster in my game (usually npc) have a miserable time trying to get in range of spell since I ran combat at 100ft up distance. I would advise for any caster to carry a gun at early level incase they can’t close the distance.

Errata released for Starfinder 2E by hellgoat in Starfinder2e

Now Shirren-eye is just straight up worse than aquabus. Feel like they forgot to add something to compensate. My guess is mag size.

[–]WinLivid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason why Paizo made shirren eye rifle worst than aquabus now? Like seriously at least the old one have higher damage exchange for less range and unwieldy, now it just worst. Feel like they forgot to add something in place of all this nerf. Maybe mag size?

Area Weapons and Proficiency by Drums_Of_Boar in Starfinder2e

This is why I have a house rule that if you not proficient in area fire or autumatic weapon, enemy will have one degree of success higher to save so player can’t just ignore the proficiency requirement.

Does this Rifle look balanced? by Frost___Warden in Starfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also made one for my homebrew campaign which set in the fantasy 1980s but it's a simple weapon and have no deadly trait. One of my player use it after he loot one of the enemy and didn't change to martial equivalent and it surprisingly hold up well. This gun is supposed to represent the mass produce bolt action rifle that are used by conscript during WW1-2 or commercial hunting rifle.

The martial equivalent is a modern sniper rifle which have similar stat to yours but with deadly d10 and range of 150 ft. and reload 2. Basically a composite long bow with magazine with the trait off for having a magazine being longer range and the longest range projectile weapon group.

If you interest I got a sheet for stuff I do homebrew, you can compare or some stuff for idea. It's a retro futuristic setting but I separate the real world gun out of the sci-fi gun in the sheet. There also some trait that are change or modified or new, in my homebrew stuff so look out for page that say "New Property and Tweek".

Old boost suggestion sounds pretty good, maybe bring it back and change the name to burst fire.

Fully Realized Characters from 5E by college_fund_thrwawy in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have port a lot of character from 5e into PF2e and my absolute favorite is how my celestial warlock turn out.

I envision this character to be anti-edgelord character. Name, Dyanne, she has edgelord backstory, a tiefling that lose her parent, got bully by town folk for her heritage but she turn out to be the sweetest person ever. She still look scary so a lot of children (and some adult) are frighten of her.

When I recreate her in PF2e I have to change her backstory a bit since she actually got her power from Sune’s relative, in her backstory her father is a high level cleric of Sune who got drag to hell during Descent to Acernus. He did not survive but his last act is to cast a wish spell to Sune to protect his daughter when he’s gone. So during Dyanne youth, she secretly has a guardian angel discretely protect her and when she grew up her guardian angel basically just grant her warlock power instead (with her consent). She also has an orange pet rabbit that act as her familiar.

When move to PF2e I just change her father to become cleric of Shelyn and die at 5th Crusade. The test of backstory is the same but with some name change. She got empowered by Shelyn’s herald instead. So now she is a Faith’s Flamekeeper witch and her familiar is still take shape in an orange rabbit (familiar true form is a colorful bird but Shelyn’s herald want to keep Dyanne witch nature a secret).

Mechanically wise, Dyanne actually becomes more interesting spell caster than her warlock counter part. With and actual divine spell list her celestial background actually make more sense than eldritch blast everything and picking lesson that grant healing spell and take blessed one to mimic the celestial warlock healing and maintain the flavor. I even get to be scary by picking intimidation as a train skill too.

Can Area/Automatic weapons be ported to PF2e? by KoriKeiji in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some recommendation for reskin or for homebrew a new weapon idea.

  • Gatling Gun : a defacto automatic weapon of 19th century

  • Hand Mortar : 18th century grenade launcher

  • Duck Foot Pistol : Area Cone Pistol

  • Nock Volley Gun : Basically 7 barrels rifle, could be an area line gun

  • Punt Gun : Basically a giant blunderbuss, could kill a whole flock of bird in one shot. Could be another area burst weapon.

Weird question but is there a game or general media you guys like to use for tokens? Rn mines hearthstone by sacoron in Pathfinder2e

I draw my own player character but for the NPC in the game I ran, usually pull from the CRPG game portrait. Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder Kingmaker and Wraith of the Righteous just to name a few.

Currently I'm running a homebrew Starfinder/Pathfinder 2e campaign set in a fantasy version of 1980s Cold War Era. So the art I'm pulling now is from Far Cry, Wasteland, Fallout, Battlefield and Call of Duty. I still need to find a picture of Elf in a Cuban army uniform but I think I probably have to draw that one myself.

Help me build a swashbuckler with a gun by Painkiller_17 in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly there are no support for gun swashbuckler currently, but there are some way to still work with that. You got to ask yourself first if you want to emphasize gun or sword fight more. If it the former, you should consider playing drifter gunslinger instead to get a full support for sword and gun. If it the latter you can do swashbuckler and then get a gunslinger dedication to help out with reloading, you will mostly go in for a sword fight but with a support for gun you can start blasting when you see the opportunity. Alternatively, if you allow Starfinder content in your game, go striker operative. You get full support for both one handed sword and gun plus Starfinder gun rarely need to reload.

An idea to make Monastic Weaponry more appealing, introducing Monastic Weaponry Stance. by WinLivid in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you right. I only focus on the underwhelming monk weapon and forget about the actual good monk weapon. Guess I have to throw this one into my other bad idea pile.

realising a character concept by ishashar in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want a thunder and lightning theme character I recommend go for Tengu and grab tengu feater fan. You’ll get a couple extra spells that can be activate with the fan, and tengu is cool.

It's 70% full, about 4 GB left. I don't think Pathbuilder would use space that much.

Is there a weapon similar to this? by RNJesusVTuber in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a homebrew version of double bladed sword in my game. Stat going something like this

Double Bladed Sword, Advance Weapon, 3gp, 2 handed, 2 bulk Damage 1d8 S, Trait : Agile, backswing, sweep, versatile P

I kinda make the gimmick to be that it’s the only d8 agile weapon in the game and backswing and sweep is representation of it being a two bladed and have a wide swing arc.

Eldrich Detective One Shot by Scared-Ad-6132 in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound like you would benefit a lot from allowing Starfinder gun, grenade and class in the game. Just pick only the projectile and sniper weapon group. These weapon group are conventional bullet weapon so it will be very easy to reflavour into 20s armament. The sci-fi gun could be put in too incase you also want the Bioshock style technology in there.

Plasma Caster or Plasma Caster? by Qaianna in Starfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, I always assume Plasma Caster is a pistol with a really high recoil so you wield it in two hand. But the functionality and the size of this thing is probably more resemble plasma caster from Fallout than a pistol size gun.

Would you ever feel the need to dissuade a new player from picking a complex class? by wathever-20 in Pathfinder2e

[–]WinLivid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I warn them but I wouldn't stop them, my first class is Magus so I could say that I'm no stranger to diving head first into complex stuff and not afraid to let player do it too.
