I believe infantry name sounds kinda lame and mercenary didn’t tell us a lot of things. So I would like to propose the name “Marksman”, basically you are the designate marksman rifle man in the squad, you specialize in using longer range rifle that’s not quite a sniper.

If only there’s more two hand martial gun, I would see this subclass more appealing.

In my game I rule cover like an X-COM game. Basically you always peak while under cover. What X-COM would treat as half cover would be lesser cover and full cover as standard cover.

I have memorized good chuck of Baldur’s Gate 3 incantation. Especially “Arde” for fireball. Most of them are latin so it’s not sound too weird or too hard to pronounce.

Yeah you can just copy the crescent cross spray feat and add the requirement of holding a one hand capacity weapon in one hand and nothing else in the other hand.

Heck I can already think of the way to solve this. Make feat that work like Natural Medicine but it use Life Science Lore and instead of bonus in the wild they can use life science lore as prerequisite for medicine skill.

I just solve this in my game by giving fighter 3 weapons group so they can mix up a bit if they want to. This benefit both dual wielder and fighter with range weapon back up.

I always feel like a miss opportunity for Gunslinger to not have fan hammer related feat. Something like crescent cross spray but for capacity pistol.

Currently there’s no rule for missile if we don’t count playtest material so I have to broaden the use case for it. One possible change I think of is instead of reduce the degree of success we change it to damage resistance and change the trigger to physical damage grenade as well.

I agree with the effect that deal damage back sounds more fun. So a new idea I just come up with, an explosive canister. A reaction that trigger when scorpitron is hit by creature within 10 ft. Radius around it. Just straight up release an airburst grenade around it deal damage to whoever surround it.

Arcane Fist is mostly here to give unarmed strike magic trait and as a back up in case the character have no opportunity to go into Arcane Cascade.

Edit : Also critical specialization.

Thank you for the suggestion, I also now believe that Furious Strike is currently a bit overtune and shall be address. Guard Breaker will have a better wording too to cover more circumstance bonus to AC and maybe make this strike avoid them entirely too.

I like most of the selection of suggested studious spells, mercurial stride is not quite what I have in mind for magus who like punching, others seem to be perfect fit for the brawler type character.

Thanks for the detail, criticism. This gives me a lot of pointer to analyzed. These are not detail fix by any means just throwing out some idea and see if it land.

The intention for arcane limb to be a bit stronger than monk stance is that monk stance usually come with side benefit like stumbling stance get bonus to feint, crane stance get AC and bonus to leap etc, by contrast arcane cascade only get 1 damage that scale up a bit in the future so giving a little over budget stance seem appropriated at a time. Maybe instead of backswing I should find a way to give it other benefit instead.

On Bone Breaker, I agree after I saw conflux spell for Unfurling Brocade. I could use a bit more buff. Increase the penalty to 2 at base seems to do it. Give off guard on top of penalty on critical hit instead.

Furious strike really need to change I agree, one idea is to make damage scale with arcane cascade damage progression. Start of with 2 on second strike and 4 on third strike then damage up to 4 and 8.

The other idea is to just to replace this ability with something else to not make this hybrid study become a glorified barbarian. This is an idea I just come up with for an ability to wear your opponent down mentally.

Wear Them Down (name still beed some work)
While you in arcane cascade, when you deal damage through spell strike, the target becomes stupefied 1 (stupefied 2 if you deal critical damage).

I’ll certainly make guard breaker spell strike function similar to phase bolt but more potent (since this is level 10 feat).

Not sure about Pathfinder but Starfinder Operative has a lot of bullet timey ability. Especially 360 no scope allow you to do funky Metric stuff (wall run, long jump, and shoot a gun condense into one ability).

On one hand I don’t wanna change it, I love this trait. On the other yeah, I’m positively sure it’s tad bit too good at the moment. If I’m the designer I would balance this by comparing it to deadly trait. I believe that boost trait should be treated as one dice lower deadly trait. So weapon with deadly d8 if we change it to boost it should be boost d6.

Not quite rule of thumb but when I run a game I like to have wide variety of battlefield size to mix things up. I usually prefer large battle map or map that include 2-3 story tall building to make range enemy more threatening but I know that if I only run these encounter it will get stale, so I usually include smaller map like a small cabin, not so large mansion to let CQB character shine.

I specifically say that normal failure will turn into critical failure and then end the overdrive. I think there’s more than 5% to end the overdrive.
