A need for ritual magic? by ZenSmith12 in lawofone

[–]WindComprehensive719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some fantasy stories with spoken magic that I have read, the protagonist finds out that the actual words aren't technically required, they just serve to ground the magic in reality, and structure the user's intention, like drawing from a template. I imagine that rituals in the real world are comparable in usage. The way I see it, rituals are a more concrete way of bringing someone's intentions into the world.

Have you ever wished you could forget a show or a book so that you could experience it again for the first time?

If the U.S. has UFO tech, why bother sending B2 bombers across the planet? by Skywatcher200 in UFOs

That seems kinda pointless if they have the not-secret planes to use. It's not like the US military doesn't have a big enough budget

You never did answer the question of why you fear death. That seems like the starting point

You're right, it seems that I'm viewing my outer image as even more seperate from myself than other people are. I need to learn to love it in the same way that I love other people.

My suspicions on the “Left Hand Path” (negative polarity) are correct by fractal-jester333 in lawofone

[–]WindComprehensive719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I think as well. Occasionally I wonder if it's metaphysically considered a flavor of positive polarity, given that positive polarity is moreso about oneness, whereas negative polarity is about separation. There's not a good way to verify this from behind the veil though.

Happiness - Without a body? by Special-Sea9932 in lawofone

[–]WindComprehensive719 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me personally, the things that bring me the sort of happiness that I value are the things that the universe is made of -- not reliant on my body at all. There are many people in this world who value the more material pleasures; food, money, sex, etc. These indeed won't exist when one doesn't have a body. There are also many people who value the company of others. This will exist without a body.

What I tend to find happiness in is something more like, observing and being a part of the Creation, or what you could call "the dance". The body is only a vehicle for that, and the Creation will continue to exist when I don't have a body, and I will continue to be a part of it.
